OPTION 1 - 1:00 p.m. A Guided Bike Tour from Lake Beresford Park to Blue Spring State Park

Under the Canopy to the Manatees Lake Beresford Park, 2100 Fatio Road, DeLand Cost: $25.00 – Preregistration is required. We will be riding the 3.5-mile section between Lake Beresford Park and Blue Spring State

Park as a tour guided by Tim Baylie. Tim is the Director of Volusia County’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Division. He will lead the tour and speak about “How to Fund, Build and Main-tain Trails Under Your Canopy.”

This will be a round-trip bike ride, approximately 7.0 total miles. Midway, we will stop at Blue Spring State Park, famous for the overwintering manatee. Bike rentals are available and included, along with the park admission fee, in the cost of this tour. Pre-registration is required. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the park. We plan to ride back and end up at our starting point at 5:00 p.m. ..... For non-riders the park can be accessed by car (vehicular entrance is $6.00).

OPTION 2 - Anytime between 8:00 a.m. to Sundown Canoe/Kayak or Boat Tour (on your own) Blue Spring State Park, 2100 West French Avenue, Orange City Please note: this will not be a UFI “organized tour” Conservation measures can produce astounding results. In 1970, two years before Blue

Spring State Park was established, researchers tracked 14 manatees in the spring run. By 2005, after years of park improvements and manatee protection efforts, wintering manatee numbers exceeded 200 and by 2018, that number skyrocketed to a record 485. Besides “sea cows,” fish abound in the spring run, and these attract a variety of wading birds, os-preys, eagles and kingfishers. To see the park’s wonders, one can launch a canoe or kayak (rent one at the park) or take a guided river boat cruise.
