Sprint Kit #55 Installation Guide

PurposeThe purpose of this document is to provide setup procedures for JDSU Sprint Kit #55. There are 2 configurations of the kit #55 the CDMA/EVDO and the LTE configurations. Both configurations includes a W1314-E18 Scanner Receiver, the CDMA/EVDO configuration includes 2 Samsung Trender phones and a Sierra Wireless 598U EVDO Data Card; the LTE configuration includes 3 LG LS840 UEs. This version of the installation guide will only focus on the setup of the LTE configuration.

Procedure (LTE Configuration)

1. LG LS840 UE SettingsPrior to connecting the LG LS840 UEs to the laptop check the following setting:

1. Diag Port Enabled -- type ##DIAG# (##3424#) on the keypad

2. USB debugging from Home Screen – Settings => Applications => Development=> USB debugging (check)

3. System selection – type ##IOT (##468) to enter the IOT Hidden Menu. Enter the Service Code from the label on back UE. SPC ######. Select System selection to select Network Mode; select preferred Network Mode (LTE Only).

4. Tethering DL PortForwarding – from the same IOT Hidden Menu, select PDN Settings. Select Tethering DL PortForwarding. Verify port forwarding is disabled (or enable). Enabling port forwarding is required only on the UE that will perform the iPerf DL test.

5. Tethering PDN Select – Verify PDN select is set to Using PAM. From the IOT Hidden Menu, select PDN settings, then select Tethering PDN Select. Verify Using PAM

3. Preliminary ChecksThe following steps are to be done prior to running the JDSU data collection kit. This will save time in troubleshooting if there are issues with UE connectivity in the kit when attempting to collect data.

a. LG LS840 UE connection to networkOnce the LG LS840 UEs are connected to the computer and tethered, the UEs should all have a unique IP address from DHCP. When all three UE are tethered and attached to the network you should see the following in the Network and Sharing Center; three Local Area Connections with the Access type of Internet.

This is the Network Connections view; it provides the same connection information but with the device names.

This is the IP addresses from each UE as shown in ipconfig.

b. LG LS840 Connection IssuesIf one or more UEs are tethered and not connected to the network with its own IP address. These are some steps to take to try to resolve the issues.

Open the connection that has no internet access (for example Local Area Connect2)

Change the radio buttons to Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Click Advanced to see if DHCP is enabled

This capture shows DHCP Enabled

4. JDSU NiXT Data Collection Set UpOnce the previous steps are complete and verified, JDSU can be set up for drive testing. The kit will be shipped with a default JDSU NiXT project file setup for Sprint LTE. However there are still market specific parameters that will need to be checked and/or modified for proper kit functionality. The following steps are needed to prepare the tool kit.

Hardware Settings

Verify the correct Com port assignments for the devices from section 2.

Verify that the correct “Trace” and “Dialup” ports are assigned per the device diagram for each UE. Once verified, probe the devices within JDSU to make sure there are no conflicts withing the NiXT software.

This section will show how to verify the setting of the sequencer. Verify the UEs are matched to the associated network devices, and the tests in the sequencer are matched to the UEs.

1. UE1 Sequencer Settings

Make sure the Network interface matches the Network Adapter for the UE as shown in Device Manager (see Device Manager screen capture in Section 2).

2. UE1 Sequencer TestsUE1 will be performing the Attach, Ping, and Detach tests
