Welcome to the Farewell Life has been like a whirlwind for me this past month. Some of you may or may not know, but I have decided to go out on that limb and chase the cat. I am headed to Los Angeles, California to get a start on the life that I feel like I was born to live. At first, I was a little scared. Ok, I was straight shook. After all, we are in a depression (depression with a D, not an R). But I feel like at some point, you just have to take the plunge. I’m 35 years old and I aint getting no younger...this face full of white hairs reminds me of that every day. TEMPORARY RELOCATION Its not permanent. I happen to be fortunate enough to know a few people who know a few people. Two of my best friends live together and have an extra room for me. So I will be staying with them for a short time, seeing what I can see, doing what I can get done, meeting who I can meet, and then coming back just in time to ride the Diamondback at Kings Island. And so begins the journey. Wish me luck! There are a lot of different types of writings that require a lot of different types of skill, and I am learning real quick that a newsletter incorporates damn near all of them. Quick, highly focused thoughts. Information boxes. Captions. There is not very much room for long, drawn out and incoherent ramblings. But its perfect for a bunch of disjointed, independent rants... just like my spiral notebook! On these pages you can expect to see a variety of my thoughts. Sometimes it will be story snippets, sometimes it will be bitching and sometimes it will be advice... but hopefully it will always be entertaining! Why Spiral? THE PROTOTYPE. Lil’ Nick, 15 years old. A mighty mighty Mustang sophomore at Western Hills High School. Got paid to DJ the school senior dance this past weekend. THE PRINCESS. Destany, 11 years old. She is not allowed to call herself a “preteen” until she is 12 years old. Likes M&M’s and Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul. THE PRODIGY. Raekwon, 8 years old. This one even does his homework without being told sometimes. Made A-B honor roll this quarter with perfect attendance. SPIRAL ALWAYS FREE ISSUE NO . 1 NICK LIVINGSTON

Welcome to the FarewellLife has been like a whirlwind for me this past month.

TEMPORARY RELOCATIONIts not permanent.

But its

perfect for a bunch of disjointed, independent rants... just like my spiral notebook!

Identity Issues Can be Hard on the Kids These Days

ABOUT ME

Name: Nick Livingston

Age: 35

Home: Cincinnati, OH

High School: Western Hills High School, class of 92

College: University of Cincinnati, Raymond Walters college, class of 2004

Degree: Electronic Media

Famous Lie: “Its OK...I forgive you”

My hero this week: Lil’ Nick, getting paid to do what he loves. Sky is the limit, son!

THERE IS ALWAYS AN INCITING INCIDENTI have been told many times by many different people that I should have a column. This will be that column. Although it is unpaid (which sucks), I can say whatever I want (which is awesome) and I only have to answer to myself and my readership (which, including myself,

equals one). I’ll be honest, I try to maintain a middle-of-the-road, open minded approach to most things. But every now and again I hear something that gets an instant reaction out of me, and those are the things that I’m gonna attempt to share. The smaller things in life. After all, life is just a collection of events. Everyone remembers the big important ones, but usually it is the smaller ones that effectively shape our lives the most. For instance, everyone knows who and what Barney is, but what the fuck is Grimace? I remember debating that one with my homie one night and literally hurting my stomach from laughing too hard. I don’t even know if I have the talent yet to relate that story to you... it was very much a small “in the moment” kinda thing... but I know that I can never look at Big Purp the same again.

If you know me well, then you already know that my ultimate goal is to take a movie from idea to screen. That means write, produce, direct, act in (not star, thanks), help edit, and do the soundtrack. Lofty goals, I know. But you cant achieve if you don’t aspire. Okay, enough about me. The real reason that this newsletter even exists is to build a little bit of hype for my work. So here is a little bit more about some of the things I’m working on.

SCREENPLAYSCin-City - 2 guys try to hide a homemade brothel from an investigative reporter and their brother, the mayor of Cincinnati. The script has been described as “Risky Business in the Hood” and “The best little whorehouse in Cincinnati”. If it can hold a candle to either one of those, I’d be extremely happy.

Untitled Dark Script - A young man endures a rough childhood to grow up

into one of the most successful entertainers of all time. But what secret lurks beneath the exterior? I’m no M. Night Shyamalan but the twist here is worth the journey.

NOVELCin-City - A novelization of the screenplay. If I can’t sell the script, I’ll publish the novel. And if I can’t get it published, I’ll self-publish.

Untitled Love Story - A love that was never supposed to be grows into an unbreakable bond between Rico and Natasha. They cannot be denied yet they can never be together. Stay tuned for samples from this one.

MUSICBusiness/Casual - My second self-produced hip-hop album. Recording in progress, but early tracks “You Dont Really Love Me” and “Take One” are posted at www.myspace.com/jabukki . Take a listen, let me know what you think!!

Soul Progression - My brother Emanuel (Producer of the Lincoln Ware show 1230AM, WDBZ - mornings) and the group sings every Friday and/or Saturday night at Club Mesh in West Chester. Soon to be performing songs written by me. Check em out!!
