PALM SUNDAY PROCESSION- The New Paltz Church Council will again sponsor a procession through the streets of New Paltz on Palm Sunday April 14. All the Christian churches in New Paltz will participate and we will gather at the Middle School at 1:00 (step-off is at 1:30). The procession will end here at St. Joseph’s church hall. It will be a wonderful opportunity to gather as followers of Christ and to witness to the presence of Christ in our local community. And we are looking for parishioners to donate snacks and finger foods for the reception- whatever you could bring would be greatly appreciated. Please bring them to the church hall that afternoon before you go to the procession.
SERVICES FOR HOLY WEEK AND EASTER- Please join us for our liturgical celebrations of the Paschal Mystery, that is, of the salvation that God has given to us out of love in the person of Jesus Christ. Holy Thursday, April 18- Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 9:00 A.M. (no washing of the feet or procession with the Eucharist); Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:30 P.M. (followed by Benediction) Holy Saturday, April 20- Easter Vigil at 8:00 P.M. Easter Sunday, April 21- Masses at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:30
HOLY THURSDAY PILGRIMAGE- It has long been a custom for the faithful to visit seven churches on Holy Thursday after the Mass of the Lord’s Supper in their own parish. There will be a pamphlet on the tables in church with the information on the Holy Thursday services in all of the Catholic churches in Ulster County. The pamphlet also has suggested prayers to be said on each stop of the pilgrimage.
YOUNG ADULT HOLY HOUR- REVIVE Young Adults, a Catholic apostolate for young adults college-aged to 39 years of age in Ulster & Northern Dutchess will be holding its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 9 from 7PM-9PM. Join us for a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration and then for some socializing and sharing about our faith afterwards. For more info: [email protected]
CHARISMATIC PRAYER GROUP- Please come and join us at our next Charismatic Prayer Meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 7:00 P.M. in the church, and is held on the second Wednesday of each month at the same time. Come and be open to the Spirit! All are welcome.
PAX CHRISTI MEETING- Are you interested in learning more about Catholic and interfaith approaches to peace, justice and the environment? Please join us at our next meeting with discussion sponsored by members of Pax Christi USA, the national Catholic peace movement on Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 P.M. in the library on the lower level of the St. Joseph parish center. If you are interested but unable to attend, please contact Julie Slivka at [email protected] or (240) 818-7189. We hope to see you there!
PRESENTATION ON THE EUCHARIST- Come and learn about this most important part of our faith and reflect on how this sacrament enriches our encounter with Jesus and with one another in Him. It will be presented by Fr. Salvatore and will be on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 P.M. in the church hall.
BREAKFAST WITH THE EASTER BUNNY- All children of the parish are invited to have breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 13 at 9:00 A.M. in the church hall. Enjoy a deli-
cious breakfast and have your children take a photograph with the Easter Bunny. To make reservations for the breakfast, please contact the parish office, 255-5635 x100. The price will be $15 per immediate household and $5.00 per individual (e.g. aunt, uncle, grandparent, etc.) which will be collected the day of the event. And remember to bring your Easter baskets for the Easter Egg Hunt!
JOIN OUR FESTIVAL CHOIR! - We are blessed to have a wonderful music ministry here at St. Joseph's and the cantors and musicians share their gift of music to make the liturgy an even more beautiful and prayerful experience. The Festival Choir is under the direction of Jessica Avampato and sings at Masses for special occasions, such as some of the Christmas Masses, Holy Thursday, Easter Vigil, etc. If you can sing and would like to be part of this choir for Holy Week, please come to the church on Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 P.M. for a rehearsal. For more information, please contact Jessica at [email protected]
MEN’S PRAYER GROUP MEETING- All the men of the parish are invited to the next meeting of our Men’s Prayer Group. It will be on Saturday, April 13 at 9:45 A.M. in the parish center. We will pray together and then one of our members will offer a brief presentation which we will then have a discussion around. Refreshments will be provided. It’s a wonderful opportunity to grow in your faith by sharing your own experience and by learning from what your brothers in Christ will share. You’re not committing yourself to the group by attending the meeting but please try us out and invite a friend.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL- Vacation Bible School this year here at St. Joseph’s will be from Monday, July 1 through Friday, July 5 and will run each day from 9:30- 1:00 P.M. There will be games, music, Bible stories, and arts and crafts- all to help children learn about our faith in a fun and
exciting way. There is no charge for the program and snacks will be provided. More details to come but please save the dates for your children! For more information, contact Roberta Perrego, [email protected] or 845-702-8830
APOLLO 11 PRESENTATION- To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the First Moon Landing, we will have a presentation here at St. Joseph’s called "From the tragedy of Apollo 1 to the success of Apollo 11." It will be in the church hall on April 15 and will begin at 7:00 P.M. The presenter will be one of our fellow parishioners, Lou Cariola, who will discuss his personal experience as an engineer/physicist with Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp in the development and manufacturing of the Lunar Module. He will also discuss his interaction with NASA and his trips to the top of the launch pad for Apollo 7, 9 and 11, as well as providing detailed drawings of the Lunar Module and many of the different materials that are seen on the Lunar Module. These artifacts were cut from the same sheets of material that were used on LM-5 which sits on the moon today! There will be time for questions. Donated to the church to be raffled on May 3, 2019 is an extremely rare artifact of the LM-5 with documents of authenticity. Raffle tickets will be available at this presentation.

ERIC MUNSON FUNDRAISER- The HHS Jazz Ensemble, in conjunction with the Highland community and HHS Interact, invite you to contribute to an evening of music and friendship to raise funds for the family of Eric Munson. Diagnosed with brain cancer in January 2018, Eric, his wife Micki, and their children continue to demonstrate hope and courage through their strug-gle. In support of this remarkable family there will be Jazz mu-sic, desserts and a silent auction on Thursday, April 11, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Highland High School Cafeteria. Tickets are $10/person or $40/family and are available at the door. For more information and if you are interested in sponsoring this event please email [email protected]
OUR SPRING GALA

This event will be a semi-formal dinner dance and will begin at 6:30 P.M. with a beer/wine, crackers & cheese hour. Tickets will be $50 per per-son and will be available at the parish office through the end of April. Enjoy delicious food in an elegant setting, be with your friends from the parish and dance the night away! This time out there will be no Silent Auction but there will be eight very spe-cial raffles, including a Mohonk overnight stay; a two night stay in Sheraton Hotels in New York City; an Italian dinner for ten made by Fr. Tickets for the raffles and for the event itself will be available soon at the parish office and after the Masses on March 30/31; April 6/7; and April 27/28. CAPUCHIN VOCATIONS- The Capuchin Franciscans are in-
spired by the life and ideals of St. Francis of Assisi- dedicated to serving those in need, living a simple lifestyle together as a community of brothers, and drawing closer to the Lord through common and private prayer. If you are interested in becoming a Capuchin brother or priest, please see one of the friars or go to www.capuchin.org/vocations. It doesn’t cost a thing and it just might change your life.

FLU SEASON- As we are getting through the flu season, we try to remember ways to avoid spreading any infection with our brothers and sisters. For example, at the Sign of Peace it would be totally appropriate to bow or to nod your head to your neighbors in the pew instead of shaking their hands. Also, you may choose to not receive the Precious Blood from the chalice but instead to only receive the Host (the Body of Christ). Catholics believe that whether Holy Communion is received under the form of bread or under the form of wine, the whole Christ is being received. There will also be hand sanitizer dispensers in the back of the church and at the back entrance. Whatever you decide to do, take care of your-selves and keep healthy!
