    cooling tower. Sometimes calledpacking, lling, or bafes, this is the areawhere water and air mix to achieve thecooling eect. A cooling tower can onlyperorm i the ll material is in goodcondition, providing the greatest possibleheat transer surace.

    M-106 is a lm-type cooling tower ll.Water fowing down the ll sheets ormsa thin lm on the surace o the sheets.This type o ll provides much more water

    surace exposure per cubic oot than doessplash-type ll.

    Film ll oers greater cooling eciency,so you can get colder water rom yourpresent system without increasing anhorsepower. Or, i you choose, you canuse this improved eciency to savehorsepower and produce the same coldwater temperature.

    M-106 ll is also available with highly

    ecient drit eliminators molded rightinto the ll sheets. Compared with olderdesigns, these eliminators reduce watercarryover (drit) rom the tower by aactor o ten or more! You save on yourwater bills because youre not throwingwater into the air. Youll also save onwater treatment chemicals that used toleave the tower in the drit. And, youllvirtually eliminate the nuisance caused bydrit spotting on adjacent buildings andproperty.

    To save you even more, the driteliminators discharge air straight towardthe an. You can choose eliminators oreither horizontal discharge towers or orvertical discharge towers. Since the air isgoing the right direction when it leaves theeliminators, youll save on an horsepower.

    M-106 is thermoormed rom PVC sheets

    with a maximum fame spread rating o 25per ASTM E-84. Thereore, your risk o redamage is minimal.

    M-106 is easy and inexpensive to installin almost all crossfow cooling towers. It

    The ll material will be installed in a crossfow cooling tower.

    Construction and Materials

    The ll will be lm type, Marley M-106 or approved equal to meetthe design perormance. The ll will consist o 20 mil .020 thickpolyvinyl chloride sheets. Flame spread rating o the materialmust not exceed 25 per ASTM E-84.

    The ll sheets must be thermoormed with an M pattern andadhesive bonded into six sheet packs. The ll sheets must bespaced on minimum 1.06 centers

    Confguration

    The ll must be designed specically or crossfow cooling towerapplications. It must contain a minimum o 37.5 square eet owetted heat transer surace per cubic oot o ll material.

    The ll supplier will determine the total volume o ll required toachieve the specied thermal perormance.

    The towers ll section will consist o multiple ll packs. The packsmay be installed in one or more passes in the air travel direction.

    The ll must be bottom supported rom the existing structure,or the subcontractor must submit design calculations or thestructural reinorcement to be used to hang the ll rom the top.

    The ll supplier will review the details o the existing towerstructure, either by review o detailed dimensional tower drawingsor by physical inspection. Based upon review, the supplier willestablish the requirements or additional ll supports and air seals.

    Hot Water Distribution

    Fill supplier will review the details o the existing hot waterdistribution system. Based upon review, the supplier will dene anynecessary changes to assure uniorm water distribution to all areaso the ll section.
