STRESS REDUCING TIPS FOR
STUDENTS DURING EXAMINATION:
STRATEGY TO INCREASE MARKS
VICE CHANCELLOR’S MESSAGE Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity.
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to IEC University.
IEC University Solan Himachal Pradesh has been established in year 2012 by the Government of
Himachal Pradesh in the form of a non-affiliating, teaching and research University. The University aims
at facilitating and promoting studies, research, technology incubation, product innovation and extension
work in Science, Technology and Management Education for achieving excellence in higher technical
education.
The University provides a congenial environment for the holistic growth and all round development of the
student through suitably designed teaching learning processes. The training is provided to the students
such that they become globally acceptable personalities with communication skills, proper attitudes and
aptitudes, problem solving capabilities and to work in as team. Due care is also taken to imbibe not only
technical skills but also the values and social adaptability and human sensibility as integral part of his/her
mindset and to make him/her a complete "self".
My personal advice to the young minds is that, don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what
they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe you can achieve.
IEC provides you the best platform to impart innovative, industry oriented education for excellence in
technical, management and professional fields and I am proud to announce that we are well equipped and
motivated to handle the challenges.
I always say that I am not a teacher but a student first and then an awakener.
As an educationist I believe that the society has laid big responsibilities on my shoulders and realizing the
same I am determined to take the roads further to still diversified higher education by introducing Ph. D
and new programmes. My focus during my services to IEC would be producing excellent skills to serve
the society.
Education has open many doors, however there are still innumerable doors shut, unopened yet. These are
the doors of future. Perhaps many of my children will open one or more of these doors............I shall help
get them the keys.
I welcome you to the portals of IEC University for realizing your dreams and to make the best use of
opportunities & facilities for transforming yourself into a competent technical professional and a great
human being.
At the end I would mark my message: that an investment in knowledge pays the best interest.
Looking forward to meet you personally.

STRESS REDUCING TIPS FOR STUDENTS DURING THE EXAMS Exam time can be super stressful, and sometimes no matter how hard you try to keep your
cool, things get on top of you. Learn how to reduce stress with these tips!
When exams are looming most students feel the crunch in a big way. However, there are
ways to help them take the pressure off. To help you keep away exam stress and exam
anxiety, IEC has come up with some tips. The tips for reducing exam pressure and
overcoming exam fear are drawn from everyday habits and lifestyle of people. Some of
these tips to stay calm during exams are known to us, while some may be new. Read on to
learn more about different tips to reduce exam stress.
How to deal with exam stress?
1. Prioritize your time Prioritizing your time, subjects and workload will help reduce your stress levels, as you'll be able to ensure that the
really important stuff is covered – and at the right time. If you've got more than one exam to tackle, draw out a
simple diagram with dates of each exam and how many topics need to be covered.
This will give you a clear idea of how much time you need to dedicate to each exam topic and when you need to get
started on your revision, so there won't be any nasty surprises. As you progress through your revision, tick off the
topics that you've completed – this will give you a small sense of achievement, knowing that you've finished
something and are making your way to the finish line.
2. Make yourself a revision timetable This is pretty closely related to the tip above, but we can't stress enough how taking a bit of time to get yourself in
order will make you feel more confident for these exams. As our handy five-step guide to becoming the most
organized person on the planet so rightly states, making a revision schedule and writing to-do lists each day will
keep you super prepared and on track to getting everything done – and on time.
Working out a daily routine and sticking to it is also good for the soul, as you'll feel a lot more in control of how
your day pans out. Remember to factor in regular breaks (we recommend at least 10 minutes every hour and a half
or so, if not more) as these will do you wonders.
3. Exercise and eat well Yes, we know, you're exhausted. Sometimes the idea of exercising during times of high stress feels like the last
thing you want to do, but we guarantee you will feel better afterwards (and could even have a bit more energy to
do an hour more revision afterwards if you're feeling up to it).
Exercise gets your blood flowing and your heart pumping – the result being that you sort of 'wake up on the inside'.
As a result, once you stop, you're much more alert then you were before. Give yourself that push to get out for a
run, go to the gym or just do a short work out in your bedroom. Exercise is a proven stress buster as it fills your
brain with endorphins, which are basically happy hormones.
Eating the right foods during stressful times is also absolutely crucial for mental health – we have an entire list of
the best foods to eat during exam time for you to check out. Not only have these snacks been proven to reduce
stress, but they also increase brain power!
4. Avoid social media This will be a tough one for many students, but if you can bear to part with your beloved Instagram for a few days,
it'll do wonders for your stress levels. Checking your Facebook during revision period is the worst type of
procrastination possible, as we all know how quickly the time disappears when you're snooping on your news feed.
In addition to this, many of your friends will be in the same boat, so are likely to be talking a lot about how much
they're studying (or not studying). This is likely to stress you out even more, or at least influence how much time
you're spending revising.
You can break up your revision periods with some well-earned rests (and well-needed ) science says that revision is
much less effective if you study for any longer than about 90 minutes straight!) every now and then.
5. Have some perspective This is perhaps easier said than done, but tries not to give you such a hard time. You're doing your best and that's the
best you can do! Keep your eye on the bigger picture, and remember that one result isn’t the end of the world..
Putting yourself under a lot of pressure will only have a negative effect, and as much of a cliché as this is, worrying
really doesn't solve anything.
Being good to yourself during periods of high stress is likely to give you a bit more motivation to work harder, so try
splashing out on a massage to cheer yourself up, or go out for dinner with a friend to take your mind off things.
You've probably managed to save a bit of money by not going out much during exam period, so now's the time to
spend it!
If you want to reduce your stress really then try to write some words in 24 hours!
SOME IMPORTANT POINTS FOR STUDENTS TO INCREASE THE MARKS IN EXAMS AND
CONCENTRATE ON STUDY:
1. Firstly students should have to focus on previous years question papers related to subjects
2. Students should draw a chart about study menu during the exam
3. They should have opted every question confidently, because adoption of questions is very important
from the question paper
4. Students should attempt questions carrying higher marks and then carrying lower marks
5. Concept of question paper must be cleared
6. Sections should not be merged: if any student is attempting the section A or section D then he or she
should clearly mention which question is being answered from section A or section D
7. Students should try to attempt all the questions with in the exam time
8. In the last five minutes before submitting the answer sheet students should revise and verify the
answers according to questions and also check the name, roll no. etc. briefly
9. At last, every student should prepare himself/herself according to examination dates and every study
material should be ready so that students could face the examination situations very positively.
10. Keep in mind that a loss of even 2-5 marks in each paper due to negligence could have negative
bearings on your efforts to get admission in college or being selected in competitive exams.
