SUMMER GUITAR CAMP

Has your child ever wished to play their favorite songs on the guitar? Has your child dabbledin learning to play, but got stuck in their progress? Zera  Music’s Summer Guitar Camp isdesigned to encourage musical gifting and to dive deeply into understanding how to play thechords of campers’ favorite songs. Each day of camp will consist of musical concept learningpertaining to playing the guitar. Students will receive personal feedback each day. For thisonline class, students will need an appropriately sized acoustic guitar. Additional supply listwill be sent upon registration.

Calling gamers and coders! Create your very own side scroller game with 8Bit Education asyou learn the basics of game design to make totally unique levels while learning thecomplexity of coding. When the game design and construction is completed, work with yourinstructor to debug and test the levels. As the class concludes, finalize your game to sharewith friends and family! Parents will download the free software to a Windows computer.

MUSICAL MINDS PIANO-KEYBOARD CLUB

Musical Minds’ unique piano method employs specially developed visual tools which teachstudents to read music notation very quickly. They will have the opportunity to select popularsongs to learn to play, such as radio hits and movie and television themes. The coursecombines piano lessons with learning games and activities in order to teach music theory, aswell as piano technique. Students of all ages enjoy this process of music education! Keyboardswill be delivered to students before the class begins and picked up following the conclusion ofthe class.

CAMP INVENTION: ELEVATE!

Developed by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Camp Invention is nationally recognizedand offers students an exciting environment with no wrong answers, lots of brainstorming,and an opportunity to build confidence, dream, and create their inventions. Under theleadership of Hyer science lab teacher, Lindsey Estill, campers will explore connectionsbetween science, technology, engineering, and math concepts and innovation. With a set offour themed kits providing an abundance of materials, this one of a kind program delivershours on hands on, high energy fun! With each kit, children take on a unique set of challengesthat build confidence, perseverance, and creative problem solving skills. Students will receiveall four modules listed below. Camp Invention Flight Lab Imaginations soar as children learn aboutprinciples of flight, going outdoors to experiment with paper planes andhand-copters. They also receive two robots - one to take apart and investigate,and one to customize as their very own flight simulation robot.  Rescue Squad As they  uncover ways to protect theEarth’s ecosystems, children will be eager to go outside and take on inspiringactivities. Campers explore bioluminescence as they use LEDs to create aglowing flower, and they build parachutes to safely airdrop animals, restoringbalance to their habitats.  Design Thinking Project Children learn the value of their creativity asthey enjoy open ended activities that bring their biggest ideas to life. Theyuse the materials in their kits to create sketches, build and test prototypes,design logos, and confidently pitch their products while protecting theirintellectual property.  Camp Invention Champions As they discover the great inventors behindtheir favorite sports, children apply their own game changing ingenuity anddesign thinking. They collect inventor playing cards, design and build theultimate sports complex, then head outside to play their new games.

MINECRAFT SOCIETIES

Students jump into Minecraft with 8Bit Education, on either a computer or tablet, and arechallenged to determine the components necessary for a grand city to function. Variouscornerstones of societies such as security, education, and healthcare, and their benefits to amodern city, are discussed. By completing various build projects, over the course of the classstudents will complete a city! Students must have a copy of Minecraft on the device to be usedfor the class.

Two great topics in one great STEM camp from Science Matters! Put your skills to the test inBuild and Discover as you build and create! Using the power of physics and engineering, makemachines that can dive, fly, cook, launch, and see the stars! Then, in Eco-Science, dig in asyou explore the wonders of the Earth. Curiosity is key as you observe the properties of water,weather, and biology. Join us to make seeds grow, learn why volcanoes erupt, and much more!Adult supervision required. PROGRAMMING WITH SCRATCH JR.

Have fun while learning coding concepts with 8Bit Education! Created by MIT, Scratch Jr.’seasy accessibility allows students to create fun animations with their iPads. Campers will startwith easy to follow along projects that will stack on each other as they learn the basic codingblocks of Scratch Jr. Critical thinking skills are encouraged as students have fun with the kidfriendly interface. At the end of the week, students will be able to showcase their projects totheir families and friends.Scratch Jr. is a free app from the Apple App Store.

KARATE NINJA CAMP

The Chamberlain Studios of Self Defense online karate Ninja Camp is a fun and action packedmartial arts class appropriate for brand new martial arts students, as well as those who havestudied before - all abilities are welcome! High ranking and knowledgeable instructors willtake students through various martial arts skills such as striking and kicking drills, self-defense techniques utilizing “shadow partners”, and martial arts forms (Kata). Students willget a great workout while learning new skills, martial arts history and terminology, andcharacter development! Also, there will be a certificate of completion and a two week trialmembership gift certificate for campers at the end of the camp. During the last half hour ofclass on Friday, parents can watch as students demonstrate the techniques they have learned!

Utilize MIT’s Scratch programming with 8Bit Education and build a foundation of codingknowledge. Students will be encouraged to use critical thinking as they study various codingprojects that are fun and easy to understand. Projects will consist of making retro style gamessuch as Pong, Outbreak, and others they will be able to share with family and friends. Scratchcan be downloaded and works with Apple and Window laptops and Google Chromebooks.

Adventures in Art Camp is back by popular demand, but this time online with professional,award winning artist Susan Garden, of the Robert Garden School of Art, teaching fine art andcreative thinking. In this all new curriculum, young artists will follow the instructor step bystep while Daniel, a nine year old student, demonstrates and reinforces what Susan teaches.Students will view and complete eight amazing finished works of art at their own pacecreating:
