Motor Feeder Bench

1. Presentation of the equipment

This equipment is designed to carry out exercises on implementation of three-phase direct motor feeder diagrams. Circuit voltage and current measurements can be taken in complete safety.

1.1 Composition

The motor feeder bench has two working surfaces that can be used at the same time.

One surface contains the automatic mode where only power is to be cabled, while the other surface contains the manual mode where all cabling is to be performed.

Each surface has a measurement and test station (voltmeter, ammeter, etc.) used to take measurements.

The power components are housed at the base of the bench:

− Asynchronous motors

− DC motors

− A rheostat with variable load

1.2 Data

Mechanical data

Height: 1350 mm; Width: 700 mm; Depth: 700 mm

Weight: approx. 190 kg

Electrical data

The bench is supplied by a three-phase 400 V electrical network with earth

Voltage: 400V three-phase ± 10 %

Frequency: 50/60 Hz ± 5 %

Current: 16 A, connection by 3P + earth socket

Power absorbed: 2 kVA

The conventional short-circuit current is fixed at 3 kA.

Rated surge withstand voltage: 2.5 kV

Electric shock protection class: l

Installation class: II

Measuring class: II

The electrical network must be fitted upstream of the equipment with an RCD (Residual Current Device) with a sensitivity of ≤ 30 mA class AC (not supplied).

1.3 Main functions

The two surfaces of the equipment represent three-phase direct motor feeder diagrams.

Safety bushes and components allow completely safe cabling.

The main components are as follows:

The protection components include disconnector, fuse and circuit-breaker.

The electric motor control components include direct contactor, changeover contactor, time-delay contactor, star delta connection and decelerator starter.

Measurements can be taken using the built-in voltmeters and ammeters. A rheostat is used to make load current vary in the DC generator.

The automatic mode offers five starting types:

− Direct starting

− Star-delta starting

− Changeover

− Tesys U or Integral 18 starter

− Electronic decelerator-starter

The manual mode offers the same starting types except that the control part must be cabled. The electronic decelerator-starter is not included in this mode.
