T.E.A.C.H. D.C. Intern Spotlight

Kai IsaiaNBCDI and T.E.A.C.H. D.C. Operations Intern

Kai Isaia, a rising senior at Georgetown University, joined the T.E.A.C.H. D.C. Scholarship Program as theOperations Intern in May 2021. Along with her work forour national organization, The National Black ChildDevelopment Institute, Kai also contributed toT.E.A.C.H. D.C. through media and communicationsmanagement. Kai says this about her internshipexperience.

"I would like to acknowledge the amazing team at theNational Black Child Development Institute, at which Iwas a Policy Intern and later Operations andInstitutional Advancement Intern for the past year. Thefamily-like and mission-driven nature of the teamreminded me of the importance of community-based efforts to ensure the wellbeing andsuccess of our children and families.

From reports such as the Impact of COVID-19 on Black Families (https://lnkd.in/gsdwtQ8),programs such as TEACH DC which empowers ECE educators, and the NBCDI'semphasis on the health and wellbeing of Black children and families, I feel confident in myability to support youth and families in various settings moving forward."

We truly enjoyed working with Kai and having her ideas help shape the T.E.A.C.H. D.C.Scholarship Program overall. We wish her the best as she continues her collegiate journeyand beyond!
