St. Philip’s ECHS Master Schedule

August 17-September 4, 2020 Remote Instruction

Introduction

St. Philip’s ECHS will continue providing rigorous, TEKS-based instruction to all students through a hybrid instructional model that intentionally blends remote asynchronous and synchronous instruction using CANVAS, the district’s learning management system (LMS). In addition, being on the St. Philip’s Campus, we follow the same safety guidelines as the college, while at the same time, accommodating our student’s college courses within our schedule, many college courses being held in a synchronous format. Definitions Synchronous Instruction – Two-way, real-time/live, instruction between teachers and students whether students are on or off campus. Synchronous instruction is provided face-to-face by the teacher physically or could be offer through a computer or other electronic device.

Asynchronous Instruction – Instruction that does not require having the instructor and student engaged at the same time. In this method, students learn from instruction that is not necessarily being delivered in-person or in real time. This type of instruction may include various forms of digital and online learning, such as prerecorded video lessons or game-based learning tasks that students complete on their own, and pre-assigned work and formative assessments made available to students on paper. Teachers are available for assistance during asynchronous instructional time and will provide students Zoom link to access for assistance.

Office Hours-Time set aside for students and parents to converse with the teacher regarding student’s progress, struggles or any parental concerns.

Small group support-tutoring

Advisory-Time set aside as our official attendance period and designed for students to receive school wide and grade level appropriate announcements and information form the administration.

Lunch and breaks-This hour block is set aside for students to eat lunch and take a “reflection break” to prepare for the afternoon block. In addition, there are 10-minute breaks between each class period.

Teacher’s Conference and Department PLN- Teachers are allotted 225 minutes per week for individual planning and preparation time. This time is designed by the teacher. Department PLN is established 45 minutes per week and the agenda is set by the department chair.
