Apache Relay RaceAll campers go to the Big Gym and sit by the bleachers. Counselors must sit with theirColor War teams. Only Captains may escort participants in the race. Teams whosecounselors are not sitting with teams will be disqualified. This way some order can bemaintained. Captains, this is your responsibility. Once each race participant hascompleted his or her part, please have them report back the gym to see who will win.

1. 10 team members stand 1 behind the other in a line. Once the judge says go, use the inner tube provided, and have each participant place the inner tube over their head and through their entire body. Once finished, pass the inner tube to the person behind them and continue until all 10 team members have completed the task. Once finished, the last person in the line must…

Camp K’helah Color War Event Descriptions

Water Relay Race – Each team sits behind a designated start line. Approximately 20-30 feet in front of each team is an empty bucket. Using a spoon, a small cup, or something similar teams must one at a time, fill the bucket as high as they can in a certain time allotment. The team with the most water wins first place. The team with the 2nd most, wins second place and so forth.

Sponge Relay Race - Each team sits behind a designated start line. Approximately 20-30 feet in front of each team is an empty bucket. Using sponge teams must one at a time, fill the bucket as high as they can in a certain time allotment. The team with the most water wins first place. The team with the 2nd most, wins second place and so forth.

Top Chef Cooking Contest – Each team must create/decorate a food project with the supplies given. The most creative, tastiest and best project wins first place.

Steal the Bagel – Each team sits in a corner of the gym. Each team member is assigned a number. Each team must have the same numbers. If a team has less members than another team, assign children more than 1 number so everyone can participate. In the center of the gym, each team is assigned a basketball which is placed on a “bagel”. When a number is called, each team member with that number must run up and grab their ball. They must take their ball to the basket and shoot until the 1st person makes a shot, returns the ball to the “bagel” and sits down. The first team to do this receives 1 point. The first team to 10 points wins first place. The team with the 2nd most points gets 2nd place and so on.

Basketball Tournament – All 4 teams pick a number out of a hat to decide first game opponent. Teams who pick 1 play one another and teams that pick 2, play one another. Play 10 minute games. After 10 minutes, the team with the most points wins. The 2 winners play a 10 minute game against one another for 1st and 2nd place while the 2 losing teams play a 10 minute game against one another for 3rd and 4th place.

Soccer Tournament - All 4 teams pick a number out of a hat to decide first game opponent. Teams who pick 1 play one another and teams that pick 2, play one another. Play 10 minute games. After 10 minutes, the team with the most Goals wins. The 2 winners play a 10 minute game against one another for 1st and 2nd place while the 2 losing teams play a 10 minute game against one another for 3rd and 4th place.

Mystery Bags – Each team sits one behind the other. On the table are 10 bags filled with mystery items. Children are asked one at a time to come up and place their hand inside one of the bags. The child then must either write or verbally tell the judge what they think is inside the bag. The team with the most correct guesses wins. The team with the 2nd most correct guesses wins 2nd and so on.

Kickball Tournament - All 4 teams pick a number out of a hat to decide first game opponent. Teams who pick 1 play one another and teams that pick 2, play one another. Play 2 inning games. After 2 innings, the team with the most runs wins. The 2 winners play a 2 inning game against one another for 1st and 2nd place while the 2 losing teams play a 2 inning game against one another for 3rd and 4th place.

Name That Tune – Teams sit with one another. The judge will play approximately 10 seconds of a song on the cd player and each team must write down the title of the song on a piece of paper. After 20 songs, the team with the most correct songs wins 1st place. The team with the 2nd most correct songs wins 2nd place and so on.

Scavenger Hunt – Each team is given a list of items to collect. After time has elapsed, the team who collects the most items wins. If teams collect all items, the team that finishes first wins first place. If a team finishes first but has not collected all the items, the team who has collected the most items will win 1st place.

Sneaker Hunt – Teams sit in a corner of the room/gym. All campers are asked to remove their sneakers and are placed in the center of the room/gym. The judge then mixes the sneakers up. When the judge says go, campers race to the center to retrieve their own sneakers. Once found, they must proceed back to their corner and put their sneakers on and tie them. The first team to have all campers with shoes on and tied wins. The 2nd team to have all campers with shoes on and tied, wins second place and so on. It is important that all teams have the exact amount of participants.

It’s in the Oatmeal – Each team member is given a number. When their number is called, they must run to the Oatmeal bucket and search the bucket for a coin. The first person to find a coin gets the total amount of points of the coin found. Only 1 team can receive points when a number is called. Numbers are called until the first team to reach $10.00. The second team to reach $10.00 is second and so forth.

Ball Toss – Aluminum Cans are placed throughout the room. Each bucket has a point value, the further away the can, the higher the value. Each team stands in a line one behind the other. When it is their turn, they toss a ball and attempt to make it in the bucket. Whether or not they make it, each player takes one turn then proceeds to the back of the line until their turn comes again. Points are accumulated throughout the game and the team who has the most points after an allotted time is the winner.

Balloon Fetch – Toss the balloons throughout the room. Each balloon has a letter inside it. Once the judge says go, team members, one at a time must grab a balloon and pop it. Once they have found the letter inside the balloon they must place it on the table assigned to them. They must pop enough balloons to find all the letters in their color war team’s name. First team to find every letter and spell it out in order on their table will be in first place. Teams must continue until all 4 teams have spelled out their team name to determine first through fourth place.

2-Ball Basketball – On the basketball court judges will place numbered mats to determine point values. 2 teams will play at the same time. Each team must divide into pairs. Using both baskets, teams must take turns shooting the basket from any of the point values on the ground. If a basket is made, the team earns as many points as listed on the mat from where they shot from. No player can shoot twice in a row. After 6o seconds, scores will be tabulated. After each team has had everyone participate, the team with the most points wins first place. The team with the second most points wins second place.

30 Second Drill – 1 person from each team will have 30 seconds to make as many baskets as the can. Upon the judge giving the start signal, players start from the free throw line. After each teammate has gone, judge will add all scores up to determine winner.

Slop Search - Each team member is given a number. When their number is called, they must run to the Slop bucket and search the bucket for their team color’s gem. Once they find their team color’s gem, they must run back, place the gem in the bowl provided and tag the next person on line who must do the same task. The team to collect the most gems in 30 minutes wins.

Camp K’helah Kwest – Each team will sit in a corner of the gym. Each team will have 2 representatives at a time. Judges will then ask for an object, item or task. The team that finds the item or object or completes the task the fastest or best will receive 4 points. 3 points for 2nd, 2 points for 3rd and 1 point for 4th. The team with the most points at the end of the kwest, will win first place.

K’helah Quidditch – Each team must assign a keeper (goalie), a chaser (scorer with a soccer ball), a seeker (finder of the snitch) and 3-4 beaters (beach ball blockers). The chaser must get the soccer ball into the quidditch hoop (goal). If they score a goal, their team receives 10 points. Once a team scores a goal, teams reset and start again. The beaters use the bludgers to prevent the chaser from scoring a goal. While players are competing, the seekers are competing in a task and once completed must find the judges who will ask the seeker a question. If the seeker answers the question correctly, the judge who has possession of the snitch will give over the snitch and the game is over. The team who finds the snitch first receives 100 points.

Matching Memory Game – Is a classic concentration game where teams compete to find the most matches until all the matches are completed. The team with the most matches wins.
