A Dad’s guide to studying like a pro

From the moment you held that little baby in your arms, you knew your life

was going to change forever...

Taking the plunge into study can be one of the hardest decisions you make. It is a huge investment of time and money but it is also an incredible investment in your children’s future.

You want what’s best for your family and you may not think that you can juggle it all, but with the skills you already have, you can, and will, succeed in your studies.

Driver -- take a swing off the tee.

Taking the first step can be daunting and as you step up, driver in hand to take your first swing, you may be worried about how it’s going to go.

To get the most out of every shot, you first assess all of the internal factors (strength, ability, competitiveness) and external factors (wind, weather, slope).

Just as you take all of this into consideration before you step up to the tee, it is important to think about all of the internal and external factors that could affect your study, before you start.

Take your time during the semester to learn as much as you can about the industry you are going into from your peers and lecturers. During the semester, you will be inspired and challenged to become the best you can be and gain important skills to become highly employable when you apply for that dream job.

You’ve applied for your program, you’ve been accepted and you’re prepared for the semester ahead. Just as you do with a 9 iron, you know that with a good hit, you’ll be on the green.

Whip out the sand wedge, we're taking the scenic route through the bunker...

Sometimes ending up in the bunker can be seen as an epic failure in golfing terms, but if you’ve ever sliced into the sand, you would know that some of the best golfing stories start with facing adversity and coming back after a wild swing.

What you see as a bad situation is quite often worse than it seems. Sometimes you have to manage the expectations you have for yourself and realise that scraping a pass isn’t a fail. It’s an opportunity to better yourself next Semester.

You're on the green, you did it!

Even with the ups and downs of study, you made it to the green… you did it! Being on the green is the feeling you will have at graduation, a great sense of achievement and triumph over the obstacles you have overcome to be there.

You will work so hard for your degree and the skills you have learnt will empower you to achieve great things as you begin this new path in your career.

Whether it took you 3 or 49 swings to get to that green, there is always a sense of relief when you make it.

From the day you apply to the day you graduate, we will be there to celebrate your successes, help enhance your study skills and support you when you need extra help.
