Three New Jeep® Brand Products for 2010 Broadens Vehicle Lineup

New Jeep® vehicles that appeared at 2010 New York International Auto Show

The Jeep® brand is broadening its vehicle lineup with the introduction of three new rugged, versatile and

innovative vehicles that deliver classic Jeep design and capability.

•Liberty Renegade boasts classic Jeep® design, a premium, rugged appear-ance and numerous standard features that deliver renowned Jeep capability

•Liberty Renegade positioned between Sport and Limited models; available in Jeep showrooms first quarter 2010

•Jeep Wrangler Islander theme returns after 20-year hiatus, delivering unique fun-and-freedom package; available in Jeep showrooms first quarter 2010

•Available second quarter 2010, Jeep Wrangler Mountain edition boasts rugged outdoor theme, with 32-inch tires and unique wheel, grille and bumper appliqués

•Limited-edition Islander and Mountain packages available on two-door Jeep Wrangler and four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4x4 models

The new 2010 Jeep Liberty Renegade boasts a new premium, rugged appear-ance with standard class-leading capa-bility features, while the Jeep Wrangler

lineup is expanded with unique limited-edition models – Jeep Wrangler Islander and Jeep Wrangler Mountain – that deliv-er high-impact visual appeal with outdoor fun-and-freedom themes.

“While clearly appealing to our core customers, these three new Jeep models will attract new customers to the Jeep dealer showroom,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “The new Liberty Renegade delivers renowned Jeep capability and an array of standard features in a stun-ning new rugged, premium design, while both Wrangler models expand the iconic anchor of the Jeep brand with unique, limited-edition versions that consumers have told us they want.”

The new Jeep Liberty Renegade and Jeep Wrangler Islander edition are now available in Jeep showrooms. The Jeep Wrangler Mountain edition will be avail-able in the second quarter of 2010.

Jeep Liberty Renegade

The “Renegade” name returns to the Jeep lineup for 2010. First used in 1964 on the inside door opening of the Jeep Wagoneer, the Renegade has always rep-resented the rebellious heart and soul of the Jeep brand.

Positioned between Liberty’s Sport and Limited models, the new Jeep Liberty Renegade expands the Jeep Liberty line-up, delivering renowned capability – high-lighted by Jeep’s Selec-Trac® II full-time, shift-on-the-fly, active four-wheel-drive system – in a unique, premium and rug-ged new design.

Jeep Liberty Renegade is offered in a new, Renegade-exclusive Salsa Red Pearl Coat exterior, as well as Natural Green Pearl Coat, Deep Water Blue Pearl Coat, Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat and Stone White Clear Coat.

Standard Liberty Renegade exterior features include painted Mineral Gray Keystone 16-inch wheels that wear new, rugged all-terrain P235/70R16 outline white letter (OWL); dark neutral metallic wheel flares, lower side sills, front and rear fascia, body side moldings and rear license plate bar; black headlamp bezel; Argent Silver accent on the lower fascia

appliqué and roof rack; Satin Black vinyl hood graphics; deep-tint glass; fog lamps; skid plates and tow hooks.

Ins ide , s tandard appointments include new premium cloth seats; leath-er-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, instrument panel grab handle and park-brake boot; new driftwood accent bezels; leather-wrapped center console and soft-door armrests; premium Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC); cruise control; security alarm; rear cargo cover and steering-wheel-mounted radio con-trols.

Jeep Liberty Renegade’s standard Selec-Trac II active four-wheel-drive sys-tem offers customers the benefit of a fully electronic two-speed active transfer case and Brake-traction Control System (BTCS). It instantly anticipates wheel slip and redirects torque accordingly, which is ideal for off-roading or when driving in inclement weather.

This premium system offers a “4WD Auto” mode that is ideal for full-time driv-ing. When in 4WD Auto mode, the system uses vehicle sensors to adjust and redi-rect torque between front and rear axles based on real-time driving conditions, providing the vehicle with responsive tractive performance.

For added capability when traversing steep grades, rough terrain or extremely poor traction surfaces, the transfer case includes a “4WD Low” mode. This sec-ond-speed gear multiplies engine torque 2.72 times and locks the clutch pack for maximum traction.

Electric shifting between 2WD, 4WD Auto and 4WD Low is accomplished with a console-mounted switch. A push-pin button is used to shift to Neutral mode.

A 3.7-liter V-6 engine is standard on all Jeep Liberty models, including the new Renegade. The 3.7-liter engine pro-duces 210 horsepower (157 kW) @ 5,200

rpm and 235 lb.-ft. (319 N•m) of torque @ 4,000 rpm.

All Jeep Liberty models offer custom-ers an “only-in-a-Jeep” open-air experi-ence, courtesy of Jeep’s industry-exclu-sive Sky Slider™ full-length open-canvas roof.

Jeep Wrangler Islander

After more than 20 years, the unique Islander theme returns to Jeep.

The limited-edition Jeep Wrangler Islander is available on Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited 4x4 models. Based on the Wrangler Sport model, the Islander’s unique beach theme conveys open-air fun at first and every glance.

Jeep Wrangler Islander is featured in unique Surf Blue Pearl Coat, and is also available in Stone White Clear Coat, Bright Sliver Metallic Clear Coat and Brilliant Black Crystal Clear Coat.

Other exterior features include an Islander “Jeep Tiki” decal on the hood with latitude and longitude coordinates that represent an actual location relating to the “Islander” theme of the vehicle, black side steps and popular Moab 17-inch wheels shod with 32-inch tires.

Inside, Islander’s seats are Dark Gray with Surf Blue inserts, blue stitching and an embroidered Islander “Jeep Tiki” logo adorning the seat back. Blue stitching also has been added to the leather-wrapped steering wheel, with Mopar® rubber floor mats completing the beach theme.

T h e J e e p Wr a n g l e r I s l a n d e r option package is available at a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,120.

Jeep Wrangler Mountain

Further expanding the iconic Wrangler brand’s reach, Jeep delivers another high-impact, limited-edition model with the Jeep Wrangler Mountain edition.

The Jeep Wrangler Mountain edition is based on the Wrangler Sport S package, and is available on Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited 4x4 models.

Exterior features include a unique “Mountain” decal on the hood with lati-tude and longitude coordinates that rep-resent an actual location relating to the “Mountain” theme of the vehicle; painted high-gloss Mineral Gray 17-inch Moab wheels, grille and bumper appliqués; tubular side steps; 32-inch tires; black tail lamp guards; and a fuel-filler door from Mopar.

Cadillac launches two vehi-cles for 2010 that add new dimensions to the luxury marketplace, while fea-

turing Cadillac’s signatures of dramatic design and technology. The completely new SRX crossover enters one of the lux-ury market’s largest and strongest seg-ments, offering a more dynamic alterna-tive. The CTS Sport Wagon is also new for 2010, expanding the CTS lineup with a cutting-edge design and much more space and utility than its sedan counterpart.

The completely redesigned SRX has a dramatic design inside and out, with more efficient engine choices offered on a new luxury crossover architecture. The midsize SRX’s advanced V-6 engines are the smallest-displacement engines Cadillac offers in North America. A new, 3.0L direct injected V-6 engine is stan-dard and a new, 2.8L tur-bocharged V-6 is optional. Both employ advanced technology that helps pro-duce strong performance that is typical of larger-dis-placement engines, but with greater fuel economy and lower emissions.

The new SRX is aimed at bringing more emotion to the previously conservative luxury crossover category, which now accounts for nearly a quarter of the total luxury market in the United States. An advanced all-wheel-drive system created for the new SRX transfers torque front-to-back and also laterally on the rear axle for superior traction and control on slippery surfaces, and responsive handling on dry pavement.

The CTS Sport Wagon is Cadillac’s first-ever North American

wagon. It is a progressive take on the classic wagon body style that delivers signif icant functionality and fuel efficiency, including up to an estimated 28 mpg highway. Essentially the same size as the acclaimed CTS sport sedan on the outside, it nearly doubles cargo carrying capacity, with 25 cubic feet (720 liters) of space behind the rear seats and 53.4 cubic feet (1,523 liters) with the rear seat folded.

New additions for 2010 are:

•All-new efficient and powerful LR-V8 engines.

•5.0-liter V8 naturally aspirated – 375 bhp and 375 lb/ft torque.

•Striking exterior design changes cre-ate a more stylish and sporting look.

•Redesigned interior bringing new lev-els of refinement and craftsmanship.

•Steering wheel with paddle-shift gear change on Supercharged model.

•Chassis refinements including active

damping, new brakes and updates to the Terrain ResponseTM system, bringing even greater breadth of capability.

•Cutting edge technologies including available surround camera system with tow assist, and a high beam assist option.

“The Range Rover Sport’s perfor-mance, ride and handling have been transformed with the introduction of new engines, transmission and chassis systems. Combine these enhancements with the contemporary style and luxury of the revised interior, and it's clear that the Range Rover Sport remains the only choice as the quintessential SUV sports tourer,” says Phil Popham, Land Rover Managing Director.

The Range Rover Sport reaffirms its status as the most exciting and dynamic member of the Land Rover range with a comprehensive package of engineering and design changes for the 2010 model year. The vehicle’s stylish new appear-ance signals the transformation under the skin, which includes two powerful and efficient new engines - the LR-V8

naturally aspirated and LR-V8 5.0-liter Supercharged, enhanced levels of inte-rior craftsmanship and refinement, and significant improvements to both on-road and off-road driving dynamics.

A comprehensive program of chassis system modifications has transformed the Range Rover Sport’s on-road dynam-ics, while also delivering a substantial improvement in its off-road capabilities.

The introduction of new systems such as Adaptive Dynamics, working in con-junction with existing Dynamic Response on Supercharged models, and the addition of the road-focused Dynamic program to the Terrain ResponseTM system help enhance agility and ride quality. Further improvements to the Terrain ResponseTM system ensure that off-road capability is kept at the expected class-leading level.

The Range Rover Sport’s stylish, muscular exterior has been updated to provide a cleaner, more sculpted feel. Striking signature LED headlamps combine with a new two-bar grille, front bumpers and fenders to create a more

Unrivalled Capability and Dynamics from the 2010 Range Rover Sport

sporting and aerodynamic stance. At the rear, new light clusters and a revised bumper design mirror the smoother front-end.

The interior has been comprehensively redesigned, using higher quality materials, soft-touch finishes and superior crafts-manship to create a premium environment which is truly worthy of the Range Rover brand.

New Engines Deliver Exceptional Performance and Refinement

The most significant changes on the 2010 Range Rover Sport are to its powertrains. The vehicle benefits from two powerful new engines: 510bhp LR-V8 5.0-liter supercharged and a 375bhp LR-V8 5.0 liter naturally aspirated engine.

The LR-V8 engines are all-new and designed by the Jaguar Land Rover powertrain team using an impressive collection of state-of-the-art technologies. They were developed with an emphasis on delivering a smooth, refined and responsive perfor-mance, without a corresponding increase in fuel consumption. Both meet the stringent ULEV2 emissions standards.

“We have given the Range Rover Sport two truly state-of-the-art new powertrains. Each engine – whether supercharged or naturally aspirated – delivers outstanding performance and refinement.” -- Ron Lee, Group Chief Engineer, Powertrain.

The performance of the all-new naturally aspirated LR-V8 is now a virtual-match for the outgoing 4.2L supercharged engine The new, naturally-aspirated vehicle completes the 0-60 mph sprint in 7.2 seconds (just 0.1 seconds off the pace of the outgo-ing supercharged unit). For those who want the ultimate per-formance Range Rover Sport, there is now the all-new LR-V8 5.0L Supercharged, which is propelled from rest to 60 mph in an impressive 5.9 seconds.

The engines were developed in conjunction with Jaguar - the first time engines have been designed from the outset with the requirements of both brands in mind. Shared primary objectives included the highest possible torque and fast response from low revs.

Although the basic engine architecture is the same for each brand, Land Rover engine requirements differ to satisfy demand-ing all-terrain needs. For example, they feature a deeper sump to accommodate the extreme tilting angles that Range Rover Sport may be subjected to off-road. In addition, belt drives are waterproofed, as are the alternator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump and starter motor.

overall length of 178.3 inches, an overall width of 69.9 inches and overall height of 57.5 inches, Forte offers comfortable seating for up to five passengers. The Kia-engineered body achieves high tor-sional stiffness giving Forte taut, respon-sive handling, a smoother ride quality and greater refinement than its competitors, with a specially tuned, Kia-developed sus-pension adjusted perfectly for responsive handling on S-turn laden roads. Additional refinements are fitted throughout Forte to help ensure a comfortable ride with good noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) reduction qualities.

Forte’s front-wheel-drive unibody structure employs an independent front suspension with MacPherson struts and a stabilizer bar and a torsion beam rear suspension with struts and coil springs. This combination helps provide the opti-mal balance of handling and comfort. An engine-speed-sensitive, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system adds the finishing touch for precise handling by providing the most advantageous amount of assist for varying road conditions. In

keeping with the energetic essence of the SX model line, a performance-tuned suspension gives the chassis a firmer feel and responsiveness resulting in a more spirited ride. The SX model also features larger front brakes for improved stopping capabilities.

Modern and High-Tech InteriorWith one of the roomiest interiors in

the segment, Forte boasts a spacious 96.8 cubic feet of passenger volume, while driver and passengers have an impres-sive 40.0 inches of headroom and 43.3 inches of legroom in the front seats and 37.8 inches of headroom and 35.0 inches of legroom in the rear seats. Forte’s trunk also offers a best-in-class 14.7 cubic feet of cargo space, perfect for luggage and weekend getaways or around-town gro-cery shopping.

Capitalizing on its spacious interior, Forte makes every effort to incorporate style and function, starting with a crisp, high-visibility center stack and a driver-oriented three-gauge instrument cluster exuding a stylish red glow. Forte contin-ues to pamper its riders with a host of interior features, starting with comfort-able, nicely appointed full cloth seats. A six-way adjustable driver’s seat, tilt steer-ing column, rear defroster and dual 12-volt power outlets in the center console are driver- and passenger-conscious luxu-ries standard on every vehicle.

The SX features an upgraded 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine, also with CVVT, which delivers 173 horsepower² – more power-ful and with better fuel economy than the Mazda3s and Corolla XRS.

Four transmission options are offered for the 2010 Forte: a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional elec-tronically controlled four-speed automat-ic transmission (LX and EX models). The SX model features a standard six-speed manual transmission and an optional five-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic™.

Offering impressive fuel economy, the 2.0-liter engine offers a competitive 25/34 mpg (city/highway) when mated to either

the five-speed manual or four-speed auto-matic transmissions, while the 2.4-liter engine turns out a notable 22/32 mpg when paired with the six-speed manual and 23/31 with the five-speed automatic.

The optional Fuel Economy Package, available on the EX model with the 2.0-liter powerplant, includes the five-speed automatic transmission, Motor Drive Power Steering (MDPS), “smart” alterna-tor, silica tires and aero enhancements. These improvements result in 27/36 mpg and a class-leading combined fuel econo-my of 30 mpg.

Industry-Leading WarrantyLike all Kia models, Forte is covered

by a comprehensive warranty program, which offers unprecedented consumer protection. Included in this program are a 10-year or 100,000-mile limited power-train warranty, a five-year or 60,000-mile limited basic warranty, and a five-year or 100,000-mile anti-perforation warranty. A five-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance plan is also part of the comprehensive coverage program.

2010 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF: Simply Put – the Best Golf of all Times that once again sets New Standards for its Class

For 2010, the venerable Volkswagen Golf is ready to stand out yet again—sporting fresh, dynamic styl-ing inside and out. The Golf, now in its sixth gener-ation, will be available with the highly anticipated,

athletic yet extremely fuel efficient, TDI clean diesel engine. Available in both two and four-door models, the new Golf car-ries the Volkswagen brand heritage into overdrive with proven, German-engineered performance and refinement at affordable starting prices. The new Golf starts at $17,490 for the two-door model, and $19,190 for the four-door version. Several options are available to make the 2010 Golf a perfect choice for those con-sumers who demand a compact car that is equipped to not only be functional when called upon, but also looks, drives, and feels fun at the same time.

Having already been honored as the “World Car of the Year,” the latest generation Golf promises more vigor, better usability and the best fuel economy of any Golf to date.

ExteriorFrom the first glance, the 2010 Golf proudly shows off the new

“face” of the Volkswagen brand with an all-new front end design that includes a wider, double bar grille that blends into angled halogen headlamps for a sportier visage (High Intensity Gas-discharged Xenon headlamps are available as an option on the TDI model). The body-colored bumper sits above a revised lower front fascia featuring a wide-mouthed cooling duct. Crystalline oval fog lamps complete the front fascia on TDI models. These elements, combined with the Golf’s wider appearance give the hatchback a more commanding road presence.

Black window trim and the absence of side moldings keep things simple along the sides, for a cleaner look that remains pleasing to the eye. Heading to the rear, a hatch spoiler with integrated third brake light sits atop the hatch and is painted to match the rest of the body while touching on the Golf’s sporty capabilities. Updated taillights mimic their counterparts from up front, and feature integrated clear turn signal and reverse indica-tors along the bottom edge.

Running lights are blended into the lower rear bumper which adds a blacked out insert and a cutout for a pair of exhaust tips.

Engine and TransmissionThe 2010 Golf will be available with the choice of two engines,

customers can choose a 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder gasoline engine, or the 50-state compliant, 2.0-liter four-cylinder clean diesel TDI engine.

The standard 2.5L engine puts out a very usable 170 horsepow-er at 5,700 rpm, and a potent 177 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm. The 2.5L features an aluminum alloy cross flow head with four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshafts, maintenance-free hydraulic lifters, and Motronic® sequential multi-port fuel injection.

A five-speed manual transmission comes standard on the two-door model, and a six-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic® control is standard on the four-door, which allows drivers to shift manually with an up or down push of the gear lever. The manual transmission with the 2.5L engine results in a quick zero to 60 mph time of 7.8 seconds, and rewards drivers with a return of 22 mpg in the city, and 30 mpg on the highway. Drivers who option their Golf with the six-speed automatic transmission can enjoy 23 mpg in city driving and 30 mpg for highway travel, and an 8.1 second run to 60 mph from a standstill.

For drivers that desire a fuel-sipping compact that emits 25 per-cent less greenhouse gas and achieves more than 30 percent better fuel economy compared to a similar gasoline engine, the 2010 Golf equipped with the 2.0L clean diesel TDI engine is more than up to the task. Available in both two-door and four-door models, the Golf TDI is marked by its fusion of German-tuned performance and impressive fuel economy – compliments of an advanced electroni-cally-controlled turbocharger and the electronically-controlled direct injection fuel system. The valve train consists of a single overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder and maintenance-free hydraulic lifters for added piece of mind. All combined, the 2.0L powerhouse produces 140 horsepower at 4,000 rpm, and an impressive 236 lbs.-ft. of torque between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm.

CarsTo deliver all that power to the road smoothly, a traditional

six-speed manual transmission comes standard on the clean diesel TDI, and is good for an EPA-estimated 30 mpg during city travel, 41 mpg on the highway, and zero to 60 mph time of 8.6 seconds. Drivers can also go for the optional six-speed automatic Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG®) transmission with Tiptronic, and have the performance of a manual gearbox with the effortless precision of an automatic transmission. The DSG uses an auto-mated dual-clutch system that instantly engages and disengages gears without the need for a driver-activated clutch pedal. A computer engages one clutch on the next gear needed, just as the clutch from the previous gear is released. Each resulting shift is quick yet smooth, and lacks the power loss that occurs when using a traditional manual transmission. Tiptronic mode stops the transmission’s automated shifting and instead lets the driver control gear changes by either tapping the gearshift lever up or down, or using the shift paddles mounted to the steering wheel. With the DSG transmission, the Golf clean diesel TDI models provide 30 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway, as well as an 8.6 second sprint from zero to 60 mph.

Chassis and SuspensionThe new Golf yearns to be driven and inspires drivers with

the confidence to do so with the utmost of ease and comfort, whether cruising along the highways, or taking on the twists and turns of country roads. At its core is a laser welded unibody con-struction that remains stiff and helps keep everything in line as the Golf zips along. At the front, a fully independent suspension with McPherson struts and an anti-roll bar comes standard on the 2.5L models, while the TDI models include an updated sport suspension for improved road-hugging dynamics. Moving to the rear, a fully independent four-link arrangement with coil springs, telescopic shocks and another stabilizer bar keep the Golf agile yet rider-friendly in most any driving situation.

Steering is enhanced with an electro-mechanical, variably-assisted, power rack-and-pinion system that, when combined with a quick ratio, gives an unprecedented level of control and accuracy in the corners and out on the straights. Bringing the Golf to a halt are power assisted four wheel disc brakes, with vented rotors at the front and solid rotors at the rear and the safety of an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The advanced brak-ing system works seamlessly with the car’s Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) that includes a collection of traction and safety features such as Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), and Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD).

InteriorOn the inside, the latest Golf carries its refinement through-

out with a variety of stylish additions that will aim to keep drivers and passengers comfortable and pleased. All models start out with eight-way manually adjustable sports seats at the front, which include two-way adjustable lumbar support, and adjustable head restraints. The rear seats include adjustable head restraints for all seating positions, a center armrest, and have 60/40 split folding capability for maximizing cargo space when needed. Both the front and rear seats come standard with Volkswagen’s “Me2” cloth fabric. Heated seats are available as an option on all 2010 Golf models with the cold weather package, which also adds convenient heated windshield washer nozzles. At the helm, the updated three-spoke steering wheel features an embossed center section, and is upgraded to a leather-wrapped version with multifunction controls on TDI models.

Brushed metallic appearance trim inserts are standard on the dash and in the door panels of all Golf models, and accent the

redesigned instrument panel and center console. Chrome trim surrounds the tachometer on the left side, which incorporates an integrated temperature gauge, and the speedometer on the right, has an integrated fuel gauge. Located between the black analog gauges is a multi-function onboard computer display that provides the driver with key information regarding the selected gear, fuel mileage, odometer, and more.

Up top, a full power sunroof can be ordered on all Golf mod-els. The HVAC system controls are handled by a more ergonomic arrangement of knobs and buttons versus the more traditional dial and button layout, complimenting the different stereo and navigation systems available. Standard on the 2.5L models is an eight-speaker AM/FM radio system with single-disc CD player, MP3 CD readability, and an auxiliary input jack for connecting portable media players. All TDI models come standard with a touch-screen 8-speaker sound system featuring an AM/FM/Sirius™ satellite radio, in-dash six-disc CD changer with MP3 CD readability, theft deterrence, and an auxiliary input jack.

Mobile Device Interface (MDI) is also standard with the TDI model. For audiophiles, the crystal clear 300W Dynaudio Lite premium sound system is available as an option for TDI models, while Bluetooth™ connectivity, for hands-free calling with a paired mobile phone, is an option on all 2010 Golf models.

The Golf TDI can be ordered with the new touch-screen navi-gation systemwith a 6.5” high resolution display, integrated 30GB hard drive (10GB for navigation, 20GB for audio), WMA / MP3 audio CD playback, DVD playback, an SD memory card slot and a 3.5mm auxiliary input jack in the center console. The system provides both visual and audible commands through the cen-ter console display, as well as the digital display located in the instrument cluster.

B eing in business since 1974, Tanner 4X4 is truly one of the oldest and most repu-table 4-wheel drive centers in the country. They have

been in business much longer than many of the “K-mart”-style 4X4 “big boy” shops, and provide a variety of services that can-not always be found elsewhere.

In the past 36 years, Tanner 4X4 has learned that customer service is the cor-nerstone to a good business along with the ability to lead the industry rather than follow. Most businesses strive to better themselves in the areas of service, prod-ucts, and designs. Tanner takes pride in being the shop that many model their company after. From the cutting-edge products that they manufacture (such as custom suspension systems for virtually any vehicle) to the beautifully-designed, turn-key rock crawlers and desert rigs, Tanner 4X4 leads the pack.

Tanner 4X4 is an original “hardcore” company known to be “extreme” before extreme was cool. The foundation of Tanner was built on the hunter, fisher-man, camper, and casual off-roader. It was for this reason that most of their services and products were designed to help the outdoor recreational 4-wheelers get where they wanted to be easier and more enjoyably. Tanner products such as bumpers, nerf bars, safari racks, and

tire carriers were designed to help fami-lies get back to their favorite campsights without tearing up their trucks.

The “hardcore” and “extreme” side of Tanner has always been present with their custom-built suspensions, cages, and tube chassis’ dating back to the early 1970s when Colorado Springs was still young and wild, and off-road racing was still largely unregulated and afford-able. On most weekends, you could find Tanner 4X4 employees out banging around Indian Springs desert race track in their old Broncos and Scouts. Some of the technology from those days is still applied to cages and chassis’ today. The “Rocky Mountain Extreme” phrase is not just for professional crawlers. Tanner has been at the front of almost all off-roading disciplines: mud racing, truck pulls, Tuff trucks, stadium racing, rock crawling, and rock racing – they have done it all and done it to win!

Tanner 4X4 is well-known throughout the industry as one of the finest fabrica-tion and design facilities in the country for off-road specific vehicles. Their cus-tom tube work on crawlers and racers, as well as mid-sized custom hunting bug-gies, is some of the best seen anywhere in the world. However, the locals will tell you that Tanner is best-known for the great customer service and huge variety of parts and equipment they stock.

Tanner carries more products than just about anyone! From power programmers to bolt-on suspension systems, tires, wheels, lockers, and gears, they do it all and they do it right. Now, as in the past 36 years, Tanner 4X4 has knowledgeable, professional sales people waiting to offer telephone assistance. They have all the information customers need and, in the rare case that they don’t, they know how to find it. For more than three decades, customer service is still the recipe for success at Tanner 4X4! SG

American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day® 2010

On June 5, 2010, American Hiking Society and outdoor enthusiasts across the country will celebrate the 18th annual National Trails Day® (NTD), a long-standing celebration of America's magnificent trail system and its countless supporters and volunteers. More

than 1,500 events will take place around the country including trail maintenance, hiking, paddling, biking, horseback riding, bird watching, running and trail celebrations.

Where do you go to find peace and quiet and make your troubles melt away? Do you bike to a historic site on a rail trail? Or hike to a mountain vista? Maybe you paddle to a swimming hole or walk in your local park? The theme for NTD 2010, Find Your Happy Place ☺, encourages all Americans to get outside, connect with local hiking clubs, outdoor retail-ers, local parks and recreation departments or federal land managing agencies to experience, appreciate and celebrate the outdoor places that make us happy. "Whether you’re an avid outdoor adventure seeker or new to our nation’s network of trails, American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day con-nects children and adults with nature so all may experience the joy and happiness that the outdoors elicits in each of us,” said Greg Miller, American Hiking Society president.

Since 1993, National Trails Day has inspired thousands of individuals and community groups to take part in activities that promote healthy living and mental well being, protect green space, educate youth and adults on the importance of trails, and instill excitement for the outdoors. Plan now to host or attend an event in your area. Help others experience the joy of the outdoors. Find Your Happy Place ☺ on Saturday, June 5th!

Join American Hiking Society and our sponsors, Nature Valley, AccuTerra by Intermap, Backpacker Magazine, Columbia, Fetzer Vineyards and Merrell, and partners REI, YMCA of the USA, and American Park Network for a National Trails Day event near you. If your community organization would like to host an event or to find out more about NTD 2010, contact Heather Sable, Trail Programs Manager, at [email protected] or (800) 972-8608 x 208 or visit www.AmericanHiking.org.

The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds Encourages its Members to Step up their Adoption of Green Practices

Since the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds launched its “Plan it Green” program three years ago, more than 100 campgrounds and RV resorts across the country have made a formal pledge to adopt environmen-tally friendly practices, while informing their guests of the benefits of doing the same.

But in an effort to encourage even more parks to par-ticipate in the program – and to adopt a greater number of green practices – the Larkspur, Colo.-based campground association has partnered with the Woodall’s North American Campground Directory to formally recognize qualifying parks with a “Green Friendly” icon next to their listings in the GoCampingAmerica.com and Woodalls.com travel planning websites as well as the 2011 print edition of the Woodall’s directory.

“Some parks have adopted environmentally friendly prac-tices on their own initiative, but many are pledging to adopt green building and recycling programs with encouragement

from our association,” said Linda Profaizer, president and CEO of the Larkspur, Colo.-based campground association, which currently recognizes green parks with a “Plan it Green” logo on their GoCampingAmerica.com listing. The association also holds an annual awards competition for green parks.

Profaizer said campgrounds are a natural fit for environmen-tally friendly initiatives, since most parks are located in scenic locations that encourage enjoyment of nature and the outdoors.

While parks that participate in the “Plan it Green” program are required to adopt a minimum of three eco-friendly prac-tices, such as offering recycling programs for their guests, planting trees to offset carbon emissions or avoiding the use of chemicals that are harmful to the environment, parks that want to be designated “Green Friendly” through the association’s partnership with Woodall’s must have at least nine of the fol-lowing 18 criteria:

• Tankless water heaters.• Motion sensors for lighting in bathrooms and clubhouses.• Energy efficient light bulbs.• Non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning products.• Water saving showerheads and/or faucets with automatic shutoff taps.• Recycle bins for cans, paper, glass and plastic.• Energy saving appliances.• Eco-friendly and “Leave No Trace” tips and education for guests.

• Landscaping that uses wood chip, pebble, paved or grass paths to decrease soil erosion.• “Reduce Water Usage” signage for guests around the park.• One or more of the following: lighting, heaters and/or coolers with timers.• Solar or wind power.• Low flush toilets or waterless urinals.• Grey water access (if allowed in state).• On-site organic composting.• Email confirmations rather than paper to minimize paper waste.• Geothermal heating and cooling.• A program for frequent tree planting.

“The list of 18 criteria may seem extensive, but several parks are already meeting most of these criteria,” Profaizer said.

For additional commentary regarding the “Plan it Green” program as well as information involving the latest trends in campgrounds and RV resorts or for leads on parks in your news coverage area, please contact Linda Profaizer at the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds at (303) 681-0401 and visit the association’s newly revised web site at www.GoCampingAmerica.com. THE WAIT IS OVERelcome to the wonderful world of the DiabloSport Trinity. The DiabloSport Trinity is, simply put,

one of the most advanced tuning devic-es in the market. With the capability to tune, log and record data, display and customize virtual gauges, read and clear trouble codes, and even compute mul-tiple track times, the DiabloSport Trinity is the answer to all of your EFI tuning needs. Trinity supports all vehicle appli-cations under a single part number which means you have the option to tune mul-tiple vehicles with only one Trinity (only one vehicle can be tuned at any given time). DiabloSport also offers free online updates for the life of the product, so if there is ever an update to the Trinity (new vehicles, new calibrations, new tunes, etc.) you can always download it from the web for free. With a high resolution color touch screen, state-of- the-art graphics/GUI, and the ability to customize gauge layouts, the Trinity enhances the inte-rior of any vehicle. The Trinity also has the capability to control/communicate external devices such as the DiabloSport Extreme PowerPuck, DiabloSport EGT Module, and other third party analog devices.

Let’s start out by explaining the physi-cal properties of the Trinity.

Knowing Your Trinity1. The Trinity’s touch Screen: All of

your functions will be accessible from the Trinity’s touch screen. While the Trinity also has physical buttons on it, you will find it is just as easy to touch your screen as it will be to touch the buttons.

2. Mini USB connection to update your Trinity: This port will also power it at your desk!

3. Trinity OBD II Connector: This allows you to hook the Trinity to your vehicle for tuning and diagnostic func-tions.

4. Trinity Analog I/O: For using after-market sensors such as wide band 02 or EGT in conjunction with your Trinity.

5. SD Card Slot: Support for SD cards allows users to have extra data on their Trinity, to load files to and from the Trinity, or put updates on it!

6. Trinity Buttons: With the Trinity fac-ing the direction in the picture above, the round circle of buttons on the right are names as follows: Up, Down, Left, Right respectively, and then enter in the center. These buttons can be used instead of the touch screen to navigate through menus and select functions.

7. Screen buttons 1 and 2: The screen buttons allow you to quickly enter menu functions such as “back” or “edit” when prompted on the screen. Button one is the button on top, button two is on the bottom.

8. Digital L.E.D.s: These programmable LEDs are designed for use with the vir-tual tree function, or as a shift light/gauge alarm. These lights can be turned on and off in the options menu. SG

Arrowdynamic Solutions® Introduces New Radian™ Broadhead

Arrowdynamic Solutions® has quickly earned its reputation for unique, innovative and lethal broadhead solutions with the introduction of its Atom™ and Guillotine™ broadheads. And in 2010, the company has embarked on its latest adventure in broadhead excellence with its all-new Radian™ broadhead — an industry first to feature scalpel sharp blades with independent compressibility.

The concept of compressible cutting width technology was first born with the engineering and design of the Atom broadhead — turning the most basic elements of physics into a bowhunter’s incredibly accurate and lethal shot. And now, the company has taken this successful technology and blended it with a razor sharp, super strong cutting width broadhead that delivers supe-rior penetration no fixed blade design or mechanical broadhead can match.

No matter how big the animal or thick the hide, the Radian broadhead will make a clean pass through without picking up tissue along the way. It features two blades which pivot around a center axis as well as hind springs that hold the blades in. Each blade boasts a cutting width of 1 ½” and has the ability to inde-pendently compress the broadhead (reducing the length to width ratio) as it enters heavy bone. Then, after passing thru, the blades spring back into place in order to cut through soft tissue vitals.

Each incredibly strong blade is .039” thick, so you are essen-tially shooting butcher knives! Plus, adding to the Radian broad-head’s stealth and precision is its unique fluted tip, which ensures maximum damage and bone-crushing penetration upon impact. The broadhead also features incredible structural durabily via its 7075 T6 aluminum body and its case hardened steel tip (for the 125 grain), and a solid titanium tip (for the 100 grain).

Like many Arrowdynamic Solutions’ unique broadheads (and unlike any fixed or mechanical blade on the market), the Radian is field point accurate! Thus, when in flight at any speed it will retain an identical impact point to that of your field point. A claim that many broadhead manufacturers make, but don’t deliver.

Superchips Announces Release of Three Downloadable Advanced Tuner ‘Apps’

Superchips continues to lead the charge with vehicle tuning innovations that matter for consumers. Superchips announces their tuners are now enabled to handle software applications, commonly known as ‘apps’. Three vehicle tuning software appli-cations are now available, the first of many advanced tuning apps available via Superchips internet update.

Superchips current generation of tuners, five-button Flashpaq and Cortex, were originally designed with software app capabil-ity in mind making it possible for customers to take advantage of new technology advances. The development of new apps is ongoing and will be available to customers via download to their Superchips tuner allowing for a personalized vehicle experi-ence. Applications range from GO-2 Tuning with the capability to tune more than one vehicle at a time to Cold Air Intake Tuning engineered specifically to optimize the performance calibrations together with the CAI kit and vehicle.

Current applications available are the Superchips exclusive GO-2 Tuning Application, Cold Air Intake Tuning for popular Ford and GM models (more vehicles coming soon), and Data Acquisition Application. To get any of the applications a cus-tomer has to update their Flashpaq or Cortex using Superchips Internet Update software. Apps are available for a nominal fee using Superchips Internet Update computer program. Application pricing varies depending on the features and functions of the app. Many popular apps like data acquisition are available free of charge.

GO-2 Tuning AppSuperchips GO-2 Tuning Application for Flashpaq and Cortex

is a response to numerous customer requests. There are no other products on the market today with this capability. GO-2 allows a customer to tune two vehicles at the same time letting their existing tuner do all the programming of both vehicles in the driveway. The application works whether both vehicles are gas, diesel or one of each. Currently the application is available for Ford and GM and both vehicles must be from the same OEM family. Superchips is working on new vehicle applications and coverage capability for the in-demand application. GO-2 is currently available for only $199 saving between 40 - 50% off the price of the second tuner.

Cold Air Intake AppSuperchips Cold Air Intake tuning addresses the compat-

ibility issues of adding a Cold Air Intake to today’s late-model vehicles. Pricing varies based on the exact vehicle, CAI design, and the sophistication of the tuning for the CAI installed. Typical CAI problems without CAI tuning include poor drivabil-ity, loss of power, poor fuel economy, idle surge, and the check

engine light illumination. Superchips CAI tuning will optimize the driving performance for the vehicle and CAI (as a system), and in most instances add significant horsepower and torque. Current CAI manufacturers covered by Superchips tuning include Airaid, K&N, AEM, Steeda, BBK, C&L, MMR, JLT, Demolet and S&B. More CAI kit calibrations are being added on a regular basis.

Data Acquisition AppBasic Data Acquisition provides a tuner with data logging

capabilities including: timed runs, 0 to 40 through 0 to 70 MPH, last run history, best speed and times history, and 60 foot through ¼ mile logging. Advanced Data Acquisition provides OBD-II PID (Parameter ID) display support including: air and fuel data, Mass Air Flow rates and temperature, ignition timing, injector fuel rates, direct sensor information, diagnose faulty sensor, monitor fluid temperatures, view powertrain data, engine and transmis-sion sensor data. Both data acquisition software is FREE to download.

The advantages to the customer are endless, from vehicle performance to advanced vehicle data collection. Tom Bennett, Superchips President explains, “Superchips has always posi-tioned itself as the company that lets you the consumer tune your vehicle for how you want to use it whether it is track speed, towing or off-road use. The next evolution of that philosophy is personal use applications. The automotive tuner is finally per-sonal.”

Superchips has the number one engine and model coverage in the industry offering a complete line of hand-held programmers for most late-model cars, trucks, and SUVs including: Ford, GM, Chrysler/Dodge, Nissan/Infiniti and Jeep. All Superchips pro-grammers are available for purchase in retail stores and online wherever automotive performance products and accessories are sold.

Gear Up for the 2010 Trout Season with Deluxe Little Cleo® KitSix Pack of Trophy Trout Spoons Hand Selected By Experts at Acme® Tackle Company

By bringing together six Acme 1/8-oz. Little Cleo® Spoons in the most effective and versatile trout producing colors coast to coast, Acme® Tackle Company has taken the guesswork out of gearing up for the 2010 trout season.

Acme’s Deluxe Little Cleo Kit (#KT-35) gives anglers all the ammo they need to catch big rainbows, browns and brookies in a wide variety of waters and under a range of conditions — all in a handy resealable plastic case. The 1/8-oz. size of this popular spoon is ideal for light-tackle trolling or casting with ultra light gear when trout get finicky (such as in gin-clear lakes or shal-low mountain streams). Despite its diminutive size, the unique hump-backed shape of the 1/8-oz. Acme Little Cleo provides a full-bodied profile that helps create the illusion of a fat baitfish.

This is one reason why the largest trout — those on the hunt for a real mouthful — zero in on and attack this popular metal lure.

Another big reason for Little Cleo’s success is its enticing, erratic action. With its wide, deeply curved body, this spoon exhibits an exaggerated wobbling action that triggers the preda-tory instincts of trout and other freshwater gamefish. This action doesn’t diminish even at ultra-slow retrieve or trolling speeds, making it perfect for times when trout are a little sluggish or extra wary. Sometimes a slow, stop-and-go retrieve with a Little Cleo is more than even the toughest-to-fool trout can resist, get-ting bit when other baits and lures are getting blanked.

With these six Acme Little Cleo colors, trout anglers will be ready for success in any situation. Life-like Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout finished Little Cleos are perfect in waters where big adult trout feast on fry and fingerlings. Acme’s brightly colored Chartreuse/Orange and Fire Tiger Little Cleo spoons are a great choice when lake water is stained or creeks are running high and muddy. This kit also includes Acme Little Cleo spoons in Frog and Candy, two of the most successful lure colors ever created for taking trophy trout on the troll. And because Acme uses the highest quality painted finishes, stainless split rings and needle sharp treble hooks, these Little Cleos will keep on catching trout season after season.

To learn more about arming yourself with the Acme Deluxe Little Cleo Kit this trout season — or the company’s full line of fish-catching metal lures for fresh and saltwater angling — visit www.acmetackle.com.

Wiley X® Eyewear Keeps America’s Best Anglers on the Fish and Ahead of the Pack in 2010In Freshwater or Salt, Top Fishing Pros See Their Way to Success With Wiley X

Selecting the right vision protection is just as critical as choos-ing the right lure, line, rod/reel system or presentation. This is why the members of the elite 2010 Wiley X® Eyewear Fishing Team turn to the only premium performance sunglass company whose full line meets the ANSI Z87.1-2003 certification for safety. World-class anglers like 2009 Bassmaster Classic champion Skeet Reese, 2007 Classic winner Boyd Duckett or 2010 Classic finalist Stephen Browning trust Wiley X’s innovative eyewear to protect their vision on the water and give them an important edge over the competition.

When these and other Wiley X pros are competing against each other (and the rest of the field) in a tournament, one may be ripping a crankbait, another pitching a jig and another work-ing a topwater bait. There’s one part of fishing, however, where they all see things the same — through Wiley X lenses. With 100% polarization and 100% protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays, Wiley X sunglasses provide these champion anglers with clear, comfortable vision from blast-off to weigh-in. Wiley works with its professional angling partners to develop specialized lens technologies — such as its unique 8-Layer Polarized Blue Mirror/Green Tint — to increase contrast between varying shades of green water or submerged vegetation. This improved ability to “read the bottom” and spot bass relating to weedbeds and struc-ture is a big advantage for anglers looking to pick a limit on a tough day. And this holds true whether you’re out to win it all at the Classic or just earn bragging rights with your buddies.

“Being able to read the bottom contour and spot fish as they relate to weedbeds, docks or any type of structure is critical to my style of fishing,” said Californian Skeet Reese, one of the world’s top B.A.S.S. performers with 11 Bassmaster Classics under his belt and career winnings of more than $2.1 million. Reese’s recent angling accomplishments include winning the 2009 Bassmaster Classic and finishing 2nd in the hotly contested 2009 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race. “I make my living with my eyes, as much as with my rod and reel, so I was especially impressed by Wiley X’s advanced level of protec-tion,” added Reese. Wiley X is a leading provider of protective

eyewear to U.S. military forces in action around the world. The OSHA-grade occupational eye protection found in every pair of shatterproof Wiley X sunglasses is ideal for protecting Reese and other anglers against the many hazards encountered while fishing — from airborne debris to low-hanging limbs to flying, hook-laden lures.

The high-velocity protection, visual acuity and all-day comfort provided by Wiley X sunglasses play an important role in the success of other top anglers, as well. Alabama native and peren-nial B.A.S.S. favorite Boyd Duckett credits Wiley X in part for his

amazing angling consistency. As 2007 Classic champion, Duckett was among the favorites as he fished in his fourth consecutive Classic in 2010. Unfortunately, engine failure on Day 1 virtually eliminated him from contention. Duckett also holds the record as single-season B.A.S.S. earnings leader, reeling in $862,000 over one campaign.

Wiley X sunglasses also helped Stephen Browning finish in the top 25 in the 2010 Bassmaster Classic, his sixth trip to bass fish-ing’s “Big Show.” The ability to fish hard all day without eyestrain and read the water under constantly changing conditions has helped Browning achieve some impressive career stats, includ-ing 21 Top 10 finishes.

The 2010 Wiley X Pro Fishing Team includes other top anglers who recognize the importance of seeing better and fishing safer. Top B.A.S.S. anglers like Timmy Horton, Edwin Evers, Jared

Lintner and Jeremy Starks make Wiley X an important part of their game plan as they battle their way up the B.A.S.S. standings against the toughest competition in the world.

Wiley X Eyewear is a key to success for some of the world’s best saltwater anglers, as well. Fishing personalities like Mark Davis of the Outdoor Channel’s leading television show BigWater Adventures and IFA Redfish Tour “hotshot” Joe Crosby both rely on Wiley X for superior protection and the visual edge that helps them catch more fish. So do top professional guides like Floridians Chris O’Neil and Ryan Rowen, who recently guided an angler to an IGFA line class World Record hammerhead shark, or Oregon guide John Garrett, recently featured on ESPN2’s “World’s Greatest Fishing Show” catching giant sturgeon with fishing legends Mark Zona and Tommy Sanders.

Top saltwater anglers know that popular Wiley X’s advance lens technology — such the polarized Emerald Green Mirror/Amber lenses available in several popular Wiley X models — gives fishermen the power of high-definition vision. With its 13-percent light transmission, this lens design enhances underwater color contrast, helping anglers read the bottom, see shoals of off-shore baitfish or track the shapes of predatory gamefish as they cruise over the flats.

“We are very proud of each and every one of these anglers,” said Wiley X Eyewear President of Sales Myles Freeman, Jr. “Whether guides or tournament pros, they’ve proven themselves as leaders in what is one of the toughest, most competitive sports out there. We look at these top anglers as partners. We provide them with the protection and superior vision they need to excel. They provide us with input that helps us continually enhance and improve our advanced technology,” added Freeman.

For more information on Wiley X Eyewear Fishing Team, or the company’s full line performance protective eyewear for angling and other outdoor activities, visit online at www.wileyx.com.

New Products from DometicAt the 2010 Mid-America Trucking Show, Dometic Group pre-

sented its new super-size refrigerated container boasting a full 29 cu. ft. of interior capacity. The refrigerator, which measures 43 in. wide, 55 in. deep and 39 in. high, is designed to slide into the rear of commercial utility vans, such as the new Ford Transit Connect, or mounted on the bed of a pickup truck. Built-in strap-down brackets provide for secure mounting and lifting.

The unit runs on 12-volt DC or 115-volt AC power and can be operated for up to eight hours on its built-in battery without being connected to the power supply. It uses a robust, powerful Danfoss 12- volt compressor. The internal air circulation system ensures good temperature distribution throughout. A digital ther-mostat allows the setpoint to be adjusted from 32-50°F. An opti-cal temperature alarm reports any deviation from the setpoint.

Other features include an adjustable wire shelf system, inter-nal LED lights, double-magnet doorsealing system and a safety lock that permits the door to be opened from the inside.

“This product will be ideal for companies that deliver food, flowers, medical supplies and other products that must be kept chilled in transit,” said Lou Siegel, senior vice president of Dometic Group’s trucking business unit. “We fully expect to see a few of these around the parking lots of football stadiums as well. It’s the ultimate tailgating fridge.”

Also highlighted at this year’s show is the new series of CoolFreeze portable refrigerators/freezers for trucks, augment-ing the company’s popular line of installed units.

“We’re expanding our portable refrigerator and freezer prod-ucts in response to increased demand for additional storage capacity for food and beverages,” said Lou Siegel, senior vice president of Dometic Automotive. “These portables provide the convenience of portability and the sturdiness of permanently installed units. Importantly, they are not just evaporative cool-ers, but DC-powered compressor-driven units with deep freezing capability.”

The top-loading Dometic portables range in capacity from 1.1 to 3.77 cubic feet (18 to 80 liters) and are designed to fit in tight spaces, such as between seats or in a side storage locker. A mounting kit is available for fixed installation when desired. The versatile CoolFreeze series units are programmable to serve as either a refrigerator or deep freezer with temperatures as low as zero F (minus 18 C) with a simple adjustment.

All CoolFreeze portables are built with rugged and reliable DC-powered Danfoss compressors, which provide extraordinary performance at minimum power consumption, and reliable, prob-lem-free operation at 12/24 volts, even when the unit is tilted. An AC adapter kit is available for operation on 120-volt AC power.

The CoolFreeze series also features a three-stage battery mon-itor, which has a low-voltage shutoff to protect against a dead battery. Other popular features include the automatic quick-chill/turbo component, which runs the compressor at maximum per-formance until the desired temperature is reached, and a memo-ry function to maintain presets while the system is turned off.

Darn Tough SocksDarn Tough Vermont, one of the only sock makers entirely

based in the USA, makes their trademark Hike/Trek sock out of all-natural, custom shrink treated Merino wool.

It’s got high density cushioning on the foot bottom, ribbing around the ankle to ensure a proper fit (and prevent them from falling down during a long day outdoors) and reinforced toes and heels to prevent blisters and ensure that the socks live up to their name.

Additionally, their wool is famous for its wicking capabilities – it regulates tempera-ture and dries faster than any other mate-rial - synthetic or natural - and wicks away sweat and odors. Hikers and other outdoor sports enthusiasts have worn a single pair of these socks for more than a week without a single hint of an unpleasant smell.

If this wasn’t enough to convince you, their local production means that the com-pany owners are confident enough to give all their products an unconditional lifetime guar-antee – meaning that any time your socks get a

New Armor All Product Gives Dirt And Brake Dust The SlipWheel Protectant Provides Nonstick Coating, So Wheels Stay Cleaner, Longer

When the scientists at Armor All set out to create a better solution for the wheels, the hardest part of the car to keep clean, they kept one fact in mind: the easiest things to clean are ones that never get dirty.

Enter Armor All® Wheel Protectant.Armor All is introducing Armor All® Wheel Protectant,

the first Armor All® product specifically designed to pro-tect the wheels. Armor All® Wheel Protectant uses a sil-ica-based formula to, in effect, create an invisible shield on the wheels that helps prevent dirt, brake dust and grime from finding a home. When applied to clean, dry wheels, Armor All® Wheel Protectant will keep wheels clean for up to one month.

“Since the advent of disc brakes and the brake dust they generate, keeping car wheels clean has been an exercise in futility,” said Jon Paluga, marketing director for the Armor All/STP Products Company. “You can pol-ish them to a shine, but as soon as you drive the car, they get dirty again. With Armor All Wheel Protectant, we’ve broken that cycle. The protective coating keeps wheels clean of dust, dirt and most other things that the road

throws at you, so your wheels look clean, longer.”

Armor All® Wheel Protectant is just one of a whole family of products from Armor All that help people preserve and protect the value and appearance of their automobiles. From inte-rior products like Armor All® Protectant wipes to exterior items like Armor All® Wash & Wax, Armor All® products go beyond simply washing to help maintain the appearance of a car for the long term.

Easy To Apply; Easier To CleanIn addition to keeping wheels clean, Armor

All® Wheel Protectant makes cleaning wheels easier by preventing grime from sticking on the wheels. So the scrubbing of brake dust and road grime that is part and parcel of cleaning car wheels is no longer necessary. And Armor All® Wheel Protectant is easy to apply. Simply spray it on a clean, dry wheel and walk away.

Armor All® Wheel Protectant will be available at select retail outlets throughout the country, starting in March 2010. Each 7-ounce bottle is expected to retail for approximately $8.49.

For more information on Armor All, go to www.armorall.com or aa-ownercenter.com.

GM to Expand Brake Override Software Globally by 2012Motors will expand use of “enhanced smart pedal” technology

globally to all passenger cars with automatic transmissions and electronic throttle control, providing an additional safeguard to enhance customer confidence.

Also known as brake override, the change involves modify-ing existing electronic controls to reduce power to the engine in cases where the brake and accelerator pedal are being depressed at the same time. The global rollout will be completed by the end of 2012.

GM has had for the past several years a braking performance standard that applies to all cars, trucks and crossovers, requiring that the brakes can stop the vehicle within a specific distance. So brake override is an additional safeguard.

“News media analyses of government data consistently vali-dates that GM's safety record on this issue is among the strongest in the industry,” said Tom Stephens, vice chairman, GM Global Product Operations. “At the same time, we know safety is top of mind for consumers, so we are applying additional technology to reassure them that they can count on the brakes in their GM vehicle."

The rollout plan balances the speed of implementation with validation needed to assure that customers feel no deterioration in drivability.

GM Announces Financial Leadership Changes

•Walter Borst is named GM vice presi-dent and Promark Global Advisors chief executive officer

•Nancy Everett, Promark Global Advisors chief executive officer, announc-es intention to leave the company June 1, 2010; will assist with the transition

•Joining GM from Morgan Stanley, Daniel Ammann is appointed GM vice president finance and treasurer

General Motors Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell today announced a number of key finance leader-ship changes aimed at further advancing the company’s financial progress and preparing for its return to public ownership in the future.

Walter Borst is named GM vice president and Promark Global Advisors, Inc. chief executive officer, reporting to Liddell, effec-tive May 1, 2010. Promark is a wholly-owned asset management subsidiary of GM focused primarily on the management of retire-ment plan assets, including GM’s pension plans assets. Borst, 48, will also continue as chairman of the Adam Opel GmbH Supervisory Board. Opel is GM’s principal European automotive subsidiary, located in Germany. Borst was most recently GM vice president and treasurer, a post he has held since 2003.

“Walter has done an outstanding job as treasurer,” said Liddell. “He is a great fit to lead the team managing a crucial part of GM, the $115 billion in assets at Promark.”

During his 29 year GM career, Borst spent six years in Europe, and served as chief financial officer of Opel. Additionally, he held a number of assignments in the Treasurer’s Office in New York and the Controller’s Staff in Detroit. Over the years, Borst has been instrumental in a number of significant strategic and capital market transactions for GM, including the recent GM restructuring and sale of assets pursuant to Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, and the global capital markets debt offer-ing to fund the GM pension deficit in 2003. He has also served on the GMAC Board of Directors.

Borst succeeds Nancy Everett, who has announced her inten-tion to leave the company June 1, 2010, and who will assist with the transition. Everett, 55, joined Promark Global Advisors as chief investment officer in 2005. She assumed the additional responsibility of chief executive officer in January 2006. In 2007, Everett restructured the portfolio to hedge against volatility that ultimately helped GM’s pension fund withstand the negative mar-ket impact of 2008.

“Nancy was a valuable contributor during one of the most dif-ficult times in the financial market’s history,” said Liddell. “Under her leadership, Promark delivered consistent performance for its clients, often outperforming the market. We thank her for her contribution.”

Daniel Ammann has been appointed GM vice president finance and treasurer, reporting to Liddell, effective May 1, 2010. Ammann, 37, was most recently managing director and head of Industrials Investment Banking for Morgan Stanley, a position he held since 2004.

“Dan brings a broad base of financial experience to this posi-tion,” said Liddell. “It is a critical time in this company’s history and Dan’s depth of knowledge of the financial community and our business will be invaluable.”

Ammann will lead the GM Treasurer’s Office, based in New York, with additional operations in Detroit, Shanghai, and Zurich. The global treasury operations include capital markets activi-

ties, capital planning, business development, risk management, worldwide pension funding, worldwide banking, and overseas and domestic finance.

During his 11 years at Morgan Stanley, Ammann was instru-mental in many high profile assignments spanning a variety of technology, service, and manufacturing clients. His diverse expe-rience in mergers, acquisitions, raising capital, and restructuring includes leading Morgan Stanley’s banking team in advising GM on its restructuring and sale pursuant to Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

Yokohama Tire Corporation’s 2010 Motorsports Program Looks Like a Winner

Tiremaker seeks to continue ’09 success with teams in off-road and ALMS, plus expanded “eco-racing’ with orange oil-infused tires in the GT3 Challenge and new GTC series

In 2009, Yokohama Tire Corporation had many major motor-sports successes, including repeat championships in off-road racing’s SCORE and SNORE series, and a season-long, strong run in ALMS. However, Yokohama’s most newsworthy motorsports accomplishment was to shatter the eco-racing barrier by intro-ducing the orange oil -infused ADVAN® ENV-R1™, the first true environmentally-friendly tire used in a racing series.

All that and more will continue in 2010 as Yokohama’s motor-sports program shifts into high gear, according to Mark Chung, director, corporate strategy and planning.

“From the historic introduction of our orange oil compound ENV-R1 race tires in the Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama series to the repeat off-road desert series championships for Heidi Steele in SCORE and her husband Cameron Steele in SNORE, 2009 was a banner year,” Chung said. “And we expect even greater success in 2010. For example, we’ll be introduc-ing an even more eco-friendly tire for the Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama at Sebring in March, one that will further reduce the petroleum use in the tire. The orange oil technology in the ENV-R1 reduced petroleum inputs by 15 percent and increased recyclability while performing at the same level as previous com-pounds. All the Porsche GT3 racers raved about it. The new tire will be even better.”

All told, Yokohama will participate in six race series during 2010, ranging from sports cars to off-road trucks. Series include:

Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama

This is the second year Yokohama is sponsoring the seven-race series. A new and improved version of the ENV-R tire will be the series’ spec tire and will be on a fleet of Porsche 911 GT3 race cars at leading U.S. tracks such as Sebring, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Road Atlanta.

Once again, there will be a field of up to 35 cars vying for championships in two divisions: Platinum (for 2010 GT3 Porsches only) and Gold (2005½ – 2009 GT3 Porsches).

The series begins at the 12 Hours of Sebring, March 18-20. For details, visit http://www.imsachallenge.com/.

The nine-race series begins with the 12 hours of Sebring, March 18-20, and travels to many top courses, including Sebring and Road Atlanta, where Yokohama is the “Official Tire.” For details, visit the ALMS web site at http://www.americanlemans.com/.

Old Industry Draw Visitors to National Wildlife RefugesWildlife is often not the only attraction at National Wildlife

Refuges. History also beckons, and in sometimes surprising forms: remnants of some of the nation’s industrial or commercial past.

Scattered on the more than 150 million acres encompassing the 551 units of the National Wildlife Refuge System are areas that once served as rice mills, oyster processing plants, logging and mining camps and many other reminders of bygone eras of America’s past. Others were home to cattle ranches, salt produc-ers, sugar mills, guano extractors and fish packagers.

Mandated by Congress through a host of laws dating back to 1906, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service manages the remains of these historical enterprises as cultural resources and interprets the most significant through exhibits and displays for visitors.

“We all want a sense of connection to the past,” says Greg Siekaniec, Assistant Director for the National Wildlife Refuge System. “These places are important because they offer us les-sons in how people managed — or mis-managed — the land in the past so we can better protect it for the future.”

Some ventures, however, left little behind: Loggers, for exam-ple, pulled up even rail tracks when they moved on. Some rem-nants are hidden deep in swamps or other hard-to-reach places and may be off limits lest they tempt looters or disturb areas of sensitive wildlife habitat.

In the SouthSavannah National Wildlife Refuge (http://www.fws.gov/savan-

nah/) covers thousands of acres of tidal marsh along the Georgia and South Carolina banks of the Savannah River. Near the refuge entrance is the brick foundation of a low country rice mill that

predates the Civil War. The mill was part of the 500-acre Laurel Hill Plantation, run, like its neighbors, by slave labor. Converted in later years into a rough-and-tumble tavern, fittingly named the Bucket of Blood, the building was destroyed by fire in the 1950s. An interpretive panel now tells its story.

Richard Kanaski, regional historic preservation officer and regional archaeologist for the Southeast region, says such cultural resources can attract many visitors who then become excited about the conservation work going on at the refuge. Historic remains help tie people to the landscape, says Kanaski, who relates the history of the brickwork to refuge visitors. “The stories I tell are not meant to judge people in the past but illuminate and add to our understanding of the times they lived in.”

Today, the Savannah Refuge staff manages the refuge land for waterfowl, using basically the same impoundment system used by the region’s 19th-century rice farmers. In fact, they’ve found that their predecessors’ hand crafted wooden culverts, called rice trunks, work better than newer metal culverts and aren’t prone to rust.

Moving WestIn eastern Oregon’s high desert, it is curiosity about the Old

West as much as the spectacular concentration of birds and wildlife that draws visitors to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge (http://www.fws.gov/malheur/). Two largely intact cattle ranches, dating back to the 1880s and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, once supported 30,000 head of cattle and more than 1,000 horses for the Eastern Oregon Land and Livestock Company. Headquarters for the operation was the P Ranch, which today includes an old horse barn, hay der-

rick and a beef wheel — one of the few remaining in the West — to hoist and process slaughtered cows.

The Sod House Ranch (http://www.fws.gov/malheur/sod-houseranch.html), at the north end of the Blitzen Valley, includes corrals, a horse barn, chicken coop, grain storage shed, harness shed and a bunkhouse for buckaroos (a variation from Spanish word “vaqueros”), as cowboys were known. The P Ranch is open year-round from dawn to dusk. The Sod House Ranch is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from August 15 to October 15. Tours of the Sod House Ranch are available daily without appointment.

Carla Burnside, refuge archaeologist, says some visitors come merely as history buffs and leave with a newfound interest in conservation. They learn from ranch interpreters how the refuge uses historical techniques of haying and grazing these days to manage habitat for waterfowl. “Basically, we’re preparing the meadows for spring migrating birds,” says Burnside. “By remov-ing growth from that year, we help shorter grass green up sooner in spring, providing green forage for the cranes and geese and ducks.”

The past is ever present at Oklahoma’s Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge (http://www.fws.gov/southwest/refuges/okla-homa/tishomingo/), which was created to provide habitat for migratory birds. More than 65 years ago, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dammed the Washita River as part of a flood control project, submerging much of the 13,000-acre Washita Farm in the process. Concrete rooftops of the 90-year-old farm, once an agricultural showplace, now poke through the surface of Lake Texoma. Still standing on dry land and visible to visitors from the refuge entrance roadway are 14 grain silos, a hog barn and a chicken operation where two incubators once ran nonstop, handling up to 22,000 eggs at a time. Interpretive panels tell the story, and during daylight hours, visitors can take a self-guided driving tour of the old farm. An interpretive brochure and map are available at the entrance kiosk, the refuge headquarters or the farm museum.

The farm’s headquarters, containing remnants of a black-smith shop and a meat locker, is used today as the refuge’s administrative offices. Visitors can also see the farm chap-lain’s house, just converted into a museum called the Washita Farm Heritage Center. The museum (open 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, or by appointment) contains historic farm tools, household appliances, furniture and pho-tos. Visitors can also schedule historic farm tours here, led by the Johnston County Historical Society. Other structures, such as the old hog barn, now used to store refuge tractors, and the chicken hatchery, are being evaluated for structural sound-ness. A special tour each April, during the Arbuckle Simpson Nature Festival, lets visitors view closed buildings. A bro-chure, provided by refuge staff, tells the farm’s history. Refuge staff plan to put the brochure online soon.

The refuge staff tries to tie the land’s past to the Service’s conservation mission. “We farm about 1,000 acres a year of wheat and corn — the same crops they grew,” says Refuge man-ager Kristopher Patton. “While people historically marketed all their crops for human consumption, we leave crops in the field for wildlife, whether resident deer or migrating geese.”

Among the history buffs turned environmentalists through exposure to the refuge, one can count the current president of the Tishomingo Friends organization, a volunteer support group. “She came out originally with a vision of doing historical stuff,” says Patton. “Mary Jane Nelson is now a great advocate for the Refuge System.”

A few other refuges where visitors can see remnants of old commerce or industry include:

Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge, Kaua`i, Hawai`iThe Ho`opulapula Haraguchi Rice Mill, the only rice mill left in

Hawai`i located on the refuge and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers tours by reservation on Wednesdays. Except for this tour, the refuge is closed to the public. Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge, Colville, Washington

An old railroad grade, remnants of several trestles and an intact cabin — called the Winslow Cabin — are evidence of an early 20th-century logging camp, which lasted until the Winslow Lumber Mill was destroyed by fire about 1936. Visitors with a trained eye may also see the remains of some old cross ties and railroad spikes. The refuge brochure, available in the visi-tor center, contains a brief mention of the camp; the refuge is developing an interpretive plan, still some years off. For more information about the refuge, visit the Web site at: http://www.fws.gov/littlependoreille/ or call 509-684-8384.
