This document outlines the student assignment submission process. Step 1: Claim Portfolium Account First time users will need to claim their Portfolium account. Student Assignment Entries in Portfolium In addition to self-selected Portfolium entries, students may be requested to submit a Portfolium Assignment entry. This document outlines the student assignment submission process.

Step 1: Claim Portfolium Account

First time users will need to claim their Portfolium account. There are two ways to claim a Portfolium

account. The first way is within the Tarleton Blackboard learning management system and the second is

directly on the Portfolium website at http://tarleton.portfolium.com. Note: Portfolium will be available even

after graduation and does not require continued Blackboard access.

Method 1: Claim Account via Blackboard 1. Log in to Blackboard (http://blackboardlearn.tarleton.edu) 2. From the My Blackboard tab, locate the Tools module and select Portfolium.

3. A new window will appear with three options: Add Work, Update Profile, and Activity Feed. Select the Update Profile button to begin. If this is your first time to access Portfolium, you will be instructed to claim your account. The next step will be to start the Student Onboard Process located on Page 3: Step 2.

Method 2: Claim student account directly from Portfolium

This method does not require Blackboard access.

1. Navigate to Portfolium (http://tarleton.portfolium.com) 2. Use assigned Student Go.Tarleton Email Address and select Continue.

3. A first time user will be instructed to have the activation email resent if the account has not been activated before. If this option is presented, select the Resend Welcome Email button.

4. Navigate to the Go.Tarleton Student Email Address login and open up the message sent from

Portfolium. Select the Access My Portfolium button from the email message.

5. The account will now be activated.

Step 2: Student Onboarding (for First Time Users):

The first time Portfolium is accessed, four quick questions will be presented to get you thinking about the benefits of an ePortfolio.

1. Select type(s) of ways you think you’ll use this new ePortfolio.

Determine how you’ll

use your new ePortfolio.

Once selected, the student

onboarding process will start.

How to access the University

Step 1: Navigate to www.tarleton.edu

Step 2: Hover over the Login link

Step 3: Select Student Email

Step 4: Select the green Login button.

2. Edit skills that have either already been gained or hope to achieve by graduation. Portfolium suggests popular skills in your major. Additional skills can be added by typing them in.

3. Your portfolio is designed to showcase several experiences both in and outside the classroom. Decide what other types of entries you hope to add over time.

4. Next, optionally attach a resume you have one already created. A resume can be added later.

Don’t worry if you are not

ready to attach a resume.

add to your new ePortoflio.

5. The final step is to set a password for the account. Remember: Portfolium can be accessed outside Blackboard and will be available after graduation. This final step ensures you can access Portfolium after graduation.

Step 3: Submitting Portfolium Assignment Entries

Portfolium entries can be added after the account has been claimed.

There are two types of entries: Student generated entries and assignment generated entries that are preloaded. The preloaded assignment entries will be designated with an assignment tag on the entry. The following steps outline how to submit a Portfolium Assignment entry.

1. Log in to Blackboard (http://blackboardlearn.tarleton.edu) 2. From the My Blackboard tab, locate the Tools module and select Portfolium.

3. A new window will appear with three options: Add Work, Update Profile, and Activity Feed. Select the Update Profile button to begin.

4. Select the Portfolio tab and locate the assignment. Next, select the ellipses (3 dots) next to the assignment and choose Edit.

Note: If no assignment is listed in this portfolio area, the instructor has not published their Portfolium course. An instructor will need to publish the course in order for the assignment to be visible for students.

Select Edit to begin the

Assignment Authoring stage.

Notice the assignment

label on the entry.

Step 4: Assignment Authoring

Once an assignment is in Edit Mode, there are three phases of assignment creation:

1. Basic Info 2. Details & Attachments 3. Settings

The following screenshots detail the three assignment phases.

Phase 1: Basic Info

Add up to 5 images Choose a category Give it a title Add a description

Phase 2: Details & Attachments

Tag your teammates Tag your entry with keywords, aka hashtags Enter the skills and software that you used Attach files - Word docs, PowerPoints, Excel Spreadsheets, and PDFs Embed links

Add up to five pictures to

describe the entry.

The Category & Sub

Category should be preset.

Please leave these set.

The Title should be preset.

This can be updated, if desired.

Modify the description,

if desired.

Phase 3: Settings

Edit Privacy Allow/Disable comments Delete Entry

Set the desired privacy level.

Your instructor may have

supplied a recommended

setting to use.

If the assignment will be public,

determine if comments can be left.

If this was a group assignment, tag

group members in the assignment.

Make the assignment easier to

search and add “tags.”

Skills will be prepopulated. Feel free

to add more if they fit the assignment.

Attach a document such as

Word, PowerPoint, Excel,

PDF, etc. to the entry.

Public entries can be viewed at

http://portfolios.tarleton.edu.

Confirm the
