Spreading Theory Shell A) Interpretation: Debate ought to be an event where both debaters are aware of what is happening. Clarity is a necessary element of debate. Both debaters must comprehend each other so debaters thus must speak clearly and at a reasonable pace. B) Violation: My opponent (spreads/is unclear) C) Standards Ground Skew – They take away my ground, because I cannot refute them. This gives me zero ground to argue on, which leads to the impacts of fairness and education; fairness because it isn’t fair that I have no ground, and education because we can’t have an educational debate when one side can’t understand the other. Time Skew – I am forced to read this Theory which wastes my time Comprehension – I cannot refute my opponent’s speech because I don’t comprehend my opponent. D) Voter Fairness: Debate needs to be fair for both sides. If one person could win in Lincoln Douglas just by speaking (quickly/unclearly), no one would participate in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Thus, my opponent is creating a reason not to debate in the future. Education: Because of my opponent’s violation, I am unable to refute his case. This decreases the education in the debate, because no arguments are being made and no educational discourse is present.

A) Interpretation: Debate ought to be an event where both debaters are aware of what is happening. Clarity is a necessary element of debate. Both debaters must comprehend each other so debaters thus must speak clearly and at a reasonable pace.

B) Violation: My opponent (spreads/is unclear)C) Standards

Ground Skew – They take away my ground, because I cannot refute them. This gives me zero ground to argue on, which leads to the impacts of fairness and education; fairness because it isn’t fair that I have no ground, and education because we can’t have an educational debate when one side can’t understand the other. Time Skew – I am forced to read this Theory which wastes my timeComprehension – I cannot refute my opponent’s speech because I don’t comprehend my opponent.

D) VoterFairness: Debate needs to be fair for both sides.
