If your oldest child is 6 or under and has never been enrolled in a school anywherethen you can register as a Preschool Family You will still have to ldquoopt outrdquo with your6 year old but you donrsquot have to officially register as New Family until your child is 7

The ASVAB Career Exploration program provides high-quality career exploration andplanning materials at no cost to high schools throughout the country The programencourages students to explore a wide variety of careers rather than limiting theirexploration by telling them what they can or should do Students explore occupationsin line with their interests and skills and also develop effective strategies to realizetheir career goals

The ASVAB test covers eight areas including science word knowledge

mathematics and mechanical comprehension It assesses a studentrsquos ability to learnnew skills and is a predictor of success in training and education programs The FindYour Interests (FYI) inventory is a 90-item interest inventory based on John Hollandrsquoswidely accepted theory of career choice When students complete the FYI they havethree interest codes to use with the OCCU-Find for career exploration TheOCCUFind contains 400+ occupations sorted by interest codes so students canidentify the occupations that match their own interests

If you have a 8 am testing time please be aware of any school zones you may be

driving through to get to Moody and allow extra time to travel Itrsquos important that yourstudent arrive on time so we can start testing on time

Bring 2 pencils Only high school students may use calculators but you must bringyour own one that you are familiar with (you may not use a cell phone as acalculator) Also make sure your student has eaten a good breakfast If he or sheneeds a snack there will be short breaks during the testing time Your student maybring a book to read or paper to draw on No electronic devices may be used (cellphones handheld games iPads etc)

All testing will be in the back building The gym will be open for parents and siblingsto wait If you want to go somewhere else (shopping park etc) during testing youmay Just make sure yoursquore back in time to pick up your student Do not leavestudents in the gym unsupervised If you have a student testing at 8 am and thenanother student testing at 1030 please do not have your students waitunsupervised until you come back If you have students testing at different timesand need to be elsewhere the entire morning please ask another parent to be incharge of your students Do not ask one of the testers to do this as she will be busytaking care of the details of the testing

8 am to 10 am Grades 1 2 3 1030 am to 1230 pm Grades 4 5 6 1 pm to 3 pm Grades 7 8 1 pm to 4 pm (TuWe) Grades 9-12

The scores will be available on-line to Crossroads about 4 weeks after tests arereceived for scoring We will print them and mail them out to all who took the test Ifyou have any questions just ask

Students MUST arrive no later than 6pm on graduation night You are free to inviteas many friends and family as you wish It is VERY important that students attendthe rehearsal Please bring your childs BLANK diploma to rehearsal Each studentshould memorize a verse (of your choosing) to be recited on graduationnight Please bring the scripture (written out in the version they will recite) torehearsal

GRADUATION

Tuesday May 16 2017 7 pm First Baptist Church of Trussville

All are welcome to attend there will be room for all of yourfriends and family who want to come There will be aprofessional videographer there recording the ceremony Allgraduates will receive a copy of the DVD If any of your familymembers wish to purchase a separate copy contact the schooloffice There will also be a professional photographer there totake pictures for the yearbook you will be able to purchase thesepictures if you choose

Rehearsal is 11 am on Tuesday May 16 There will be a seniorbreakfast at 9 am that morning at Cracker Barrel in TrussvilleContact Debbie Landry or Jenny Bartz to let us know yoursquorecoming so we can reserve enough space Please have all yourstudentrsquos records into the Crossroads office by Tuesday May 9This gives registrar Lori Booth time to verify everything requiredfor graduation If all records are not received before graduationwe will allow your student to walk in graduation but heshe willreceive a blank diploma cover When you turn in all yourcompleted records we will mail the diploma

May Day 2017Friday May 12City of Moody Ball Fields- in the back1000 am - 200 pmAll Ages Come on out to the Moody City Ball Fields for a fun day of family activities There willbe something for all ages There will be carnivalfestival type activities relay gamesas well as a great time of fellowship Here are some things you dont want to forgetEasy up tents picnic lunch chairs water sunscreen dads and grandparents andpocket change Some activities and games are free others are very inexpensive All proceeds go to the Childrens Hospital and Reading is Fundamental The KeyClub will be working hard to make this a success We are planning on having Steel City Pops from 11-2 pm with their yummy gourmetpopsicles They are $3 each so come prepared This was a huge hit If there is inclementsevere weather we will communicate through e-mail andCrossroads Facebook page

Alabama state diploma requirements have changed in the past few years not thatyou have to meet those requirements But we like for you to be aware of theserequirements in case your student may be thinking about re-entering public highschool Also there are a lot of vocational courses available as dual enrollmentcourses at local community colleges which our students can take if interested

Its surreal to think a long-awaited weekend flew by with a blink Most importantlywe bring awareness towards PTSD and we remember Anthony Clay Ward who liveson within each of our memories and reunions - Joseph M

Hi everyone It is that time of year again The 3rd annual Take the Reins Run inmemory of Cpl Anthony Clay Ward is coming up and like last year I am gatheringsupplies to help feed the many Marines and their families that come in for the RunTHANK YOU To everyone who donated last year Every little thing is a BIG help

For those of you who are wondering what in the world Irsquom talking about and havenrsquotheard of the Take the Reins Run or of The Red Barn the organization hosting theRun let me tell you about this wonderful organization The Red Barn is a non-profitgroup in Leeds that offers therapeutic horseback riding for those handicapped invarious ways They also offer special programs for veterans and their families allgeared towards healing I can personally say that this organization is amazing andhas touched many lives Clay Ward is the son of CRCS parents Allan and DebbieWard and on June 13th 2009 died of suicide a victim of PTSD Since then hisfellow Marine brothers have become family to the Wards and they will once againcome into town from all over the nation to run in Clayrsquos memory While The Red Barnis handing the actual run Debbie Ward will be hosting several meals for the 40+ menand their families As you can imagine hosting this many people is a large feat thatshe has undertaken and my job is to help by collecting donations and various fooditems needed in feeding these men This is a wonderful opportunity to show thesemen and their families who have given so much in the protecting of our countrysome southern hospitality and the Love of Christ Last year we had a great turn outand everyone was amazed and blessed by the meals The weekend of the run is avery healing time for these men their families and the Wards It is an honor andblessing to be able to serve them by serving a few meals smothered with southernhospitality and Christrsquos love

If you are interested in running with us registration is now OPEN This year the runwill be June 10th 2017 at Hoover Veterans Park and there will be a 5k and 10koption By participating you will not only be supporting The Red Barn but you will be
