Supervision and leadership are provided by the Oswego Family YMCA Program Directors

Many of our camp staff are experienced, returning staff who are working toward, degrees in education, or are teachers working during their summer break. FEE ASSISTANCE The Oswego YMCA does our best to keep Summer Camp cost reasonable, and is proud of its heritage and commitment to make its character-building, family-enriching programs available to everyone in our community. Fees are based on the cost of providing a safe and fun summer day camp experience. Due to the limited scholarship resources available, we first refer interested families to the Dept. of Human Services to apply for funding. We must have approval letter in hand in order to honor the discount. Any co-payments are the responsibility of the parents, and must be received prior to the week registered for camp.

If after you qualify for DHS funding and still need further assistance, we encourage you to apply for fee assistance here at the Oswego YMCA. Annually, we receive support from hundreds of members, community leaders and businesses who believe in our purpose. They contribute generously to our You are Y Campaign, investing in youth and families. These funds are distributed on a sliding needs scale to families with a documented financial need in our communities.

Subject to available YMCA resources and program space, no person will be denied participation because of an inability to pay. Drop by any Chicago Metro YMCA branch for an application, or visit us at www.oswegofamilyymca.org to download the application.

YOU ARE Y CAMPAIGN Each year many families receive fee assistance for membership and programs thanks to our You are Y Campaign. COUNSELOR IN TRAINING Love Camp? Interested in becoming a Y Camp Counselor some day? Then CIT is for you! Counselor In Training is a program for teens too old to be a camper, but too young to be a counselor. This program is best for those who have been a YMCA camper for at least one summer.

Counselor In Training is an interactive learning environment that provides an "insider" view into how camp runs and the responsibilities of the counselors who run it. CIT's will be instructed on much of the same material covered in our counselor staff trainings, and will be mentored by a Unit Leader in camp, helping them with programming, lessons and day to day activities. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, build self-esteem and prepare for a future opportunity as a day camp counselor. Candidates interested in joining our CIT program must submit an application with references, and proceed through an interview with the Youth and Family Program Director and Camp Hudson Coordinator.

CIT's application packets will be available beginning March 1st. Please contact Shellee McCullum at [email protected] for more information.

(Must be entering Grades 9 or 10)
