Flex coil a/s was founded in 1992 by
a team of four colleagues who had
already been specializing for several
years in all types of heat exchangers
for cooling, heating and ventilation.
Today Flex coil is a wholly owned
subsidiary of EVAPCO inc. Since its

Flex Coils’ CoilCalc Selection program is where your custom selection begins.
CoilCalc allows the designer to input the system values and then customize the unit
for specific conditions. Material selections, Fin Configuration, Fin spacing, Numbers
of Fans and many other unit characteristics can be pre-defined when making a
selection.

Custom coil replacement program
Heating and Cooling Coils come in all shapes and sizes. Depending on the applicati-
on, cooling medium and coil geometries can span a wide range of material choices
and configurations.
In many instances, a customer may have an old coil in need of replacement and not
have all of the original design conditions. Or perhaps, the old coil has failed due to
a misapplication of material and a new coil is required. In any case, Flex coil, with
it’s coil selection and manufacturing flexibility can offer solutions ranging from
exact replacement of an existing coil or upgrades to an existing system requiring
more applicable material or even performance enhancement.
If your coil has reached the end of it’s life cycle, is corroded or leaking due to age
or harsh environments, Flex coil is able to replace your unit with an exact duplicate
for fit, upgrade for capacity enhancement or additional longevity for your process.

Fan Coils
Flex coil a/s has delivered fan coils for the offshore industry for the past 15
years. The products delivered are con-densers, evaporators, heating and cool-
ing coils fitted with fans. The choice of materials for offshore installations are
vital for the equipment’s longevity.
Fins Maritime environments are one of the
reasons for short lifetime when inappropriate materials are used. When corrosion be-gins, the fins exhibit reduced heat transfer and thus a lower efficiency of the coil. Tests
conducted in a salt spray chamber confirmed that a pretinned copper fin give superior resistance to corrosion.
Tubes / Safety Tubes
The coil tubes in addition to being resistant to maritime atmosphere, must also be re-sistant to the medium inside the tubes. For condensers, evaporators and heating coils it
is sufficient using pretinned copper or CuNi alloys. For seawater cooling coils however, it has been problematic finding materials. Previously, CuNi alloys were recommended
by experts, then SMO took over as the best material. We have trailed materials in a salt spray chamber and came to the conclusion that Titanium is the most resistant materi-
al. For extra security we option safety tubes that gives controlled leaking if the tubes are damaged.
Casing
The casing and the fan coil will also be exposed to a maritime atmosphere,
therefore we use corrosion resistant steel with extra strengthening in the
most exposed points.
Fans/motors When selecting fans/motors we use a special software
to design and ensure good quality and also to optimize the fan selection. Zone definition, temperature and type of protection
will dictate the type of motor as well as materials for the fan unit.
