The complete list of subject names and prefixes

Course RegistrationSubject Names and Prefix Key

If you do not want to scroll through the long list

of subjects, click once inside the subject box to

activate it. This will select a subject closest to your

cursor and that is okay.

Next, type the first letter of the prefix for the

section of courses you would like to jump to in

the menu. You can jump forward or backward in

the list by typing the first one to three letters of

the prefix in quick succession. When you enter

multiple letter combinations, always type the

characters in quick succession. If you find that you

are only jumping to the first letter typed in the

series of letters, try to type a bit faster.

Course RegistrationHow to use advanced search options

For example, if you want to take an undergraduate Anthropology course on Tue or Thur, you can enter those details to refine a search for courses only matching those characteristics.

Using the Advanced Search option can help you limit the results displayed by filtering out courses that do not meet your specific needs. You can also access course sections faster.

Be sure to select the Advanced Search option first, A   and then on the next screen select the subjects. TIME SAVER:

You can search for courses within a specific course level. Enter the first numeral of the course level followed by the % sign. The % sign is a wildcard, which can represent any numeral (or letter) in its position.

For example, to search for only

100-level courses, enter 1% 200-level courses, enter 2% 300-level courses, enter 3% 400-level courses, enter 4% 500-level courses, enter 5% 600-level courses, enter 6% 700-level courses, enter 7%

Using this method, you will see all of the available course sections matching the selected subjects and course level entered. For an example, jump to page 13.

Leaving the Course Number box blank will return a comprehensive list of all courses and course levels for the selected subjects. You will also have the extra step of selecting View Sections for each course individually. For an example go back to page 9.

Course RegistrationHow to search a single subject by course level and day

To save time, SELECT the Advanced Search option to filter courses by various attributes.

For example, if you want to take an undergraduate Anthropology course on Tuesday or Thursday only, you can enter those details and hopefully, find a match.

The screen below shows the results filtered by these attributes: Subject: Anthropology; Course Level: Undergraduate; and Days: Tuesday and Thursday.

This is an example an Advanced Search screen with three attributes selected to filter the results.

The letter ‘C’ in the column labeled ‘Select,’ means the section is closed with no wait lists.

Course RegistrationHow to search multiple subjects by course number and course level

8c

This screen shows results for an advanced search filtered by these attributes: Subjects: Chemistry / Greek / Latin / Zoology / 3% (entered for the course number) / Undergraduate (entered for the course level)

If you need help with selecting multiple subjects in a course search, review page 8.

To select a course section, check the box in the first column

next to the CRN number. A check mark should appear in the box as indicated in this example.

If you search for multiple subjects, the results page will display the course sections for each subject. Use the Select column to choose the courses you would like to register for or add to a worksheet to register later in this session.

Adding courses to a worksheet will NOT hold a seat for you. You must register for the course(s) to reserve a seat in the course. Worksheet entries are available during the current session only. When you logout, the worksheet will be cleared.

Course RegistrationCommon registration errors

You will not be able to register for a course if you have not fulfilled the prerequisite requirement. Check the catalog to review the prerequisites for the course. If you have earned the prerequisite, contact the departmental office offering the course.

At some point in your college career, you may try to register for a course with prerequisites and/or co-requisites connected to the course.

The new system checks your course history, if you have not taken the prerequisite for the course, you will not be able to register for the course until the prerequisite is taken, passed, and appears in your course history.

If you try to register for a course that has a co-requisite, the system displays a warning message stating that a co-requisite is required. The notification will display the course you want to take and the co-requisite. Use the CRN values shown for the course and the co-requisite and enter those numbers to the ‘Add Classes Worksheet,’ and then select Submit Changes.
