April 10, at 1:05 p.m., Sgt. Tim Crume was contacted in the 100 block of Allen St. by a complainant who advised him that a commercial motor vehicle had driven in the 1000 of East A Street and struck a cable television wire that had been connected to her residence, pulling it down. The driver of the truck was con- tacted and information was obtained for the complainant. The driver told the officer he was unaware of the low hanging wire. April 11, at 10:35 a.m., Sgt. Crume and Officer Bryan Lasley were dis- patched to an unwanted person at a residence in the 200 block of E. Prairie St. The subject left the property prior to the officer's arrival. No charges were filed. At 2:26 p.m., Officer Lasley ar- rested Cleveland Hurd in the 300 block of Boothe Drive after officers began a criminal investigation. A war- rant was issued after Hurd violated a criminal trespass warning. At 4:47 p.m., Lt. Clem Johnson was called to a residence in the 100 block of E. Center St. in reference to a runaway juvenile. The complainant advised Lt. Johnson the juvenile had not gone to school that day. Johnson later located the juvenile and returned him to his parents. The case was re- ferred to the juvenile probation de- partment. At 6:19 p.m., Officer Michael Krenek received a call of a burglary of a vehicle in the 100 block of E. Center St. The victim, John Wilkins, claimed a wristwatch had been stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway. The case is under investiga- tion. April 12, at 6:23 p.m., Officer Krenek was dispatched to an un- wanted person at a residence in the 600 block of Keith St. Officer Krenek arrived and contacted the complainant who told Krenek the suspect had al- ready left. No charges were filed. April 13, at2:29 a.m., Officer Kre- nek was advised of an injured person at Rice Medical Center. Officer Krenek arrived and found that the person had suffered a serious laceration on her head at her home in Garwood. The call was turned over to the Colorado County Sheriff's De- partment. At 4:22 p.m., Sgt. Bill Latlimore and Officer Rosalinda Perez arrested Sammie Chavis in the 500 block of E. Union St. on a warrant for criminal trespass. At 6:15 p.m., Officer Wendy Al- ley was dispatched to a minor traffic accident in the parking lot of the bas- ketball court, located in the 700 block of East E Street Two vehicles had struck each other; the damages was minor. ST-2 accident blue forms were issued. At 11:19 p.m., Sgt. Lattimore and Officer Perez responded to a fight in progress at the My Place Bar, located at 400 Beaks Ave. The officers arrived and contacted a person who claimed to have been assaulted. A report was taken, but the victim refused to file any charges. April 14, at 12:11 a.m, Officer Alley was dispatched to a minor traf- fic accident in the 500 block of Shirley Street Terrell Stevens had backed his vehicle into Greg HemphiU's 1991 Lexis. No injuries were reported and both drivers exchanged information. At 12:39 p.m., Officer Stephen Nelson was dispatched to a distur- bance at a residence in the 400 block of First St. Officer Nelson arrived and discovered the dispute was over a civil matter. Nelson resolved the situation without charges being filed. At 9:57 p.m., Officer Alley and the Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Depart- ment were dispatched to a dumpster fire in the 200 block of E. Main Street. The fire department quickly extin- guished the fire. The case is under in- vestigation. At 10:50 p.m., Sgt. Lattimore and Officer Perez received a criminal tres- pass call at the Cadillac Club, located at 405 Fairview Street. The suspect was contacted and issued a criminal trespass warning for the bar. No other police action was taken. April 15, at 7:15 a.m., Officer Nel- son was dispatched to a one-vehicle rollover in the 200 block of Old Altair Road. Eric Johnson was driving a Geo Prism and lost control, hitting a ce- ment culvert. The vehicle rolled end- over-end and landed back on its wheels. Johnson was transported to Rice Medical Center for minor injuries. State Trooper Sergio Villarreal inves- tigated the accident. At 11:28 a.m., Officer Nelson re- sponded to a major accident in the intersection of FM 3013 and E. Main St. Officer Nelson arrived and re- quested two EMS units and the Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Department. LaRue Andrews was traveling east bound in the 1500 block of E. Main St., driving a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria. Jason Locklear was traveling west bound on FM 3013 in a 2000 Oldsmo- bile. Reportedly, Locklear failed to yield the right of way at the stop inter- section, causing Andrew's vehicle to collide with the passenger side of his vehicle. Urbana Vasquez was the front seat passenger of Locklear's vehicle. The Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Department used the mechanical jaws of life to pry open the front passenger door of Locklear's car. Vasquez and Locklear were ex- tracted from the vehicle by fire and EMS personnel and transported to Rice Medical Center. Andrews was not injured in the accident. At 3:11 p.m., Sgt. Lattimore and Officer Perez were dispatched to an intoxicated person in the 400 block of East D Street. The suspect, Richard Davidson, was arrested for public in- toxication. April 16, at 1:03 a.m., Sgt. Latti- more and Officer Perez received a call of an intoxicated driver. Sgt. Lattimore located the sus- pected vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of East C Street. LCRA employees donate food Lower Colorado River Authority employees have donated $27,500 to help stock food pantries in 35 counties with nearly 200,000 pounds of food as part of the fourth annual "March Against Hunger Campaign". Among the 50 organizations re- ceiving donations are the Columbus Food Pantry and the Eagle Lake Min- isterial Alliance. The food will go to low-income families and elderly and handicapped individuals on fixed incomes in LCRA's service area. "This is the fourth year LCRA employees have made this donation to area food pantries," said Beverly Sef- fel, LCRA's manager of community assistance. "The donation is larger than previous years, reaching more food pantries, because our employees know the need has grown, and we care about the people in our communities." The donation came from the LCRA Employees' United Charities program. Employees voluntarily do- nate up to two hours of their hourly pay to United Charities each month, then decide how the funds will be distributed. LCRA employees donate food Lower Colorado River Authority

employees have donated $27,500 to help stock food pantries in 35 counties with nearly 200,000 pounds of food as part of the fourth annual "March Against Hunger Campaign".

Among the 50 organizations re- ceiving donations are the Columbus Food Pantry and the Eagle Lake Min- isterial Alliance.

The food will go to low-income families and elderly and handicapped individuals on fixed incomes in LCRA's service area.

"This is the fourth year LCRA employees have made this donation to

area food pantries," said Beverly Sef- fel, LCRA's manager of community assistance. "The donation is larger than previous years, reaching more food pantries, because our employees know the need has grown, and we care about the people in our communities."

The donation came from the LCRA Employees' United Charities program. Employees voluntarily do- nate up to two hours of their hourly pay to United Charities each month, then decide how the funds will be distributed. United charities puts an average of $275,000 into LCRA serv-
