The United States has the fastest growing squash participation level of any country worldwide.The most recent data from the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association shows a remarkable growth of 82% between 2007 and 2011 to an estimated 1.2 million players nationally. Junior squash is one of the fastest growing areas, with participation in junior events increasing more than 400% in the same period. Last season, U.S. Squash’s online system recorded 82,396 matches…double the amount from five years ago. As well as higher participation rates, U.S. Squash membership has increased by 105% since 2005. THE U.S. OPENThe U.S. Open is the most prestigious squash tournament in the United States, and one of the most significant in the world.

It is a major international display of supreme talent in the sport which showcases the top players from around the world, and brings fanatical visitors from across the globe to view elite competition.

The event forms part of the 2013 World Series for both the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and Women’s Squash Association (WSA), and offers $230,000 in prize money. It is especially unique as it is one of only a few World Series stops for both the Men’s and Women’s tour, and the only event of this level in the world to offer equal prize money in both the men’s and women’s draws.

Starting in 1954, the U.S. Open has had a tradition of intense competition in a dynamic atmosphere. It has previously been held in iconic locations such as Michigan Avenue and Millennium Park in Chicago and Symphony Hall in Boston.

Since 2011, the U.S. Open has been held in Philadelphia, at the heart of the squash community, where Drexel University is transformed into a world-class showcase venue to host the prominent event.
