• Some Hyundai vehicles equipped with MDPS steering assist may exhibit a mild steering drift under normal driving conditions.

• If the vehicle exhibits this condition, remove the MDPS fuse to eliminate the steering assist and to diagnose this condition. The MDPS fuse is located in the Engine Room Junction Box.

Note: This procedure may set DTCs in the EPS and ESC systems. These codes must be cleared before other operations are performed.

• If the condition is no longer present, the Absolute Steering Position (ASP) Calibration must be performed.

• If the Vehicle continues to drift in either direction, refer to TSB 08-SS-004.

If ASP is not calibrated after a component is replaced with aUSED part.• Motor assist will be available and the

warning lamp will not blink and active return will not operate.

If ASP calibration is performed incorrectly.• The vehicle may set code C1259, but the

warning lamp will not illuminate. Motorassist will be available but active returnwill not operate.

The Absolute Steering Position (ASP) must be Recalibrated whenever:• A Wheel Alignment is Performed• The MDPS is replaced• The MDPS Control module is replaced

If ASP is not calibrated after a component is replaced with a NEW part• Motor assist will be available, but the

warning lamp will blink and active returnwill not occur.
