Another thing that I like its that I improved a lot in snowboarding and biking and I have my AST 1(Avalanche Safety Training) my CASI 1 (Snowboard Instructor LEVEL 1) and we are going to do our mountain bike instructor certifi- cation. Those are things that I never im- agined that I could have. In general I liked everything about this academy.” Marta exclaims, “Of course I will recom- mended this academy! If you like to do ski, snowboard and biking or you just want to learn how to do it, it's the per- fect place to do it, and at the same time you are doing school work, so you can go to school, learn, and have fun at the same time as you are doing the sports that you like. I think the price of the academy is per- fect because many of those exams that we did like CASI or AST are expensive, and with the academy everything was included in the price.” Diego Anton Villadangos describes his craziest experience with the SBBA, “It was in February, after one week of non stop snowing. On the Wednesday night, there was 50CM of new snow! Thursday, we went skiing and in some places we couldn't ski because there was so much snow. I think that was one of my best ski days in my life !” Miriam Ruiz tells us that in the program there are 16 students. “We all work well together because we are doing what we like and we can share it. This academy is a really good opportunity to ski or bike with people that you don't usually go with. The experiences I leave with are the powder days. Like the day that it snowed 50 cm; that was amazing and I will never forget it! This academy will help me in the future because of the fact that I got my ski in- structor level 1. As I live near the moun- tains I will be able to work in my Ski Re- sort and make some money.” Pemberton Secondary 2016

The International Students of the PSS Ski Board Bike Academy (SBBA) 2015-2016 With teacher, Mr. Daryl Treadway

Marco Fiuza says that as an internation-

al student who graduated before com-

ing to Canada, the SBBA is perfect for

those who want to improve their Eng-

lish skills and communication, but

mainly for those who love skiing/

snowboarding and mountain biking.

For Marco’s needs, not necessarily only

academics, the Ski Board & Bike Acade-

my provided him with great experienc-

es, lots of new knowledge and the de-

velopment of skills that he never

thought he would have. Marco shares

that for those who are interested in pho-

tography and film studies, the students

had this experience, too.

Marco spent five brief months in Pem-

berton, and he says he experienced “a

very strong sense of community and

mutual help that is hard to find in other

places. The school has lots of extra activ-

ities to join in apart from regular classes,

so there is always something to do.

The SBBA is a unique opportunity that

should be taken by those who are into

sports and adventure. Excellent experi-

ence!”

Marta Peña says that what she likes best

is that “The group in SBBA has become

a little ‘family.’ If someone has a prob-

lem with their skis or their bike and you

don't know how to fix it, many people

are there to help you; or if you have a

problem on the hill or biking they will

always help you and that's a really good

thing. Another thing that I like its that I

improved a lot in snowboarding and

biking and I have my AST 1(Avalanche

Safety Training) my CASI 1 (Snowboard

Instructor LEVEL 1) and we are going to

do our mountain bike instructor certifi-

cation. Those are things that I never im-

agined that I could have. In general I

liked everything about this academy.”

Marta exclaims, “Of course I will recom-

mended this academy! If you like to do

ski, snowboard and biking or you just

want to learn how to do it, it's the per-

fect place to do it, and at the same time

you are doing school work, so you can

go to school, learn, and have fun at the

same time as you are doing the sports

that you like.

I think the price of the academy is per-

fect because many of those exams that

we did like CASI or AST are expensive,

and with the academy everything was

included in the price.”

Diego Anton Villadangos describes his

craziest experience with the SBBA, “It

was in February, after one week of non

stop snowing. On the Wednesday

night, there was 50CM of new snow!

Thursday, we went skiing and in some

places we couldn't ski because there was

so much snow. I think that was one of

my best ski days in my life !”

Miriam Ruiz tells us that in the program

there are 16 students. “We all work well

together because we are doing what we

like and we can share it. This academy is

a really good opportunity to ski or bike

with people that you don't usually go

with.

The experiences I leave with are the

powder days. Like the day that it

snowed 50 cm; that was amazing and I

will never forget it!

This academy will help me in the future

because of the fact that I got my ski in-

structor level 1. As I live near the moun-

tains I will be able to work in my Ski Re-

sort and make some money.”
