Prayer for the New School Year
God of wisdom and might, we praise you for the wonder of our being,
for mind, body and spirit. Be with our children as they begin
a new school year. Bless them and their teachers and staff.
Give the strength and grace as their bodies grow; wisdom and knowledge to their minds
as they search for understanding; and peace and zeal to their hearts.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.

REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH BY THE ARCHDIOCESE
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles mandates all staff, whether paid or volunteer, and all volunteers who work in any capacity with or around
children, the elderly, or people with special needs are required to com-plete the initial three-hour VIRTUS® Protecting God's Children for
Adults program. This education component helps prevent child sexual abuse by first making every adult employee and volunteer aware of the issues surrounding child sexual abuse. This includes awareness of the many ways sexual abuse harms its victims, their families, the parish,
and the community. The awareness session also helps adults learn to recognize the warning signs of abuse and shows them the appropriate way to respond to suspicious behavior. Finally, the awareness session
empowers each person with five steps to help prevent child sexual abuse.
FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENTS
All clergy, paid parish/school personnel and volunteers who work regularly in a supervisory role with children or youth must

This is from an oral history, not confirmed and no written record
can be found; but a long parish story, as related by Sister Patricia Ann Thompson C.S.C. (who had the unofficial title of
“first girl altar server”; she always was at Mass early and would prepare things for Bill Olivas before mass when he was Altar
Server). She was not born at the time of the 1917 fire, however:
The story goes,that Margaret Clark Hunt rushed into the church and saved the Blessed Sacrament just before the building was
consumed with flames. Has anyone else heard this story?

título no oficial de "primer servidor del altar de la muchacha", ella estaba siempre en la masa temprana y prepararía las cosas para Bill
Olivas antes de masa cuando él era servidor del altar). Sin embargo, no nació en el momento del incendio de 1917:
La historia va, que Margaret Clark Hunt se precipitó en la iglesia y salvó al Santísimo Sacramento justo antes de que el edificio fuera
