The last few months have given our stu-dents great opportunities from partici-pating in theatre, sports, and arts to delving into inquiry based learning! In our school you will see students en-gaged in learning and loving it!
We are excited for the months ahead and each day brings a new way to look at learning so that all students are en-gaged!
Thank you to the staff who puts in more time and effort than anyone could possi-

What do we do on Professional Development Days?
On October 27 we again welcomed Kenzie Rushton, facilitator for the Galileo Project,
University of Calgary. We are spending our days delving into inquiry based learning!
This has been a great professional learning experience and you can see much of our
learning in our classrooms. Ask our teachers what is new in their classrooms and
they’ll be excited to share!
Students participated in a mural crea-
tion with artists from around Beaver-
lodge. Partnering with professionals
supports discipline based inquiry learn-
ing and increases student engagement.
When we increase engagement we in-
crease learning!

What are sacraments? This is a frequently asked question. In the Catholic Church, we cele-brate seven sacraments; three sacraments of initiation, Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation; two sacraments of Healing, Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick; and two sacraments of vocation, Marriage and Holy Orders. Billions of people all over the world, and throughout time, have received one or more of these sacraments. However, knowing sacraments exist does not completely answer the question. There are still the questions of what a sacrament does, how it affects us, and why we celebrate them.
We can look to theologians for one explanation. Many have said that the sacraments are, at the same time, signs and instruments of God’s grace. That is, the seven sacraments are cere-monies that point to what is sacred, significant, and important for Christians. They are special occasions for experiencing God’s saving presence. The invisible made visible.
But more importantly the Sacraments are, in our tradition, an essential way to connect with Christ. They are how we experience His grace, His love, in a very physical way. Through ordi-nary things, like the water in baptism, the chrism oil of confirmation and the bread that be-comes the body of our Lord, we connect with the extraordinary, God’s grace, and his unfailing love for us.
So, as we explore our three year theme of Connecting with something Bigger, let us remem-ber that God’s love is bigger than anything we could ever possibly experience and God’s love is always with us. We desire a physical connectedness with our Father and we find it in the Sacraments, when God envelopes us in His arms, when we feel His unfailing love, and when He makes the ordinary extraordinary.
