Subject - English Q. 1- Read The following passage carefully and do as directed: Helen Keller, totally blind, still read far more books than most people who could see. She even wrote eleven books herself. Totally ldeaf, she enjoyed music far more than people who nould hear. For nine years of her life, she could not speak, yet later on in life she gave lecdtures in every state of America. She even made a movie on her life and acted in it! For a year and a half of her life Helen was normal. She could see and hears like other childdren, and had even begun to talk. Then suddenly she was struck down by an illness which left her deaf, dumb and blind at the tender age of nineteen months. Her parents sent her to the Perkins Institute for the Blind in Boston, hoping to find a teacher to control and guide her. Then like an angel, Anne Mansfield came into their unhappy lives. In one short month, Anne was able to communicate with Helen. She stayed on to educate the girl. Helen lived life to the full in spite of her handicaps. She rowed a boat, swam and galloped through the forests on horseback. She also knitted and crocheted. Helen Keller showed that we can not only come to terms with our handicaps but also overcome them and become truly succesful.
