Key Capabilities Enhanced key capabilities

Signaling processing: supporting 350 RLS/s (hardware supporting 1500 RLS/s)

Inherits all features of WMPT in RAN13.0

Transmission interface: 4E1/T1 + 1FE/GE (electrical interface)+ 1FE/GE (select different

modules to support optical/electrical interface), adaptive FE/GE

Transmission traffic: ATM UL/DL 8 Mbit/s; IPv4 over ETH: typical packet length 300 bytes,

bidirectional traffic 450 kilo pulses/s, bidirectional traffic 1080 Mbit/s

Transmission feature: IPv6 HW Ready

Memory is upgraded to NAND flash memory with high capacity, significantly improved file

write speed and reduced time of an upgrade using a USB flash drive (within 12 minutes).

Key customer value

Next generation main control board supporting LTE

Improves the signaling processing function, used in some hotspot sites to resolve signaling

storm.

Hardware Introduction

The appearance of UMPT is similar to that of WMPT, which is also

inserted in WMPT slot (slot 6 and 7).

UMPT is completely compatible with the external cable interfaces of

WMPT (E1, optical FE/GE, electrical FE/GE).

Debugging interface RJ45 is not used on UMPT. The USB interface

can be used as a debugging interface.

An SFP interface is added to UMPT for the interconnection with UCIU.

Application Strategy

In RAN13, both UMPT and WMPT are delivered to customers. UMPT is

only delivered to certain sites to resolve signaling storm (for example, in

Canada).

Application Strategy UMPT and WMPT cannot be inserted in the same BBU.

In practice, mixed configuration of UMPT and WMPT for backup is only

adopted in a few scenarios.

Capacity expansion by mixed configuration contradicts the current strategy of

WMPT capacity expansion by using UTRPC signaling.

If WMPT and WMPT are configured at the same time, an extra slot will be

occupied, which does not facilitate dual-mode evolution.

Application Strategy (Continued)

UMPT is put forward in RAN13.0 solution while the NodeB version is

V200R013C01. The dependency of NEs in the RAN13.0 solution is

shown in the following table.

Operation Guide to Replacing WMPT by UMPT

If the customization conditions are applicable during production (the software

version before an upgrade is consistent with the on-site upgraded version),

perform the following steps: Step1: Upgrade the site to the target version (RAN13C01 and later versions).

Step2: Acquire the configuration files of each site for replacement.

Step3: Download the configuration files of each site to different USB flash disks

which are attached with site identity labels.

Step4: Get to the site with UMPT and the USB flash disk.

Step5: Replace the board and reconnect the cable.

Step6: If UMPT indicator is normal, insert the USB flash disk.

Step7: Upgrade the data configuration file successfully.

Note: The preceding steps are key steps to reduce the service interruption

time. For details, see related documents.

Step2: Acquire the configuration files of each site for replacement.

Step3: Set up BBU scenario in storeroom or laboratory. Download the target version

and configuration files to UMPT by using USB flash disk or LMT.

Step4: Get to the site with UMPT.

Step5: Replace the board and reconnect the cable.
