I   work  mainly  with   steel;   enjoying   the   challenge   of  making   the   industrial  material   appear   fluid,  aesthe-c  and  malleable.   I  use  wire,  rod,  pipe  and  reinforcement  bar  so  my  pieces  have  different  textures  and  thicknesses.  In  the  past  I  have  used  both  mild  steel  and  stainless  steel,  crea-ng  pieces  that  are  industrially  powder-‐coated,  naturally  rusted  or  have  elements  of  polished  stainless  steel,  crea-ng  a  contact  in  material  and  appearance.    My   work   is   inspired   by  my   travels   around   the   globe;   my   experience   of   different   countries   and  cultures   as   well   as   an   exchange   year   I   spent   studying   at   the   Australian   Na-onal   University   in  Canberra.   I  draw  on  emo-ons   that  are   felt  when   travelling;   feelings  of  discovery,  adventure  and  op-mism.  My  work  is  privately  collected  through  the  UK  and  the  US.

I  am  an  emerging  sculptor  based  in  London,  who  has  recently  completed  an  MA  at  Kingston  University  where  I  studied  European  Arts  Prac-ce.  Last  year  I  was  approached  by  NatSteel  in  Singapore  and  ask  to  put  together  an  artwork  proposal  for  their  50th  Anniversary,  since  then  we  have  been  developing  the  project.    Although   only   26   years   of   age   I   have   exhibited   widely   throughout   the   UK  since   gradua-ng   from   the   Undergraduate   degree   in   July   2010,   including  exhibi-ons  alongside  pres-gious  ar-sts  like  Helaine  Blumenfeld  and  the  late  Lynne  Chadwick.

3.  MiDal  |  Staff  &  Community

©  MTB  ART  Ltd.  2014

MiKal   Corp   Ltd.   is   clearly   an   ambi-ous   company   that’s   quickly   expanding   and   exceeding   in   its  field.  This  progress  and  success  has  been  recognised  in  recent  years,  through  awards  as  well  as  an  increase  in  the  market  share.    MiKal   Corp   Ltd.   is   currently   developing   their   Corporate   Social   Responsibility   sec-on   of   their  website  but  what  beKer  way  to  embrace  responsibility  for  the  company's  ac-ons  and  encourage  a  posi-ve  impact  through  running  crea-ve  workshops?    •  The  local  community  of  Indore  Schools,  nursing  homes,  hospitals,  prisons.    •  MiDal  Staff  A  selec-on  of  staff  from  different  department  and  levels  at  MiKal  Corp.    The  workshops  are  designed  to  inspire  and  encourage  crea-vity  within  the  local  community  and  staff;  they  are  hands-‐on  and  allow  those  who  par-cipate  to  feel  engaged  with  the  art  project.    Community  workshops  can  also  be  an  effec-ve  way  to  generate  exposure  for  MiKal   in  the   local  community  and  lead  to  posi-ve  press  both  locally  and  interna-onally.

4.  Workshop  &  Site  Visit

©  MTB  ART  Ltd.  2014

Workshops    I  charge  a  day-‐rate  of  £800  to  run  a  workshop  (including  any  full  days  of  travel).  I  can  organise  any  necessary  travel/accommoda-on  but  I  do  expect  expenses  and  charges  to  be  paid  in  full  prior  to  the  workshop  taking  place.  Any  materials  used  within  the  workshops  are  included  within  the  fee.

Site  Visit    Site  visits  are  recommended  when  crea-ng  a  site-‐specific  sculpture  (i.e.  outdoor  work).  I  charge  a  day-‐rate  of  £500  for  a  site  visit  (including  any  full  days  of  travel).  Again  I  expect  all  expenses  and  charges  to  be  covered  and  paid  prior  to  the  site  visit  taking  place.

5.  Timescale

The  -ming  of  the  project  really  depends  on  what  op-ons  MiKal  decide  to  go  with,  the  scale  of  the  project   (number   of   pieces)   and   whether   they   are   all   interior   works   or   if   MiKal   would   like   an  external  stand  alone  focal  point  at  the  front  of  their  office.        An   outdoor   site-‐specific   commissioned   sculpture   would   normally   take   me   2   months   to   create  (depending  on  scale  and  complexity  of  design).   I  would  expect  50%  payment  upfront  and  would  suggest  a  site  visit  prior  to  any  work  taking  place.    Mul-ple   pieces   both   internal   and   external,   small   sculptures,   wall   mounted   works   and   large  outdoor  works  would  take  considerably  longer  but  a  schedule  can  be  drawn  up.      All  ini-al  ideas  have  been  leo  flexible  and  vague  to  allow  MiKal  to  have  as  much  or  as  liKle  input  on  the  design  of  their  sculpture(s)  and  photographs  as  they  would  like.  I  have  iden-fied  a  number  of  loca-ons  where  artwork  could  go  using  the  images  on  MiKal’s  website.  The  presenta-on  is  to  give  an  indica-on  of  what  could  be  done  should  MiKal  want  to  proceed  and  develop  the  project  further.

6.  What  next?

©  MTB  ART  Ltd.  2014

Things  to  consider  at  this  stage:    •  Do  you  want  to  run  workshops  with  MiKal  staff  and/or  the  community?  If  so,  this  will  be  a  star-ng  point  for  ideas  and  a  trip  to  India  will  have  to  be  organised.    •  Where  do  you  want  the  work?    External  work;  do  you  want  a  large  external  sculpture  to  greet  staff  and  visitors  to  the  corporate  office?    Internal  work;  are  you  interested  in  having  sculptures  in  recep-on  to  greet  staff  and  visitors?  Do  you  want  small  sculptures  in  the  mee-ng  rooms  /  Boardroom(s)?  Would  you  like  photography  of  steel  on  the  walls  of  your  offices,  mee-ng  rooms  and  Boardrooms?    •  Do  you  have  a  budget?  This  may  dictate  where   you  have   the   artwork   (just   primary   loca-ons).   Perhaps   you   can  do   the  project  in  two  phases:  Phase  One:  outdoor  sculpture  and  recep-on  Phase  Two:  mee-ng  room  and  Boardroom  artwork    •  When  do  you  want  the  artwork  completed  and  installed  by?
