Sports bring out the best in people. It is really inspiring to see the participants absolutely immersed in the game, working as a team and cheering each other on.

Swami Vivekanand said-“In kicking a ball or playing a game, you can be much closer to the divine than you will ever be in a prayer. Because you can pray without involvement but you cannot play without involvement.”

However, involvement should never degenerate into entanglement. In other words my dear children-give your hundred percent to the game, if you win, great, if you lose that is okay too. Don’t be a poor loser. Cherish the experience of involvement –you will either win or learn. Taking a loss in your stride with commitment to try harder next time is indicative of high character and a resilient spirit. So be a sport when you play a sport!

COLLABORATION

“Verbally, collaboration reveals an apparent ambiguity lying at the heart of its

own historical meaning.”

It all started when I was teaching about the features of magazine articles, that

an idea of creating a magazine was initiated by students of MYP 2. Enthralled by

their conception I was excited to introduce the concept of collaboration.

When students started progressing towards the goal of making a magazine, they

realised the impact of collaboration. The motivation has often brought students

together to face new challenges and opportunities. From all the complexities of

making a magazine emerged transformation and enriched relationship for both

teacher and students, for comfortable and active learning. Hence I believe

working cooperatively (collaboratively) together helps because there is mutual

responsibility taken by faculty and students.
