Every day I got out of bed and looked forward to it. It helped me establish my own identity, and was also the place where I formed some amazing bonds with some amazing people.” Stevie describes himself as a diligent, hard-working, humorous and resilient person. He has a great passion and talent for sport where he has excelled, particularly in soccer and futsal, having reached representative status for the latter. BENJAMIN (BEN) SMAGARINSKY HUMBLE MENSCH Year entered Emanuel: 2010 “I’d like to be remembered for being a hard worker and someone who was willing to contribute.” There are a number of words that come to mind when thinking of Ben – honest, industrious, community-minded, academically diligent and thoughtful are but a few. Ben is an insightful student who has been described by his teachers as “delightful” and “dignified” – both attributes that would make any parent proud! He believes that Emanuel has prepared him well for life outside of school, teaching him “values such as working hard and helping those around you”. CELEBRATING OUR GRADUATESSERENA MAY – COMMUNICATIONS MADRICHA ATAR: 99.6 GIFTED LINGUIST 8th in the State in History Extension Year entered Emanuel: 2005 Dux of the School 49/50 in English Extension 2 “The School’s motto, ‘where the individual excels’, are not empty words; the School has in every way helped me to become a well-rounded student, who engages with the wider community and thinks critically about the world in which we live.”

Serena is a quietly confident student and leader, who excels academically. She is an all-round achiever but has a particular talent as a student of the French language. She gained Band 6 results in the accelerated HSC French Continuers examination in 2010 while in Year 10, and in French Extension in Year 11, gained an E4 Band result. Serena has been on the Principal’s List for Outstanding Academic Achievement for many years and received eight school Awards for her 2013 academic achievements, including Dux of the School.

SAM WRUBLEWSKI – HEAD MADRICH ATAR: 98.6CHARISMATIC LEADER 13th in the State in BusinessYear entered Emanuel: 1999 Studies “Emanuel represents a home away from home, a place where I could learn, excel and really enjoy my school life. I am truly blessed to have been able to attend Emanuel.”

Sam is a caring, compassionate individual, who has been a student at Emanuel since 1999, when he attended the then newly-established Kornmehl Centre Emanuel Pre-school. Sam has excelled in the academic, sporting and leadership areas. He represented the School at the

State finals for futsal and holds the enviable position of being the athletics age champion from Year 3 until Year 12.

ALEXANDRA (LEXI) WOLF – HEAD MADRICHA ATAR: 96.55EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT LEADER Year entered Emanuel: 2001

“Emanuel has taught me not to merely accept the ‘norm’, but rather to question and critically analyse the facets of my world.”

Lexi describes herself as a “leader with quiet confidence”, which has been evidenced by her humility and willingness to make a difference to the lives of others both at school and in the wider community. Lexi touched the lives of many people when she spearheaded the Paper Cranes Project at School in aid of the charity Cure for Life. Under Lexi’s guidance, the students created 1,000 origami paper cranes, which represent ‘longevity’ and raised over $1,000 for the charity.

JOSEPH (JOE) HARRIS – EDUCATION AND IT MADRICH ATAR: 98.75COURAGEOUS LEADER Year entered Emanuel: 2009

“Too often you feel that you must shield your full potential in order to fit in, but at Emanuel it is recognised and celebrated that sometimes the best shapes don’t tessellate.”

Joe has left an indelible mark on the School. Showing great leadership, he embarked on implementing a new student Merit System for 2014. This project involved significant negotiation, creative thought and perseverance. The system is being trialed at present and will be fully implemented in the High School in 2014.
