Note from Nancy
Traditionally, string quilts were sewn to a newspa-
per foundation. After stitching the fabric “strings”
to the newspaper, the paper was painstakingly
removed. Fast forward to the 21st century. Ginger
and Bobbie’s use of a polyester mesh stabilizer
as the foundation piece changes the process!
The stabilizer is lightweight and can stay as part
of the quilt—no removal necessary. What a great
way to create string quilts!
