HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC CHURCH WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

.

From the Desk of Fr. Kaim

Congratulations To Our Brand New Priest!! Alongside his parents and our fellow parishioners, Mark and Debbie, we should all feel like proud mothers and fathers as we celebrate the ordination of Fr. Jack Reichardt this past Saturday! Many of you have known him for years, even been in the youth group with him or in school at Holy Family or at Boylan. All of you have helped form and shape him into the priest he was ordained to be. And so we should all step back and take some pride in what has been accomplished, through the grace of God, in Fr. Reichardt. We will be having him back for a Mass of Thanksgiving this Sunday at the 11:00 AM Mass. Of course, we are limited to only 77 people, but for the rest of you that cannot make that Mass, he will offer priestly blessings outside the gym—rain or shine! So be sure to come out at Noonish to get your blessing and wish him well. His first assignment is St. Patrick Parish in St. Charles, IL., If you wish to send him a card, you can do so at their address which is: 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles, IL 60175.

One of the more insightful and contemporary books I read on the priesthood was by Bishop David Ricken of Green Bay, Wisconsin. He said in his book, Be Thou My Vision: “We do not elicit vocations to the priesthood by appeals to service to the common good or works of justice and charity. The attraction to the priesthood is, first of all, an attraction for God and for intimacy with Him. Some men may first be attracted to priesthood to “serve” but only those who allow Christ to heal, love, and inhabit them will ever be what Christ fully intended in their call: bridegrooms living to sacrifice their lives for the spiritual welfare of the Church out of a deep and continual receiving of divine love in and through the Eucharist. From this glowing center, the works of priesthood proceed.” I have no doubt that Fr. Jack Reichardt will live in the way Bishop Ricken suggests. His prayerful spirit is evident when you talk to him or see him on the altar at Mass. He will be a great blessing to the people of the Rockford diocese wherever he serves. Now that we send him off to serve our people, let’s be sure to step up our prayers for the next future priest of this parish. We have had a long history of ordaining men to the priesthood and there’s no reason to believe it will stop with him. Be sure to add vocations into your rosary intentions if you have not done so already. Let’s utilize the glow of this ordination be the spark to ignite even more vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, Fr. Kaim, S.T.L.

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever, and the bread that I will give, is My flesh, for the life of the world.” John 6:51

Parents refused abortion and got a miracle - Nancy Flanders, www.liveaction.org, “The McKinneys were told their baby boy had a fluid sac on the back of his neck (cystic hygroma-CH) and the doctor predicted he would be stillborn. They were immediately offered an abortion, but refused. At 18 weeks, they were told the CH was so large that their baby boy would not survive. He could have any number of trisomies or one of his organs may not develop properly. Once again, abortion was offered. The doctor left and a nurse came to draw blood. She said, ‘just have faith. Nothing is too big for God.’ Throughout the rest of her pregnancy, she never saw that nurse again and calls her ‘my angel that day.’ At her 26-week appointment, the sonogram technician did not measure the CH as usual because, the doctor said, ‘there was nothing there to measure.’ It was gone. Safely born in 2018, he shocked the doctors who ran every test they could. Each came back negative. Abortion is heavily promoted for babies who have received a prenatal diagnosis of any disability.” (https://tinyurl.com/yavm4esj) U.S. Blocks United Nations Agreement Over Abortion - Austin Ruse, www.c-fam.org, “The U.S. Mission to the United Nations has rejected a UN agreement on humanitarian assistance for emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic, that would have promoted abortion. ‘We emphasize that health care should focus on health promotion and prevention, consistent with our national legislation and policies,’ the US statement reads. We thank the Trump administration for taking this strong stance in favor of true humanitarian assistance and in favor of the unborn child.” (https://tinyurl.com/yaopvfvo) ‘Miracle’ micro-preemie born at 22 weeks discharged from the hospital - Nancy Flanders, www.liveaction.org, “Born at 22 weeks gestation, weighing just 15 ounces, baby Giselle, after five months in the hospital, went home, weighing seven pounds. Though abortion is legal for any reason in the United States at 22 weeks gestation and beyond, babies at 22 weeks have a chance of surviving if active medical care is provided.” (https://tinyurl.com/y8bj6569)

Seminarian Bailey continues his four-part series, The Heart of a

Young Seminarian! Bailey has been sharing the things that are on his heart as a young Rockford Seminarian and discussing why these things might be more important now more than ever

before. These talks are every other Monday (June 15, June 29, July 13) from 6:30-7:00 PM, and Bailey will field any questions about

the talk from 7:00-7:15 PM.

Seminarian Bailey also continues to lead an eight-part series called Hearts Turned to Heaven, where he discusses

how we can turn our hearts to things above, with a little help from C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch, and The

Wardrobe! Each Thursday, (June 18, June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, and July 23), from 6:30-7:00 PM, Bailey will discuss

a chapter or two of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and how the movements of the heart that arise

while reading can lead us to a deeper relationship with God the Father. Like The Heart of a Young Seminarian, Bailey will be fielding questions on the discussion from

7:00-7:15 PM.
