Our St Bridget of Sweden School Academic Jr High Decathlon team competed on Sunday, March 3rd at the Long Beach Pyramid along with 100 other catholic schools. Our students, faculty and parents enjoyed seeing the decathlon team in action as they showcased their knowledge in a fun way. We thank the Ms. Tallis for serving as coach and Mrs. Dornan for helping in preparing our students. The decathlon returned home with one medal in Literature after achieving 6th place. Congratulations to our Decathlon team. We are very proud of your achievements!

DE SANTA BRIGIDA Nuestro equipo de decatlón académico de secundaria de Sta. Brígida compitió el pasado domingo, 3 de marzo, en la Pirámide de Long Beach contra otras 100 escuelas católicas. Nuestros estudiantes, padres y maestros disfrutaron viendo a los chicos divertirse y hacer todo lo posible para mostrar lo que son capaces de hacer. Agradecemos a la Señorita Tallis su arduo trabajo de entrenamiento, y el apoyo de la señora Dornan para ayudar en la preparación de nuestros estudiantes. La escuela de Sta. Brígida regresó a casa con una medalla en Literatura, colocándose en el sexto lugar. ¡Felicidades a nuestro equipo de decatlón académico!¡Estamos orgullosos de ustedes!

2019 Lenten Message of His Holiness Pope Francis

1. The redemption of creation The celebration of the Paschal Triduum of Christ’s passion, death and resurrection, the culmination of the liturgical year, calls us yearly to undertake a journey of preparation, in the knowledge that our being conformed to Christ (cf. Rom 8:29) is a priceless gift of God’s mercy. When we live as children of God, redeemed, led by the Holy Spirit (cf. Rom 8:14) and capable of acknowledging and obeying God’s law, beginning with the law written on our hearts and in nature, we also benefit creation by cooperating in its redemption. That is why Saint Paul says that creation eagerly longs for the revelation of the children of God; in other words, that all those who enjoy the grace of Jesus’ paschal mystery may experience its fulfillment in the redemption of the human body itself. When the love of Christ transfigures the lives of the saints in spirit, body and soul, they give praise to God. Through prayer, contemplation and art, they also include other creatures in that praise, as we see admirably expressed in the “Canticle of the Creatures” by Saint Francis of Assisi (cf. Laudato Si’, 87). Yet in this world, the harmony generated by redemption is constantly threatened by the negative power of sin and death. To be continued…

San dad Papa Francisco 1. La redención de la creación La celebración del Triduo pascual de la pasión, muerte y resurrección de Cristo, culmen del año litúrgico, nos invita anualmente a emprender un recorrido de preparación, sabiendo que nuestro ser conformes a Cristo (cf. Rom 8, 29) es un regalo in-valuable de la misericordia de Dios. Cuando vivimos como hijos de Dios, redimidos, guiados por el Espíri-tu Santo (cf. Romanos 8:14); y capaces de reconocer y obedecer la ley de Dios, comenzando con la ley escrita en nuestros corazones y en la naturaleza, también beneficiamos a la creación cooperando en su redención. Es por eso que San Pablo dice que la creación anhela ansiosamente la revelación de los hijos de Dios; en otras palabras, que todos aquellos que disfrutan de la gracia del misterio pascual de Jesús pueden experimentar su cumplimiento en la redención del cuerpo humano mismo. Cuando el amor de Cristo transfigura las vidas de los santos en espíritu, cuerpo y alma, alaban a Dios. A través de la oración, la contemplación y el arte, también incluyen otras criaturas en esa alabanza, como vemos admirablemente expresados en el "Cántico de las criaturas" de San Francisco de Asís (cf. This patronage must be invoked as ever necessary for the church, not only as a defense against all dangers, but also, and indeed primarily, as an impetus for her renewed commitment to evangelization in the world and to re-evangelization, “wrote St. John Paul II in Redemptoris Custos (guardian of the Redeemer). John Paul II further said, “because St. Joseph is the protector of the church, he is the guardian of the Eucharistic and the Christian family. Therefore, we must turn to St. Joseph today to ward off attacks upon the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist and upon the family.

SAN JOSÉ El mes de marzo está dedicado a la fiesta

de San José, (19 de marzo) "Este patronazgo debe ser invocado siempre como necesario para la iglesia, no solo como defensa contra todos los peligros, sino también, y de hecho, principalmente, como un impulso hacia su renovado compromiso con la evangelización en el mundo y la re-evangelización", escribió San Juan Pablo II en Redemptoris Custos (guardián del Redentor). Juan Pablo II dijo además: “porque san José es el protector de la iglesia, él es el guardián de la familia eucarística y cristiana. Por lo tanto, debemos acudir a San José hoy para evitar ataques contra la presencia real de Cristo en la Eucaristía y sobre la familia.
