The IF Foundation’s delivery structure.

1. Education
The IF Foundation works closely with our
target groups delivering relevant, engaging
and culturally sensitive education programs
which help develop social, emotional and
behavioural skills in a manner that resonates
so as to attract our audience not coerce.
Primary prevention approaches can be
eectively targeted by embedding messaging
and education tools into activities that are un
and engaging, like the arts.
The overall aim is to enhance a healthy and
peaceul community environment which
will lead to success at school and success in
employment. Nurturing the natural creativity
o youth in particular and keeping it alive as
they advance through the education system
and into proessional lie will play a clear role
in building stronger communities.
These educational programs include:
• Roebourne Girl FX Academy
• SHAHRP
• Leading for success – in school
program
• Nanna’s FX
• Engage to Achieve
• Head Start; Mums and Bubs
• Head Start; Father & Sons
• Nite Star
Community violence and anti-social
behaviour touches almost everyone’s lie.
It does not discriminate, is widespread,
harmul and in our opinion o increasing
concern. The IF Foundation takes a
public health approach to addressing
the issue o community violence in line
with recommended strategies rom the
World Health Organisation (2002) and
Injury Control Council o WA (2012) and
numerous other green papers.
The IF Foundation provides a platorm to
tackle community violence and to make
a signifcant dierence to the lives o WA’s
youth. Our health promotion approach
is a process o enabling people to take
control over the determinant o their
health.
This is achieved through our core
elements impacting both the individuals
and their communities.
To make a real dierence to West Australia’s youth we ensure we assist all parts o their
community to encourage a positive environment or the long term.

4. Partnership
This priority area lacks the benefts o strong
leadership and interagency collaboration.
Accordingly the IF Foundation aims at creating
a participative approach to solving the most
critical o social issues acing our community, by
leveraging the collective energies o all in a way
that amplifes them.
The IF Foundation works closely with key
stakeholders such as local government, criminal
justice agencies, education institutions and local
groups to aggregate eorts and create a critical
mass that builds momentum to bolster the eorts
and eectiveness o all initiatives.’
Working in isolation makes it impossible to address
the issues eectively. Change will only happen with
a collective eort based on common principles.
The IF Foundation would not be where it is today without the ongoing support o our sponsors. We are
proud they are working together with the IF Foundation to achieve a positive goal; to shape a bright uture
or West Australia’s youth.
2. Awareness & Advocacy
Traditionally violence has been the domain o
the criminal justice system. But as the leading
cause o death and injury worldwide, and
the single largest burden on our healthcare
system, it is time to address the root causes by
involving all sectors o society in prevention
eorts, and raising it’s priority on our State and
National agendas.
The IF Foundation aims to raise awareness
about the impact o violence and what we
can do to make a dierence. To achieve
and maintain awareness the IF Foundation
leverages the strength o the media, social
media & high profle Ambassadors to generate
discussion in the community about the issue
o violence on our streets & position the
IF Foundation as the primary not or proft
organisation against violence in WA.
The IF Foundation ocus is to nurture young
people and help them achieve their greatest
potential by ensuring they have access to
support, guidance & legislation that protects their
interests. To eect these large scale population
level changes, this means mobilising all sectors
o the community to raise it voice, discussing the
issue at every available opportunity, especially
public speaking orums and engagements and
across their own individual social mediums.
Our ambassadors include:• Nic Naitanui
• Leisel Jones
• Damian Martin
• Scott Cummings
• Gary Ablett Jnr
• Liz Ellis
• Corporal Mark Donaldson VC
• Corporal Ben Roberts Smith VC
• Buddy Franklin
• Scott Pendlebury
• Shae Bolton
3. Research
The IF Foundation respects the importance o
researching the key driving actors behind violent
behaviour and how programs can be tailor made
to dramatically reduce youth violence.
Clearly the act o violence is not the beginning o
the problem, but in act the end. The IF Foundation
aims to work with the appropriate agencies to
identiy where it all begins and increase support or
data collection and evaluation on programming.
Research clearly demonstrates that the reduction
o actors that place youth at risk o violence and
the strengthening o actors that protect youth
rom violence can occur. Approaches proven
to eectively address these actors are available,
and a growing body o evidence indicates these
approaches can be cost-eective and have longlasting benefts.
Most research is in o an international context,
thereore supporting and evaluating locally created
solutions can ultimately lead to national models
or community based social services that are
relevant, culturally sensitive, replicable and scalable.
Furthermore, primary prevention strategies aimed
at reducing violence can lower the risk o other
critical social issues such as alcohol and substance
abuse, academic ailure and obesity.
