The scene was Friday night in front of the grandstand at the Sher- man County fairgrounds for the Colorado Tractor Pullers Asso- ciation tractor pull featuring 31 different drivers and modified tractors and trucks. A pull of 300 feet is considered a full pull, and Bill Schwarz of Oakley had the full pull of the night in his modified 4x4 Junk Yard Dog. In the small block tractors Roy Peters of Bridgeport, Neb., won for the second year in Gator with a pull of 288.13 feet. Second went to Jerry Bauman of Goodland in Farmina- tor with a pull of 286.53. Third was Ross Townsend of Goodland in General T with a pull of 284.88. Ken Dunagan was fourth in Color Me Gone with a pull of 270.95. Fifth was Jeff Wiges of Ft. Morgan, Colo. in Red Neck Binder who had a me- chanical problem after 143.58 and had to be pulled off the course. In the pro stock 4x4 trucks Chris Hayward in Frostbite with a pull of 222.53. Kenny Wilson of Man- zanola, Colo., in Incognito was last year’s winner, but this year his truck had a mechanical failure after 49.34 feet and had to be towed away. In the big block tractors Floyd Goodro in Corn Vette was the winner by about 10 feet (278.73) over Candi Meissinger of Goodland in Plum Nasty who had a pull of 268.66. In the naturally aspirated mini rod Mike Smeal took both first and second with Plow Jockey getting first with a pull of 292.76, and Ground Pounder second with a pull of 290.17. Mark Huenink was third in Just 4 Fun at 276.15. Arvin Huenink was fourth in Wild Fire at 268.47. Tammie Huenink was fifth in White Lightning at 254.70. Lorna Warta was sixth in Dirty Little Secret at 250.37. James Warta of Bertrand, Neb., last year’s winner was sev- enth in Nightmare with a pull of 247.24. Carol Dunagan was eighth in Shazam at 208.93. In the modified 4x4 Bill Schwarz of Oakley repeated as the winner in Junk Yard Dog with the only full pull of the night. Top cowboy for the night was Josh Koschel who had an 85 in the long go and the high score for the night with an 89 in the short go to be the overall winner. For his efforts Koschel had 169.5 points and $5,545 for the night. Ko- schel was the only cowboy to get a full ride in the short go/ In second was Alfonso Orozco who was first place in the long go with a score of 85. He got $5,545 for the night. Third went to Ryan McConnel who had 84.5 in the short go to be second and third overall to win $3,565. Fourth place money went to Justin Koon who was third in the short go with a score for 84. He got $2,377. Fifth place went to Jeston Mead who was fourth in the long go with a score of 83. He received $1,347 for the night. Sixth went to Kenny Hickman who was fifth in the long go with a score of 81.5. For the night Hickman got $664. Seventh was Josh Call with a long go score of 80.5 and for the night he got $475. The final two cowboys tied in the long go with scores of 79 each and Dillon Tyner and Markus Mariluch each got $158 for their rides. This is the fourth year for the PBR to be in Goodland, and it was a packed house to watch the bull riders and the antics of Pumpkin Town Clown. Helping keep the cowboys safe in the arena was Goodland’s own Tracy Weeter with the help of Dave Young. Top Professional Bull Riders split Chute-Out prize money

Wednesday night the bulls kept many of the Professional Bull Riders from grabbing all the prize money for making it to the eight second horn at the Western Plains Chute-Out.

Top cowboy for the night was Josh Koschel who had an 85 in the long go and the high score for the night with an 89 in the short go to be the overall winner.

For his efforts Koschel had 169.5 points and $5,545 for the night. Ko-schel was the only cowboy to get a full ride in the short go/

In second was Alfonso Orozco who was first place in the long go with a score of 85. He got $5,545 for the night.

Third went to Ryan McConnel who had 84.5 in the short go to be second and third overall to win $3,565.
