Did you know that demographic studies estimate that more than 1/3 of all Catholics are not registered in a parish? Please encourage your friends and family to register.
Registering is important because: If a parish doesn’t know who is out there, how can it adequately serve the needs of all - especially singles, divorced or young families who may not see the need to register?
Registered parishioners receive helpful information about the parish.
Established membership in the parish is needed to obtain Baptism/Confirmation sponsor form. Registering is easy. Registration forms are available in the parish office, the narthex and on the parish website.
WELCOME TO OUR CHURCH FAMILY

SCHEDULING OF MASS INTENTIONS There are many Mass Intentions still available for the remainder of 2020. We are also accepting Mass Intentions for 2021 at this time.
Thank You.
Please patronize our advertisers and thank them for their generous support of the parish.
Change of Date for Peter’s Pence Collection in 2020
In light of the ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the USCCB Committee on National Collections has requested that the date of this year’s Peter’s Pence Collection for the works of the Holy Father be conducted on the weekend of October 3-4, 2020 instead of the originally scheduled weekend of June 27-28.
Parishioners are encouraged to save their Peter's Pence Envelopes until October.
The St. Scholastica Knights of Columbus hope that all Parishioners are safe and doing well during these trying times. The months of May and June are when the Knights and the Parish Culture of Life Ministry conduct their Baby Bottle Drive to help support the Pregnancy and Family Life Center of Citrus County. During this Pandemic, the Pregnan-cy and Family Life Center has continued to provide food, clothing and diapers, in addi-tion to other services, to needy families in our County. Many supplies have to be deliv-ered to individuals who are unable to afford travel, or access to travel. The needs are even greater now due to the loss of employment, caused by the Pandemic. Since it will be impossible to distribute Baby Bottles to Parishioners and collect them this year, the Knights are asking all Parishioners and brother Knights to please help the Pregnancy and Family Life Center by sending their contributions in by mail. Remember the Center exists solely on donations and grants.
Please take a minute and mail your contribution to:
St. Scholastica Council, No. 14485
P.O. Box 267
Lecanto, FL 34461
Please make checks payable to K of C Council 14485 and write on memo line Baby Bottle Drive. Thank you for your continued support of this most worthy and needed endeavor.

Live Courageously
Fear and trepidation are natural emotions for all of us. Some have a fear of public speaking. All of us at some level may even experience a fear of death. Fear of the unknown is another big one. For me, it’s fear of heights. Kind of ironic for someone who is 6’8”!
In this weekend’s gospel from Saint Matthew, we find Jesus exhorting the twelve: “Fear no one.” Jesus was presenting a new way of thinking to the Jews and His followers and some of it was contradictory to traditional ways of thinking. He must have sensed that His disciples might be fearful of sharing these teachings. Yet, He goes on to tell them to proclaim to the housetops, to not whisper in secret, but to speak openly. This had to make some of them a bit fearful and uncomfortable. But isn’t that what Satan wants? Out of fear we keep quiet. We keep silent.
The opposite of fear is courage. Courage enables us to overcome our fears. It compels us to do that which we normally would feel uncomfortable doing. We must have the courage to proclaim the truth, to proclaim justice, to spread joy, to foster peace. Jesus is truth and peace; therefore, we are called to proclaim Him to all who might hear.
Courage doesn’t always just come; it sometimes has to grow and that comes with understanding. The disciples and martyrs didn’t just give their lives, but did so willingly, trusting in God and knowing of the eternal reward that was to come. They faced their persecutors with courage and conviction. Do we have that same courage in our daily walk? Our vision in the Diocese of St Petersburg is to Courageously Live the Gospel. It is our mission as Catholics, and it is our call from Jesus. Fear no one, but instead live courageously!
- Bishop Gregory Parkes

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS June 21, 2020 - 12th Sunday of Ordinary Time
“Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.” (Matthew 10:32)
Would others know that you are Catholic by the way you act and speak? Do you share your Catholic faith with others? Do you defend your Catholic faith when the situation arises or do you remain silent? Do you pray in public before meals? Pray for the strength and courage to be a joyful witness of our Catholic faith when the opportunity presents itself. Let us become the radiant light and bold witness that we are called to be!

Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time June 21, 2020
Sing to the L , praise the L , for he has rescued the life of the poor.
— Jeremiah 20:13
From Robert Bolt’s classic A Man for All Seasons to Showtime’s edgy The Tudors, Thomas More endears himself still: lawyer-statesman of impeccable integrity, remarried widower and affectionate father delighting in a lively household—four children, a pet monkey, even a paid jester! And challenges still: humanist-reformer, yet champion of Catholic faith and papal primacy. John Paul II named him Patron of Statesmen and Politicians, citing More’s generous work, both as a lawyer and in government service, on behalf of the poorest and most marginalized people of his time, as well as his promotion of education for all sectors of society. More’s decision for principle over politics, conscience over convenience prompted his final words: “I die the king’s good servant, but God’s first.” Alone among England’s bishops, John Fisher dared challenge Henry VIII’s divorce and repudiation of the papacy. When the Pope named the imprisoned Fisher a cardinal, Henry thundered: “Don’t bother sending Fisher’s red hat here; I’ll send Fisher’s head to Rome!” Whose “good servants” are we first? Isn’t a right conscience worth the pain of standing alone? —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
ENTHUSIASM AND GRAMMAR
SAINT JOHN FISHER (1469-1535) AND SAINT THOMAS MORE (1477-1535) June 22
9
There is a good reason that the writings of St. Paul don’t show up as examples in grammar textbooks. Today’s reading is a case in point. It begins with one of those long Pauline run on sentences that leave lectors gasping for breath. So what? Take a closer look at how Paul’s fervor for his subject matter derails the grammar. There is something admirable about being so caught up in his convictions that the words cannot come fast enough to express them, much less in an orderly fashion. Scripture scholars usually take this grammatical ineptness as a sign of a passage’s early importance in the Christian community, something they were so ardent about that their language never got refined.
What leaves us in this condition? Re-telling the plot line of an action movie or the play-by-play of a sporting event? When was the last time any of us was so excited by our faith in Christ that we were left grasping for words, stumbling over our own errors in speech? It may be bad grammar, but it is an excellent way to inspire others with the message of Christ! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
