Kathryn Wood has had a love of flowers all her life.Growing up on a large farm in a small town in Alabamagave her an appreciation for nature. The abundance offresh flowers she encountered while spending time inGermany while serving in the U. S. Army fueled her desireto someday own her own flower shop. That dream wasrealized when she bought Rex Florist in 1992. She grewthe business from an 800 square foot building to a 2800square foot store in Eagle’s Landing before selling herinterest in 2011.

She earned her Georgia Master Florist Certificationthrough the Georgia State Florist Association and wasactive in the organization throughout her career as a retailflorist. She won the Adelle Bartlett Trophy for Professionaldesign at the Southeastern Flower show in 1999. Kathrynloves to share her knowledge and love for flowers with herstudents and appreciates the opportunity CSU ConEd hasgiven her.

Chicago Style Steppin’ Level 1

Chicago-style Steppin’ is an improvisational formof partner dancing that consists of two peopledancing in synchronization to musical sounds ofR&B, Jazz, Soul, Soul or Rap Music. Digital Photography Hands-On Immersion

Would you like to take better pictures, consistently? Do you want to getmore organized with your digital photo collection, or edit your digitalimages to make each one look its best? In just two Saturday sessions,this hands-on course covers the skills that are needed to become a betterdigital photographer.

It begins with camera skills. The course explains the purpose of thoseunfamiliar controls found on digital cameras, and how they can be used toget better results. Students will learn how to avoid exposure mistakes andhow exposure controls can be used to create dramatic photographiceffects. You will also learn valuable shooting techniques: how to choosethe right lighting, when and how to use flash, and easy techniques forbetter photo composition.

The second skill is organization. Students will learn how to manage agrowing collection of images on the computer, how to save steps whendownloading images from the camera and how to back up photocollections for safekeeping. You will also learn software tools for “tagging”images so they are easy to find later and how to automate the process ofemailing images.

The third skill is image editing. The course will help you choose the rightsoftware for your needs. It demonstrates how to improve any image with abasic edit (brightness, contrast, color balance, retouching) by doing theright steps in the right order. IF WE CANCEL A COURSE: Each course is closely monitored toensure sufficient enrollment. Three business days prior to the startdate, if we do not have sufficient enrollment to cover our costs, wemay have to cancel or postpone the course. We will notify studentsby phone and email. Students may choose to receive a full refundor transfer to a different course.
