IPO SPECIFICATIONS

Date 06 / 12 / 04 Reference : 29300 / 04 / ML / MC Page : 2/53 Update 15 / 05 / 05

These specifications drawn up by GRAND-COURONNE RENAULT plant Ingineering Department are intended for all the IPO CKD (Completly Knocked Down) parts suppliers. They apply to every parts delivered in cardboard packaging to IPO CKD warehouse. They are an integral part of purchase agreement between the supplier and RENAULT Purchase Department.

2/ GENERAL POINTS Supplying parts to IPO warehouses (01148, 01149, 01248, 01249, 01270, 01271, 01275, 01152 and 01153) requires to use a dedicated packaging that allows to load directly from reception into an ISO HC (High Cube) container. The packaging has to meet all the requirements of the parts and the transportation, just as the regulations of IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) code shipment. THE PARTS ARE BOUND FOR FOREIGN ASSEMBLY PLANTS. THE COMBINATION PART-PACKAGING IS CALLED "MODULE".

A module is a precise fraction of ISO HC (High Cube) container.

A module only contains one reference.

A module has always to be completly filled.

A module has to keep its geometrical shape.

A module is the delivery unit of the parts.

Every time a same reference is assigned to an IPO warehouse, the supplier has always to deliver the same number of parts in the same packaging. No modification should be done without previous agreement of GRAND-COURONNE RENAULT plant Ingineering Department. IPO ALLOWS TO KEEP THE PACKAGING OF A PART FROM ITS MANUFACTURING TO ITS ASSEMBLY POINT.

3/ MODULE-TYPE PACKAGING

4.3 PALLETIZATION

IPO SPECIFICATIONS

Date 06 / 12 / 04 Reference : 29300 / 04 / ML / MC Page : 6/53 Update 15 / 05 / 05

GALIA standards for 40 to 05 cardboard boxes (non-returnable pallet Dim 1200 x 1000 in accordance with n. 15 Nimp). The delivery must be palletized every time the packaging number allows to constitute a layer. The load should be distributed on the pallet area. GALIA 40 to 05 standards do not prevent from using a dedicated pallet. All the cardboard boxes can be put together on the pallet (DIM 1140 X 950) and immovably attached by a cover or a strip. The successive layers should be stacked. The stacked piling-up guarantees a better vertical compression strength. The mono reference unit so constituted should not exceed an overall 850 mm height or 800 Kg. The palettization load cannot be greater than the pallet area. Several references packed in 40, 16 to 05 cardboard boxes can be placed on the same pallet. An unhomogeneous load cannot stand a load above.

5/ WEIGHING - IDENTIFICATION LABELLING

IPO SPECIFICATIONS

Date 06 / 12 / 04 Reference : 29300 / 04 / ML / MC Page : 7/53 Update 15 / 05 / 05

Every cardboard module, unit (UC = packaging unit) or part of a palettized load, must be weighed and identified. Every palettized load (UM = handling unit) must be labelled. The labels must meet the GALIA standards (ETI 1 or ETI 9 GALIA standard) Annex 3 page 40

Location. - 3P, 4H, 4C, 8L, 4L, 5K and 9K modules. The label is sticked on the widest side of the packaging and parallel to its basis. - 3G, 4G, 3E, 2E modules. The label is placed on the tip. Never stick the label on:

On the edge of the lids of the module kits. The label should not be used to close the module.

The labels have to be made of materials that can be recycled. Remark: The label should not cover the marking.

6/ MARKING All the cardboard packagings delivered to the IPO warehouses (01148, 01149, 01248, 01249, 01270, 01271, 01275, 01152 et 01153) should be stamped:

LNE according to the C18 or C27 Technical rule. See Annex 4 page 42 or foreign equivalent one.

RESY (recyclable packaging) See Annex 4 page 42

Furthermore, the RENAULT brandname should be printed in the middle of the two widest faces of the 4C, 4H, 3P, 3G, 4G, 3E, 2E, 8L and 4L type modules. See Annex 4 page 42 The minimum height has to be 130 mm. Inks should be the most neutral possible respecting the environment. Especially, they cannot contain heavy metals. (Cadmium, Lead, Nickel, Chromium, Mercury, Arsenic, Antimony, Selenium, Barium).

IPO SPECIFICATIONS

Date 06 / 12 / 04 Reference : 29300 / 04 / ML / MC Page : 8/53 Update 15 / 05 / 05

7/ TRANSPORTATION - STORAGE The total height stacked for transportation or storage (including the lower load) should not exceed 2550 mm.

During transportation, the modules can stand 750 kg maximal dynamic load. Concerning modules weighing more than 500 kg, it is necessary and imperative to add 4 cardboard corners in the angles between the cover and the belt. In every case, the heaviest load should be at the lowest nivel.

8/ PROTECTION - QUALITY All the metallic, mechanical and electrical parts should be protected (example: Types of protection). See Annex 5 page 44

Products of protection: see Annex 6 page 45 Presentation and way to use

VCI cover in the packaging VCI film to separate each parts layers Spraying or damping lubrification

Dehydrating product (packets distributed in the packaging in order to avoid direct contact between the parts)

Inhibitive piece of foam VCI bubble film

Moreover, the parts that already get a special protection for standard deliveries will keep it. Protections and packagings will take into account transportation (road, rail, sea, air), handling and storage conditions. See maximal figures. See Annex 7 page 46 Modules delivered by suppliers won’t suffer any change when arriving at IPO warehouses. Parts will keep their initial package till the countries they’re bound for. All the products are registered by RENAULT. The protection should allow the following manufacturing operations. IN CONCLUSION, PARTS QUALITY SHOULD BE GUARANTIED UNTILL THEIR FINAL USE, THAT IS A 16 WEEKS PERIOD FROM THE RECEPTION DATE IN GRAND-COURONNE.

IPO SPECIFICATIONS

Date 06 / 12 / 04 Reference : 29300 / 04 / ML / MC Page : 9/53 Update 15 / 05 / 05

Every supplier must take into account these specifications in order to define the packaging and protection form that fits to its product. The packaging must guarantee the quality of the parts against impacts and distortions (mechanical or thermal constraints) as much as oxidization. This definition may drive the supplier to question the packaging choice made by GRAND-COURONNE Ingineering Department. The supplier has to communicate the new packaging elements. The analysis of his proposal, as well as tests and/or a study of profitability if necessary, will allow to deliver the part by IPO system. The supplier writes down the corresponding Logistical Conditions Sheet (A.R.P.E. that is a packaging part referential implementation) (See sheet Annex 8 page 47), (imperatively mention the unitary part weight). He sends one copy of the Sheet to the purchaser and another one to RENAULT Grand-Couronne plant Ingineering Department with a packaging sheet (cycle and period of preparation of the Logistical Conditions Sheet See Annex 9 page 48). RENAULT Grand-Couronne plant Ingineering Department is disposed to give a Technical Aid in order to define the packaging every time a supplier will need it (Prototype validation. See Annex 10 page 50). This aid can not question the final responsibility of the supplier with regard to these parts, from quantitative as well as qualitative point of view.

In Grand-Couronne, there are several « PROTOS » types, divided in 2 categories:

PROTOS made following Quality problems (PBQ) or for the first shipment of parts liable to problems (aspect parts, fragil parts, etc.).

OTHERS, PROTOS made following requests from our customers, suppliers, etc.

Regarding the 2 categories of PROTOS

I - Orders to respect before the shipment of a PROTO to RENAULT Grand-Couronne plant You have to:

Check that the shipment of the PROTO fits a RENAULT Grand Couronne plant need of parts, excepted when Grand Couronne Ingineering dept. agrees to receive a delivery with no needs. The delivery of a PROTO without agreement of the Methods Dept. or without need of parts would provocate a «NO ASSIGNED» package (advanced parts) and a systematic return to the supplier, that would pay the cost.

Inform the Methods technician concerned by this PROTO (by fax or phone)

Give him the scheduled date of reception at RENAULT Grand-Couronne plant

Remind him the concerned reference

Send him by fax or e-mail: a) The logistical conditions description sheet corresponding to this PROTO + packaging sheet b) The time useful to implement

Identify the PROTO with easily spotted labels (fluorescent or brilliant colors EXCEPT RED COLOR) that clearly indicate: a) The consignee name (Concerned Methods technician name) b) His Number Dept.

II - When the PROTO arrives at RENAULT Grand-Couronne plant

Analysis of the PROTO by the concerned Methods technician and the technician(s) of different concerned departments (Quality, Production, etc.).

The supplier is invited to come to RENAULT Grand-Couronne plant and to participate to this analysis.

Provisional or critical validation of the PROTO, to the supplier in person if he is present or by phone if he is absent on the analysis day.

This provisional validation or these critics must be done within 8 days after the reception of the PROTO on RENAULT Grand-Couronne plant.
