Subject: Permission for submitting the Group Project Report
Dear Madam,We are pleased to submit our Group project report on Day carecentre in Dhaka City. Our report focused on the presentcondition of the day care centre and peoples associates to this
centre. We have gathered information as much as possible. We tried togather both primary and secondary data. Much of our secondarydata came from books, newspapers, CDs and partly from the website. Other data came from primary sources. The entire durationof preparing this report has been immensely helpful to us, agolden opportunity to look outside the regular classroom and tothe real world. A lot of lessons were learnt and lots of experienceswere gained. Developing interpersonal skills, taking formal
interviews and of course handling each and every detail were justto name a few. Truly this will help us in our future life.
We enjoyed working on this report and hope you will find itinnovative.
Sincerely yours,

Day care is typically an ongoing service during specific periods,
such as the parents' time at work. Some child minders care for
children from several families at the same time, either in theirown home or in a specialized child care facility. Some employers
provide nursery provision for their employees at or near the place
of employment. There may be occasions when more than one
individual cares for children in a family childcare home. This can
be a stay-at-home parent who seeks supplemental income while
caring for their own child. There are also many family childcare
providers who have chosen this field as a profession. Local
legislation will regulate the number and ages of children allowed
per family child care home. Some localities have very stringent
quality standards that require licensure for family child care
homes while others require little or no regulations for childcare in
individual's homes. Some home day cares operate illegally with
respect to tax legislation where the care provider does not report
fees as income and the parent does not receive a receipt to
qualify for childcare tax deductions. It was a descriptive research.
At first, we gathered somegeneralinformation about daycare
centre from secondary sources like, books, websites, journals,
Newspapers etc. Then we tried to get some idea about daycare
centres from those data. After that we developed a questionnaire
to do door-to-door personal interview. We applied purposive non-
probability sampling technique to select our 50 respondents. Then
five of our group members went to the field for collecting primary
data. We make groups of 2-3 members. Our respondents were
interviewed in their offices & houses. After collecting primary data
we did editing and coding for statistical analysis. Then we usedsoftware for data processing and analysis. Based on the analysis
of both primary and secondary data we prepared this research
report. To complete this report on time we followed a work
schedule.

Chapter 1:
Introduction:
Day care appeared in France about 1840, and the Societies des
Crches was recognized by the French government in 1869.Originating in Europe in the late 18th and early 19th century, day
cares were established in the United States by private charities in
the 1850s, the first being the New York Day Nursery in 1854.
Daycare is care of a child during the day by a person other than
the child's legal guardians, typically performed by someone
outside the child's immediate family. Day care is typically an
ongoing service during specific periods, such as the parents' timeat work. Day care is provided in nurseries or crches or by child
minders caring for children in their own homes. It can also take on
a more formal structure, with education, child development,
discipline and even preschool falling into the fold of services.
Some child minders care for children from several families at the
same time, either in their own home or in a specialized child care
facility. Some employers provide nursery provision for their
employees at or near the place of employment. Child care in thechild's own home is traditionally provided by a nanny or by
extended family members including grandparents, aunts and
uncles.
Family day cares can be operated by a single individual out of
their home. There may be occasions when more than one
individual cares for children in a family childcare home. This can
be a stay-at-home parent who seeks supplemental income while
caring for their own child. There are also many family childcareproviders who have chosen this field as a profession. Local
legislation will regulate the number and ages of children allowed
per family child care home. Some localities have very stringent
quality standards that require licensure for family child care
homes while others require little or no regulations for childcare in

individual's homes. Some home day cares operate illegally with
respect to tax legislation where the care provider does not report
fees as income and the parent does not receive a receipt to
qualify for childcare tax deductions
1.1: Objectives of the study:
Broad objectives:
The general purpose of the study is to see the present situation of
day care center in Bangladesh and parents associated with it.
Sub objectives:
To overlook how many days will they provide service in a
week.
To overlook is the day care locate?
To see timing of day care centre?
To see what kind of food they feed to the children?

To see the transportation system to the way of day care?
To see is the day care centre is secured?
To see whether the care taker of children is well trained or
not?
1.2: Limitations of the study
We wanted to do some in-depth interviews. But due to lack time
we could not do any in-depth interview. We also had to face very
bad weather while collecting data from the field. Some of our
respondents did not want to give interview. So, it was difficult toconvince them. Sometimes they were not present at the time of
field work. So, we had to revisit them for collecting data.
Expectation:
More parents today are choosing in home child care for their
children for a variety of reasons, including convenience, safety
and flexibility. In home daycare providers should be carefully
screened prior to being hired. Since parents have varying
expectations of their childcare providers, a written contract
between parents and provider is a good way to start the
relationship. This way, each party knows what to expect of the
other.
Child care centers, in many people's minds, involves a child being
checked into an institution-like building and getting to play withother kids all day. The kids watch television, eat snacks and
maybe finger paint a bit.
This image may have been the standard in childcare ten or fifteen
years ago, but today's parents are expecting much more for their

money. If they are willing to pay out hundreds of dollars each
week, per child, they want to know the child is receiving an
education as well as being taken care of each day.
Some of the extra services that childcare in higher quality centersoffer, can range from organic meals, foreign language education,
computer instruction and even mathematics. Most children are
expected to have knowledge of the basics, such as the alphabet
and beginning numbers, by the time they reach elementary
school. Studies have shown that the earlier a child begins learning
the fundamentals, the more likely they will be to excel when
reaching school.
What one can expect from daycare:
Positive reinforcement and encouragement in your entire
child does or attempts to do
Developmentally appropriate and stimulating activities
Special care and respect for your child
Nutritionally balanced meals and snacks
Daily notes (mostly verbal)
Open and honest communication, if anything is going on
with your child, I will talk to you about it
Peace of mind.
What daycare expect from parents:
Bring their child ready for a day of activities and play -a
rested child is easier going, less frustrated, happier and
more predictable
Prompt payment of child care tuition
Prompt departure with your child so that my personalneeds and commitments are also met
Notify me if your child is going to be absent or late
Take an interest in your childs day talk to them about
the days activities

11
Open and honest communication if there is a problem
(however big or small) we need to talk about it to prevent
hard feelings or misunderstandings.
Behind the expectation there is a mutual responsibility. That is to
treat each other with respect. Communicate on a regular basis
about the childs rest, nutrition, new skills, fears, interests, joys
and health.
Choosing the proper daycare center for a child should be acarefully thought out and researched process. With some daycare
centers are being exceptional and some being just plain bad, it is
important to pick a center that helps a child grow and develop his
skills while also having fun.
1.3 Research Methodology
It was a descriptive research. At first we gathered some general
information about the day care center from the secondary
sources like the websites, books, newspapers etc. Then we tried
to get some information about the center from that information.
After that we created a questionnaire to do door-to door personal
interview. We applied purposive non-probability sampling
technique to select our respondents. Then five of our group
members went to field for collecting primary information. We
make our groups into two parts. Our respondents were
interviewed in house. After collecting primary information we did
editing and coding for statistical analysis. Based on the analysis of
both primary and secondary information we prepared this
research report .we started this report about some weeks ago

2.0 Data Analysis
To analyze the data we have done frequency distribution and
cross tabulation. We used some variables to achieve our
objectives. The following portion of the report is based on our
objectives.
Source of data
There are two sources of data collecting. One is primary and otheris secondary. In our research we have used secondary source.
Sample size
We had talked with 25 people having different cases. So the
sample size of our research was 25.
Probability: Among the samples 4 samples was probable. Thatmeans those sample was selected by lottery method.
Non-probability: 21 samples were non-probable among the entire
sample. Those samples were purposive sample.

Data collection
There are different methods and instruments to collect data. We
had used the most common and widely used technique of data
collection. The method is survey method. It is a method ofgathering primary data from a sample of individuals based on-
Questionnaires (hand-to-hand & e-mails )
Interviews (telephone or face-to-face)

Conclusion:
In our society, at present most of the women (mother) are
entering in the professional arena. And in most of the home there
is nobody who can look after their children. As both parents are
busy with their work & they are out all day, it seems necessary for
a working mother to send their children to daycare centre for
their childrens proper upbringing. It helps the working mother to
do their respective job soundly. As day passes though there aresome doubt, daycare centre is becoming reliable place where a
working mother can keep their children safely & continue their
professional life.

Sometimes caregivers have the unpleasant job of discussingnot-so-nice behaviors or unacceptable incidents. Refrain
from taking it personally, and don't become angry or upset.
If you feel there is another reason for your child's behavior or
action and you feel the caregiver has not done something
correctly, this is the time to speak up and address those
concerns. But be sure to do so in a respectful and
professional manner. And, be sure to listen to any
explanation. For making the awareness of the general people media
should play important and effective role on behalf of the day
care centre. Media can promote this centre very well.
The amount they charge in the day care centre is high. As
we are a poor country, they should consider it.
Day care centre should recommend many educative books,
toys, healthy foods, and etc.
Day care centre should be given financial support (Loans, money incentives etc.) and motivation so that they continue
to increase their efficiency and creativity.
