LS series restricted profiles

Standard camera ABUS Pixim WDR Camera

While there are other inline restricted proles in the market place, the LS Series remains one of the most comprehensive and competitive.

With the release of LSGP2, LSGP3 and LSGPM to compliment LSGP1, there is now a family of products available, allowing for more advanced master key systems.

Design registration provides protection until September 2019, and importantly there is a full range of restricted plugs available to suit just about every application.

The M prole is available in a key blank, not a broached barrel, as we have designed the new proles in such a way to allow members to use GP1 as a maison plug. The following table illustrates this:

For members wanting to build a new multi broach system, then they should use LSGP2 and LGP3, and use the LSGPM key for their master key or grand master key.

For members wanting a single prole system, then any of the three proles can be selected.

If members wish to extend an existing GP1 system and include LSGP2 and LSGP3

barrels, then they need to be aware that the GP2 and GP3 keys will enter

the existing GP1 barrel and allow for this when coding the system.

LSC . SILCA

Silca Technology leadsonce again

LSC and Silca are pleased to announce the latest update for RW4 & RW4Plus machines which enhances the functionality of the popular MH head. The MH system now allows the keys to be "frequency tuned".

A result of the development of the Multi-Head is the need for it to work with both Philips and Texas systems both of which are miles apart in terms of frequency, power harvesting, response time and so on. The update now allows the MH to work on Philips CDP style systems, and resolves issues some customers reported with certain Honda & Mitsubishi vehicles. Ask LSC's Technical Support Unit for assistance, or contact your account manager today.

Relax, it’s Silca

Did you know all Silca mechanical & electronic key machines come with a two year factory guarantee? You can now relax with the extra piece of mind you get with the 2 year factory guarantee. We proudly repair all Silca machinery in house, and our TSU team is factory trained ensuring we'll be there to help you, if you ever need it.

With our stock holding of spare parts & accessories of 640 lines, we've got all the common spare parts for every Silca machine we sell in stock.

Don't risk your reputation or investment - choose Silca and breathe easily.

The new Matrix Pro and Matrix Evo

New and FREE rmware is available now which will allow you to set MH heads to either a "low" or "high" frequency response (over and above the generic setting which works on 95% of vehicles). The new RW4 rmware, combined with the latest MH heads (Version 1.17 and higher) give you this functionality for FREE.

Building on the success that made the Matrix the most successful machine ever built by Silca, the brand new Matrix EVO & PRO take laser and dimple key duplication to a new level of ease, safety and precision.

Look out for your copy of issue 6 of the LSCNZ Newsletter for a full feature on the the new Matrix machines from Silca.

STI . FEATURE

STI products help prevent false fire alarms as well as vandalism, theft, accidental damage and misuse of devices and equipment we all depend on

PROTECTING THE THINGS THAT PROTECT YOU

Perfect for locksmithsAn extensive range of protective covers & cages

Who are STI?

STI are a family owned and operated business that began over thirty years ago with Jack Taylor's invention of the Stopper Pull Station Protector. Safety Technology International now manufactures more than 50 unique products to prevent false alarms and the theft and vandalism of the things that protect us all such as smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. STI’s first product came directly at the request of a customer, Garnett Hegeman, a high school principal in Detroit, Michigan who had a problem with false fire alarms. Most of STI’s new products throughout the years are a direct result of requests like these.

For years people have been spending a lot of time and money custom making weather proof covers and wire protective cages for smoke detectors, PIR’s, keypads, CCTV cameras and other essential security/safety equipment. Now with the STI range of products, these once time consuming and expensive covers and cages are available off the shelf at a price that will surely amaze.

The STI range of products provides the ideal solution for any premises whether it is a small or large commercial building, government offices, health care or educational facilities. The simple and easy to install range can be included as part of a total security upgrade package or sold over the counter as simple DIY systems for maintenance contractors and building managers.

Automotivesolutions

It is easy to rush out and dive into the car’s computer, but a little bit of research can save a lot of time.

As we know, all cars are different. New Zealand is a prime example of this, as unlike many other countries we have all sorts of “grey imports”. Even though Bob’s Toyota Corolla and John’s Toyota Corolla may look the same and both are imports from Japan, Bob’s has been built for the USA market, and John’s for the Australian! Therefore the computers they use can be completely different.

www.carjam.co.nz is an excellent website to quickly nd information about the vehicle in question, from VIN numbers and engine types, to country of origin.

As an owner of an MVP or AD100, you have access to the Advanced Diagnostics technical forum. This has a wealth of helpful information from lockies all around the world and even the guys at AD themselves.

Researching the vehicle is paramount

We keep the 5 most popular types, and these cover every popular model including the Generation 4, 5 and 6 Golf, the Transporter, the Caddy, the Passat and the Polo. We also keep a BDS "ip" blade in HU66 prole, and you add the remote, plus the appropriate transponder chip to the ip to make up a complete key. With dealers quoting over $500 for the complete kit (remote + ip + chip), LSC can supply you with all the parts for less than a third of this price, giving you room to add a service call, key cutting and programming charge and be cheaper than the dealer while making excellent margin. Check out www.lscnz.co.nz for the full application guide on each of the remotes we offer.

Silca have launched a special insert you can use with the MH keys allowing carbon or glass transponders to be used. With many customers loving the range, and the quality and consistency of Silca blanks, but wanting to use their own transponder chips (with RW4, AD900, ZedBull, JMA or other machines) Silca have launched the MHTA insert. The insert allows carbon (eg: T5), small glass (eg: 48's) or large glass (T7/TPX) size chips to be used. Comprising of the top half of the key, plus a blue coloured rubber insert which innovatively allows you to orientate the chip towards the vehicle antenna, the MHTA is an inexpensive way of maximising your transponder jobs while keeping your stock lean with the MH blade selection - which is second to none for the New Zealand market.

LSC . CASE STUDY

Brisbane Markets pick a fresh profile

The Brisbane Markets in Queensland Australia occupy 77 hectares of land 11km South West of the Brisbane CBD in Rocklea. The Brisbane Markets site houses 53 wholesale companies, up to 3500 people work or do business on site on a daily basis, and in excess of 7000 growers supply produce for sale.

The Brisbane Markets is not only critical for Brisbane and QLD but also plays a key role in the supply of fruit and vegetables to the rest of Australia. Queensland grows a substantial amount of produce and the Brisbane Markets are the gateway to the rest of the country.

The 2011 oods caused most of the 77 hectares to be submerged in ood waters as the nearby creek broke its bank very early. Once the rain stopped and the oodwaters started to recede, it was 3 days before the markets were in operation once again. The ooding did however create some infrastructure problems.

The Management of the Brisbane markets put out tenders to several local locksmith companies to provide a new and comprehensive locking and security system to re-secure the 77 hectare site.

Newtech Locksmiths of Moorooka won this tender using the ABUS 14 locking system as its preferred system for this particular site.

ABUS 14 was able to offer the Brisbane Markets an excellent locking system through its multiple and exclusive proles, not to mention ABUS 14’s excellent master keying capabilities. The system was designed and built by Newtech Locksmiths Head Locksmith Kris Andresen.

Stage one of the Brisbane Markets new locking system is now complete and stage two another 37 hectares to be completed by the end of 2012.

Thanks to the Brisbane Markets and Newtech Locksmiths who were happy to share this ABUS 14 success story.

Delivering one of the most intensely complex master key systems known with all project milestones ahead of schedule and within budget to 177 individual tenants on a 77 hectare large commercial site is a remarkable feat.

The quality of the ABUS 14 locking system is simply impeccable with over several thousand locks and keys now in circulation for nearly 12 months. This new sophisticated locking systemhas definitely delivered a comprehensive security solution for the entire site, it is reliable and it definitely works.

ABUS Combination Padlocks

For some unaccountable reason, many customers have difculty in setting a new combination on a re-settable ABUS combination padlock, which often results in the retailer sending them back to us as faulty product. They are very, very rarely faulty. We suspect that the main reason for this problem is failure to adhere to the instructions, or even failure to read them in the rst place. If the instructions are not followed correctly, then the result will be a locked out padlock. The padlock then has to be returned to us where we can usually decode it and re-set to factory default. Sometimes, even we can’t decode it and the padlock is basically a write-off.

There are two types of re-set mechanisms on ABUS combination padlocks:- shackle stem re-set and key-type re-set. In all cases, padlocks are set to a factory default code of 0. Three zeros for three wheel combinations and four zeros for four wheel combinations.

With a shackle stem re-set, the padlock should be set to 000/0000 and opened. The shackle should then be rotated until

It is always best to oer to set the combination for the customer before they leave. This will avoid problems with incorrect code setting.

the lug on the base lines up with the slot in the padlock body, which is 90 or 180 degrees from the closed position. The shackle should then be pressed hard into this slot and held tightly in position whilst the new code number is selected. The shackle can then and only then, be released and returned to its original open/close position. The shackle can now be pushed down to the locked position and the combination wheels scrambled. The padlock is now locked and the new number can be entered to unlock the padlock.

With key-type re-set, the same 000/0000 default code applies. Open the padlock, insert the change key, press in against the spring and rotate the key 90 degrees to the right. Set the new code; turn the change key back to the upright position and remove. Close the shackle and scramble the combination wheels. Re-dial the new combination, depress the shackle and the padlock will unlock.

It is always best to offer to set the combination for the customer before they leave. This will avoid problems with incorrect code setting.

LSC’s Pat Quinn explains the resetting process for ABUS combination padlocks.

ABUS netball team

LSCNZ have recently sponsored a Netball team who are competing in First Grade at Netball North Harbour on Saturday mornings. The team are proudly sporting the ABUS name on their brand new uniforms. Our very own Liz Lees (pictured right) plays in this team, as a versatile mid court/defender and it is not unknown for her to turn up on the odd Monday morning sporting a black eye or sprained ankle.

Recently promoted to the First grade, after winning the rst round of competition, the team are looking forward to a tough second round. With a combination of experienced “old heads” and new “young legs” the team hopes to win the grade.

The team are competing every Saturday for the rest of the winter season, so feel free to pop down to Netball North Harbour and support our girls.

Pictured from left to right are Nicola, Jess, Linda, Marie, Donna, Toni, Shirl and Liz. Absent on the day were Alva, Raewyn and Stella.

LSC . SHOWBUS

On the road withthe LSC Showbus

The Showbus heads up to Northland

At the end of July the LSC Showbus started its tour of the North Island. Leaving home base, rst stop was Whangarei where the folk at Whangarei Mobile Locksmiths were given the opportunity to spend time viewing all the latest Silca Electronic machines and familiarise themselves with a range of new products.

Next stop was the lovely Tutukaka, world renowned for Big Game shing, notably Blue Marlin. This gave the boys the chance to check out the shing club to see if they needed any new ABUS padlocks.

Then cutting across country to the wacky town of Kawakawa, where steam trains still run up the main street, and the public toilets are world famous in New Zealand – the Hundertwasser Toilets. Convenience and beauty at the same time. Lucky Bruce at Bay Lock n Alarm, gets to use these on a regular basis.

Heading further north, the next stop is Kerikeri, where the old stone store resides. New Zealand’s oldest stone building, (built in 1835 – only just older than our Pat Quinn) but a bit before ABUS padlocks were around. It would be great to see new and improved security features on one of our important historic places.

www.lscnz.co.nz

Next stop Kaitaia – situated at the southern-most end of world famous 90 mile beach - we are still trying to think what Kaitaia is famous for. After a short rest to restock and refuel the show bus will be heading to Tauranga, Rotorua and Taupo. Look out for it in a town near you soon.
