Information for Students

Dear Year 11,

This booklet gives information about key revision sessions provided for you whilst you are on

study leave. You should take advantage of the supervised sessions, especially if you find it

difficult to discipline your time revising alone at home.

For Year 11, we are also offering “Final Countdown Sessions”; these are 20–minute sessions

with your teacher just before your actual exam. Of course it is too late to learn anything new

at this point, but your teacher will remind you what the paper you are about to take entails,

how best to approach it and remind you about what you have learnt in the course in

preparation for this big day.

Please remember:

Bring a bottle of water to take into the exam (the label needs to be removed).

Sweets can be brought into the exam hall but again these must be in clear packaging.

No chewing gum is allowed.

Mobile communication devices including phones, tablets and watches must be handed

in at the start of every exam. We advise that each device is clearly labelled.

Even if you feel nervous, it is a good idea to have something to eat on the morning of

an exam.

You should wear full school uniform if you are attending revision sessions or exams.

When you are in school you must either be in a revision session or taking an exam.

When you are in school for exams or revision sessions, other students are working so

do not go onto the Astroturf, field, skate–park or wander about the school site during

lesson times. We hope that you will understand this.

Finally, don’t worry over the coming weeks; if you are not sure what to do or have any

questions or concerns come and talk to your teachers!

One very useful site for Science is Tassomai

80%.

80% is the magic number, the minimum that students should be aiming to score on

their Tassomai. At this point they will have completed enough of the course to have

had a real impact on their exam success. Please keep working on this at home,

particularly during study leave, it is easy to fit in 10 minutes a day on Tassomai, even

during your other exam commitments and this will make a real impact. Of course flash

cards and past papers are very important too!

Learning Support Exam Stress

Students will have the opportunity to attend the following sessions:

Mindfulness Sessions

For the duration of the exam period, Miss Handyside will be running Mindfulness sessions

from 8.05–8.20am in Drama Studio 1.

The sessions will offer students the opportunity to practise effective techniques that will calm,

focus and prepare their minds for their exams. By focussing on simple breathing techniques

and relaxation exercises, any potential feelings of stress and anxiety can be considerably

reduced.

The sessions will run as drop–ins so no notification needs to be given of attendance, simply

turn up by 8.05am on the day.
