Billy: A circle.Aly: A rectangle.Michael: A square.Caitlin: A triangle.

Miss Saraceni: Very good, you have mentioned the shapes that we have learned about this year. Who can tell me something about a circle?

Michael: It is round and has no sides.

Miss Saraceni: Michael you are correct. Caitlin, can you tell me something about rectangles?

Miss Saraceni: That is a perfect explanation of a rectangle. Billy, can you tell me something about triangles?

Billy: Triangles have three sides. The sides can be equal sometimes, but not always.

Miss Saraceni: That is also a good explanation. Aly, can you tell me something about a square.

Aly: Squares have four sides and each side is equal to the other sides.

Miss Saraceni: Can anyone tell me where we can find these shapes?

Michael: We draw them on paper, or the white board. And sometimes we see them on the flash cards that we use.

Miss Saraceni: Michael, you are correct, but there are also different places where we can find shapes.

Aly: But where Miss Saraceni?

Page 3: storyboard

Miss Saraceni: Well Aly, we can begin by looking around our classroom. Can you find an object that is in the shape of a circle?

Aly: Hmmm, what about the clock?

Miss Saraceni: Excellent, the clock is in fact a circle. Who can find me an object in the shape of a rectangle?

Billy: The table is a rectangle Miss Saraceni.

Miss Saraceni: You are correct Billy, the table is a rectangle.

Michael: Miss Saraceni, isn’t this book a rectangle also?

Miss Saraceni: Yes Michael, the book is also in the shape of a rectangle. What about a square?

Joey: The carpet we are sitting on is a square.

Caitlin: The map is a square.

Aly: The cubbies are also square shaped!

Miss Saraceni: But you can also find these objects at home, on the playground, in the store and many other places. Can anyone tell me objects at home that are either a circle, rectangle, square or triangle?

Billy: A teepee is a triangle.

Aly: The sun and moon are circles.

Caitlin: Doors are rectangles.

Joey: We play the triangle instrument in music class!

Michael: Construction signs are triangles.

Billy: Picture frames come in all different shapes! Some are rectangles, squares, or even circles!

Aly: The top of my house is a triangle!

Miss Saraceni: Very good class! You have come up with a very good list of objects that are different shapes! Class, can you now all tell me where we can find different shapes?

Class: EVERYWHERE!

Miss Saraceni: Excellent, now you all know that shapes are not just found on paper, they surround us all the time!
