    Why learning how to learn?

The illiterate of the 21stcentury will not be thosewho cannot read and write, but those who cannotlearn, unlearn, and relearn. Alvin Toffler

Because half of what you know will be outdated inapproximately three years, and the amount ofknowledge available to the average person doubles

    about every th

ree years, learning becomes a pre-requisite for a productive life. David A. Whetten

We should thus become life-long learners.

Ask yourself questions and answer them in your own words Underline/highlight and make marginal notes of the key words

    During Class

Keep your attention focused on what your lecturer issaying. Listen for signal statements such as themost important point is, remember that etc.

    Use abbreviated forms, e.g. w/ = with, w/o = without,etc. = and so on, avg. = average, % = percent etc.

Place a question mark next to information you

recorded but do not understand. If the lecturer speaks too fast ask him/her to slow

down or to repeat the information
