It is best to send a check – not cash. Birthday Treats Students are welcome to bring treats for their birthday. The Jefferson City Public School District passed POLICY JCHF which states that for any food to be served in the classroom the ingredients MUST BE KNOWN. Mrs. Koch CANNOT SERVE ANY FOOD WITHOUT A LIST OF INGREDIENTS. Birthday treats must be ready-to-serve. If the food needs to be cut, it must be cut BEFORE it is sent to school. Birthday treats will be passed out in the afternoon around 3:00 PM. We have 19 students in our class. *We do have students this year who have nut allergies. Please keep their needs in mind when purchasing your child’s Cedar Hill students, staff and families are committed to ensuring high levels of learning for all students and providing a positive, safe, and consistent climate that promotes student character.

Weekly Letter (10/31 – 11/4)This Weekly Letter is due 10/ 31 –

11/ 4. For your first paragraph, I would like for you to tell me about your current independent reading book, be sure to include the title and author of your book. Tell me who the main character is, where and when is the setting, and what is happening with your main character(s).

For your second paragraph I would like for you to explain how non-fiction text features help a reader. Choose any three of the text features we’ve been learning about and explain their purpose and how you can use them to help you in your reading of non-fiction text.

Fall PartyOur Fall Party classroom was a

huge success thanks to Mrs. Cain! The students had a blast celebrating the upcoming fall season, playing games, and eating! Thank you for planning a great celebration for our class!

Reading Workshop: We be identifying learning to identify the Main Idea and Supporting Details. Your child next Independent Reading book for second quarter is due by November 11th!

Writer’s Workshop: Students have been assigned their topic for to research and we have started our Informational Writing Unit. We will learn to identify prepositions. Spelling: We will focus on Unit 11 words this week. Math: We will continue to study Unit 2: Decimals for the remainder of the second quarter. Our focus this week will be comparing and ordering decimals. Science: This week we will finish studying Matter and Energy. Last Thursday, we completed the Matter and Energy review together. Students need to study their review to prepare for their assessment on Friday. Social Studies: Our next Social Studies unit we will study Native
