Now Open!7 Days a Week, 9am-6pm

It's time for fun in the sun this summer at the new "H2Oh! Splash" spray park exhibit now open daily 9am-6pm. This garden-themed attraction provides over 7,700 square feet of cool fun. Boasting over 40 sprayers - including flowers, leaves, split and jet streams, magic mist, turtle, crab, snail, water jelly, geysers, aqua dome, spray loops, cylinder spray, and water tunnel - children and families enjoy the refreshing water as they escape the

oppressive summer heat in Memphis. The park is now open daily and will remain open through Labor Day and beyond if the weather is warm enough. The garden theme allows children to have fun and learn educational concepts at the same time. Learning aspects include how plants grow, photosynthesis, and water and sun safety. Music is the centerpiece of the park with a water organ that plays like a piano. Children line up and play a tune on this magical instrument shaped like a whale! Additions to the "H2Oh! Splash" exhibit include four carved, green granite turtles. The "turtle family" has a baby, child, mommy and daddy turtle - with the daddy weighing over 2.5 tons. The iron gates leading into the park have colorful, oversized flowers in steel painted in bright primary colors. Two lifeguard stands allow museum staff to watch over the safety of our guests. The park-like setting includes plantings of ornamental grass, a variety of trees and bright flowers to create a nature scene and complement the garden theme of the spray park. Admission to the spray park is separate from the admission fee to the museum. The park is also not included in museum membership since it is seasonal and will only be open approximately Memorial Day to Labor Day based on how hot it is. The park is open daily 9am-6pm based on weather conditions. Prices: Monday-Thursday, $3 members & $8 non-members; Friday-Sunday & Holidays, $3 members & 10 non-members (special combo ticket for museum and splash park available for non-members). Prices and hours are subject to change. Visit CMOM.COM for more details!

Sun Safety Tips!

Sun exposure is the most preventable risk factor for all skin cancers, but you can have fun in the sun and decrease your risk. Here are some recommendations

from the American Academy of Dermatology:

•Slather on sunscreen: Put on sunscreen about 15 to 30 minutes before going outside. It only takes a few minutes. SPF should be 30 or higher. Look for the words broad spectrum or UVA and UVB rays. You want a sunscreen that protects you from both. It doesn't matter what form of sunscreen you use. If you like spray sunscreen, that's fine. Cream, gel, lotion, ointment and sticks all work. Whatever you like, just use it! Sunscreen wears off, so put more on after you've been in the sun for more than two hours or after you swim or sweat a lot. And you need to use it even on cloudy or cool days. Don't forget places that often are missed, such as ears, lips and eyelids. Sunscreen can sting if it drips into your eyes, so use a special sunscreen that comes in a stick and won't drip. And because sunscreen doesn't taste very good, there is special sunscreen made just for lips.

•Seek shade when appropriate. Remember that the sun’s rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. If your shadow appears to be shorter than you are, seek shade.

•Wear protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses, where possible.

That's a Wrap! Special Events at CMOM

In May, The Children’s Museum of Memphis celebrated Cinco de Mayo. Visitors enjoyed crafts and games, and learned about the historic Battle of Puebla. They also played the Human Tic-Tac-Toe game and enjoyed a dazzling performance by Sones de Mi Pueblo.

In June, CMOM celebrated Father’s Day with Dinosaur Dinner with Dad. Dads, granddads and their families took pictures with Dinosaur Dan, watched dino movies and enjoyed a dinosaur-sized meal. Those who came also participated in the Dinosaur Digg, the Dino Toss and listened to the story of Jake and the Dinosaur. More exciting events are coming to CMOM soon, so stay tuned!

The summer is almost over and we're getting geared up and ready to go...back to school, that is. Meet us at the H2Oh! Splash Park as we

challenge your knowledge with brainteasers while having tons of fun at our back to school luau for kids. We're pulling out the limbo stick one last time before school returns to session. So don't forget your swimwear and Hawaiian attire as you enjoy the limbo, fun fact trivia, fishing for school supplies, the family dance-off and book give-a-way. Don't miss the Kiddy Express train rides, rock-climbing wall and magic show with Bubbles the Clown and more. You might just be the lucky one to win a brand new 7-inch Android tablet in the back to school drawing. Come show your school spirit as we celebrate going back to school! Museum admission is not included in event price.
