The resource material you are reading is prepared to facilitate the successful implementation of Early Education Development Program me (EEDP) in DAV Schools across the country. The objectives envisaged are to enable the teachers to

a) gain knowledge of contents of checklist comprising curriculum areas, concepts and skills thereof, which need to be developed in children and assessed on a regular basis.

b) know the purpose of designing checklist which is an integral tool of continuous and comprehensive evaluation.

c) learn that the statements under each area are behavioral objectives (milestones). For instance, first behavioral objective of Language Skills reads as each child ‘ Listens attentively in the class to teacher and other children in a group situation.

d) devlop understanding of appropriate methodology that caters to all the curriculum areas keeping in mind individual needs and style of each child. Games and activities to achieve above mentioned behavioral objectives are warm ups, roll call, Listen and Act, Stories, Songs and Rhymes, Commands and Instructions, Games, Who is at the Door? Introduction in Pair; Let us Concentrate and Role Play.

Home work: Tell children listen attentively to the parents, siblings, other members and visitors at home. Encourage them to talk about the stories, rhymes and activities done in the class. On-going Assessment: Observe children’s responses and participation in all the activities over a period of one month and keep noting down observations briefly in a diary. Then analyze your observations as how many children always listened attentively to teacher and their friends in different activities. Tick (√ )in the checklist against their names. Put dot in the boxes of the students who were not so attentive. Give them more time, attention and opportunities. Observe their performance for another month and analyze. Tick (√) assessment along with dot if they did well in second time. If not, give more time and opportunities. In case any child is not picking up in any one of the learning point until the end of term put X and help him learn in next term. Please ensure that by the end of the term in August each child achieves the goals in Always, Usually or Sometimes categories.
