St Marylebone SchoolAn opportunity to excel

Welcome to St Marylebone

The St Marylebone CE School is a thrivingexample of how great education can be. Ourculture of achievement is fuelled by a love oflearning, grounded in Christian values anddriven by a dynamic creativity and a joyful senseof community. Our pupils experience possibilityand opportunity every day. Our teachers areproud of their profession.

St Marylebone is a comprehensive school forgirls, with a mixed Sixth Form, serving studentsof Christian faith, all other faiths and no faith. We enjoy all the opportunities of an innerLondon setting, making the most of the city’s arts, culture, business and enterprise – yet the schoolsite itself is a haven of learning and reflection. Our traditional principles are solid foundationsfor our modern, forward-thinking outlook; thisgives our students the confidence, skills andexperiences to know that they can succeed inwhatever they choose to do – and to enjoy thejourney. This dynamic spirit and progressive, caring ethos have been recognised in oursuccessively “outstanding” Ofsted inspections.

We have high standards and expectationsbecause we believe in giving every student theopportunity to excel, to enjoy and achieve and to become highly-qualified and equipped for the exciting challenges of life. And we know thateveryone needs support in dealing with thesechallenges, which is why our pastoral care andenrichment are as important as our curriculum. Our students’ achievements make us very proud– but it is the young adults they become whichmake us proudest.

I hope you’ll enjoy and be inspired by your visit asmuch as we enjoy and are inspired by being here.

A great place to grow

St Marylebone has two sites just off MaryleboneHigh Street – a vibrant location granting us easyproximity to London’s opportunities from theatreto medicine to business to politics. The site at thetop of Marylebone High Street is behind thebeautiful St Marylebone Parish Church, wherewe hold weekly assemblies and a number ofconcerts and services every year. There has been a school here for over 200 years – hence this site’scharacterful mixture of traditional and newbuildings, housing a large library, fully-equippedscience laboratories, a modern theatre, a spacioussports hall and two beautiful dance studios, twomusic classrooms, a music technology suite and a recording studio, large and light art rooms andclassrooms for all the other specialist subjects. Atlunch and breaktimes, students can buy hot andcold food, drinks and snacks on site at The LunchBox and hot food bar.

Students move between this site and our newfour-storey, purpose-built site on BlandfordStreet, a five minute walk away. Here we havefully-equipped workshops for Design &Technology, Food Technology, Textiles, Art and a further suite of science laboratories – as well as a large hall, Sixth Form common room andcanteen. At both sites we are careful to makespace for mentoring rooms and break-out areas.

We are resourceful about outdoor space, withtwo play areas at the main site and easy access toRegent’s Park. We have an annual Olympic-styleSports Day at a large, off-site athletics track andwe regularly use local sports facilities.

“The Year 9 Awardtaught me to takeresponsibility for myown learning.”
