2 APPLICATION MATERIALS
(DOCUMENTS) SUBMISSION
From OCT. 27th 2014 at 09:30 to NOV. 14th 2014 at 17:00
▪After completion of on-line application, all applicants should submit required documents
along with printed-out applications to the Admins Office of Graduate School.
▪Submission can be made through postal services or hand-in to the office in person.
▪All documents should arrive no later than 17:00 May 20th and failing to comply with this
will entail elimination from admission process.
3 DOCUMENTS REVIEW
▪All departments will basically depend on assessments on applicants’ submitted documents
to select candidates for admission.
▪Some departments, such as Art Programs, will require for an additional interview and/or a
performance assessment.
4 INTERVIEWS AND
PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT

▪Physical Education and Art & Music Program applicants should attend interview and/or

2. QUOTA & ELIGIBILITY
QUOTA
▶ A limited number of students are admitted in each department and program.

▪ All applicant must meet one of the following nationality requirements.
- A foreign national whose parents are both foreign nationals
- A person who had completed all educations equivalent to elementary,
junior high, high school, and undergraduate education in a foreign country
LANGUAGE
PROFICIENCY
▪ All applicant must meet one of the following language proficiency requirements.
- TOPIK(Korean Language Proficiency Test) Level 3 and higher
- Regular English Language Proficiency Test Score at a certain level (required)
(TOEFL PBT 550, CBT 210, iBT 80 / IELTS 5.5 / TEPS 550 and the above)
*Students admitted with S-TOPIK level 3 will have to supplement S-TOPIK level 4 or above
one semester before the graduating semester.
*If the student only speak English, no Korean, he/she must consult with the department
whether they will accept it or not before the application goes on the progress.
EXCEPTIONS
▪ Korean Language & Literature Department recommends applicants to submit
TOPIK Certificate Level 5 and higher for successful program completion.
▪ In case of Natural Science, Engineering, Arts and Physical Division Applicant :
with the study-permit and recommendation by a KU professor within that respective
department or program, the applicant can be exempted from the language proficiency
requirement mentioned the above.
(KUGRD-P4 standard form should be filled out, signed by KU Professor and submitted.)
▪ With the Study-Permit and Recommendation by KU Professor, an applicant can apply for and
become a successful candidate for FALL 2014 KU Graduate School Admissions, however please be
noted that without any regular English Proficiency Test results, foreign student scholarship
may not be granted for the first semester.
*Students admitted with Study-Permit and Recommendation will have to supplement S-
TOPIK level 4 or above or Regular English Language Proficiency Test score at a certain level
mentioned above one semester before the graduating semester starts.

▶ Every department basically selects students through reviewing of submitted documents of each applicant
thoroughly. In case of Arts & Physical Division, an additional interview and/or a performance assessment will
take place.

5. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS - PRECAUTIONS
NOTARIZATION & LIGALIZATION
▶ Every required original documents should be issued in Korean or English, and all documents issued in other language should be translated and attested(notarized) before submission.
▶ All Academic Record related materials including degree certificate and academic transcript have to be officially “Certified” by Korean Consul and should obtain the stamp of Korean Embassy(Consulate General) or “Apostilled” in the applicant’s home country(where the graduated university is located). Student of Chinese university should submit “Credential Report”(www.cdgdc.edu.cn) instead of Korean Consul Confirmation.

APPLICANT EXPEDTED TO GRADUATE
▶ An applicant who expect to graduate on Jan. ~ Feb. 2015 should send “Attested(Notarized) Copy of Expected Graduation Certificate and Transcript” issued at the time of application.
▶ After admission, by FEB 27st 2015, before the new semester starts, the student admitted with expected graduation certificate has to supplement his/her final graduation certificate and a final academic transcript (Apostilled or Korean consul certified) to the Office of Graduate School, or the admission will be revoked.
▶ If the documents are not issued in Korean or English, translation and notarization should be made and submitted.
▶ Please be noted that failing to comply with the supplementation of such documents in a given timeline will entail cancellation of admission of that respective candidate.

7. IMPORTANT REMINDERS
APPLICATION RELATED
▶ An applicant should register, make application, make payment on on-line application webpage before
deadline. After the deadline, modification of application information, application cancellation and its refund
cannot be made.
▶ After on-line application, an applicant should submit required documents to the Admins Office of
Graduate School within given timeline, and failing to comply with this dates will entail a dropout from the
admissions process.
▶ All included information as telephone number, e-mail address, etc. should be written exactly and correctly,
and any disadvantages caused by incorrect information are solely responsible for the applicant’s.
ADMISSIONS RELATED
▶ All arts and physical division applicants will have to take interview and/or performance assessment, so it is
necessary to check details through our Webpage.
▶ If an interview and/or performance assessment is scheduled, the applicant must arrive at a respective
student waiting spot 10 mins before the designated interview and/or performance assessment schedules. Also
the applicant must bring his/her ID(Passport or Alien Registration Card) and portfolios and/or other
documents stated in page 7 for the interview and/or performance assessment.
▶ For all other division(department) applicants, an additional ‘phone interview’ can take place and it may
differed by department by department.
ENROLLMENT AND ITS CANCELLATION
▶ If any required documents are found to be false or counterfeit, admission to Konkuk University Graduate
School will be revoked.
▶ If an admitted student is found not to qualify and does not meet the basic academic eligibility for
application –e.g. graduated from non-accredited university– the admission will also be revoked.
WITHDRAWING REGISTRATION
▶ If an admitted student wants to withdraw registration, the student has to fill out the form, called, 『Tuition
Refund Request Form』 and submit to the Admins Office of Graduate School by no later than 20th Feb. 2015
to get a full refund.
SOJOURN RELATED
▶ Every student staying in Korea for 90 days and more for Study Abroad Purpose, must report to Local
Immigration Office nearby and get registered for the issuance of 『Alien Registration Card』.

GRADUATION RELATED
▶ Every admitted student has to acquire and submit Korean Language Proficiency Test(TOPIK) Certificate
Level 4 or above, or a certain level of Regular English Proficiency Test Result to the Office of Graduate
School for graduation.
VISA ISSUANCE RELATED
▶ After registration, all new students should take steps to apply for visa issuance ASAP.
▶ All visa issuance related matters are dealt in accordance with the ROK Immigration Office policy and
please note that in case the Immigration Office refuse to issue a visa to an admitted student, KU
Graduate School cannot accept the student.

1. Admins Office of Graduate School verifies registration of each student & takes steps for VISA issuance.
2. After registration is finished with full tuition payment, Admins Office of Graduate School issues and
send ‘Certificate of Admission’ by post or inform ‘VISA number’ by e-mail(for Chinese) to registered
students living in overseas at early/mid of Feb. 2015
3. Admitted students should apply for ROK VISA 『D-2』in their respective Korean Embassy or Consulate.
For VISA Extension
(From D-2 to D-2)
1. After registration is finished with full tuition payment, an admitted student should visit Admins Office of
Graduate School to obtain the ‘Certificate of Admission’ from Feb. 14th 2015
2. With the Standard Acceptance Letter, the student has to visit Immigration Office for VISA extension.
For VISA Status Alteration
(From D-4 to D-2)
1. After registration is finished with full tuition payment, an admitted student should visit Admins Office of

3. In case of D-4 students, please note that the Standard Acceptance Letter can be issued after Feb. 2nd

effect considering that timeline to have it altered from D-4 to D-2.
HEALTH INSURANCE JOINING RELATED
▶ According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education, all new students MUST join Health insurance.
If you do not follow this regulation, you will get the penalty.
▶ You will be notified detailed information of insurance through e-mail at the end of Feb 2015, and You can
join the insurance at the Orientation Session held on FEB. 27th 2015, thus, please prepare the cash
(\130,000~\140,000/1year)for joining insurance.
▶ If you have already joined Insurance, Please bring the copy of that insurance policy to admins office.
OTHERS
▶, You CANNOT apply for a leave of absence at the first semester. (But, Sick Leave is still possible.)
▶ You CANNOT change “Department” after the entrance.
