Harmony is a multi-discipline performing arts workshop for kids with and without special needs ages 7 and older. Once a week, students learn acting, dance, and music together with Penn State student mentors. The college student mentors go through a Special Education Training workshop and are security background checked. Music and Drama Therapy have been used successfully with people of all ages and a variety of disorders and afflictions. Research has shown music helps all kinds of people to better express themselves and their emotions. Harmony takes things a step further by having college student mentors in an integrated classroom with all 3 performance mediums. In this way, Harmony is a great way to build relationships, promote inclusion, develop emotional awareness, and improve communication and self expression. WHAT IS HARMONY?

DONATE

We want Harmony to be free for kids, but that takes a lot of resources. Help us out by making a donation!

It doesn’t need to be money (though that’d be great). Instruments, props, and costume pieces are greatly appreciated!

Visit our website for more information on how to donate!

Are you a Nittany Lion looking to get involved? Do you need some volunteer hours? Volunteer with us!

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Attend a training workshop either Sunday Sep. 7th or Sunday Sep. 14th (future dates TBA on our website)

• Submit your Child Abuse Background Check and Criminal Background Check to an NSCS PACE Officer. (The security clearance requirements will be explained at the training session and are also found on our website.)
