1. LEARNING BY DOING

i. Practice tying shoe laces and buttoning up your

shirt.

ii. Keep your room clean and well organized.

iii. Help your parents with daily chores.

iv. Don’t forget to spend time with your grandparents and help them.

v. Plant a tree and nurture it. Click the picture of its growth and paste it in scrap

book

2. BE AN ECO BUDDY

The earth is a common habitat for all living beings. It is the home of man, birds

and animals, vegetation and other creatures. All living beings depend on various

resources of the earth for their survival. It is our responsibility to take care of our

planet and conserve it for future generations. So let’s include very important 3Rs

(Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) in our lives.

Reduce

When buying food, only buy what you need. Where you can, and when safe, walk more instead of using the vehicle. This

reduces the petrol. Switch off electrical items, such as your television and games console, when

you are not using them – this will reduce the amount of energy you use. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth – you’ll reduce the amount of

clean water being wasted!

Re-use

When you are heading out to the shops, always take with you an old carrier bag. That way, you don’t need to pick up a new one and pay 5p for it!

When something is broken, see if you can mend it instead of throwing it away!

And if it can’t be mended, see if you can find a new use for it! Give unwanted items to charity! And re-use scrap paper – remember you can always use both sides of a

sheet of paper to draw on!

(Many materials that end up in your bin at home could be reused. Get creative and re-use old tin cans, containers, clothing, building materials or bags

Activities

Make a phone diary using papers from the old notebooks. Decorate your diary with pictures from old wedding cards and greeting cards. Write phone numbers of your parents, grandparents, two neighbours , fire brigade, police station, ambulance, your family doctor, friends, any one agency where we can send our leftover food for the needy etc.

Make an eco-friendly paper bag using newspapers. Write a slogan to save environment on it.

Recycle

Collage Making (in scrapbook): Do you know Tetra packs are more eco-friendly than bottles? Make a collage with cuttings of bags, tetra packs etc. which are having the sign of 3Rs. Sign of 3Rs is given below.

3. EAT HEALTHY, STAY HEALTHY

Summer Vacation is synonymous with fun, frolic, getting up late in the morning, playing for longer hours with friends, going for picnics, exploring new places and watching fun filled shows on television. But this is the time to take care of your health from the burning sun by-

Doing regular exercises and yoga

Eating healthy food

Drinking lots of water and juices

Poster making: Prepare a poster showing ‘Eat Healthy, Stay Healthy’.

4. Let the child explore the outside and

inside world: Taking students for an

educational trip during summer holidays

can help them to explore new things.

They can enjoy nature, explore and

learn about the world. It helps them to

enhance their general knowledge. But

during this pandemic a child can stay home and explore the world by watching

discovery channels (educational and geographical) and go through various videos.

5. Learn how to cook: Cooking is one of the most

interesting summer vacation activities for

students to be active. Learning how to cook can

benefit you in a number of ways. Listening to the

instructions during making a recipe can improve

your listening skills. Students learn to explore with their senses and also learn to

be well-organized. Moreover, knowing ones cooking skills may also land them up

in taking a career in this field in the future.

Keeping the children entertained all through the long summer break can be a

difficult task but by encouraging them to stay active and engaged, we can help

them to turn the long boring months into a fun-filled, interactive and innovative

learning experience. The given list of summer activities for learning can be of

great help in dealing with your problem with ease.
